  1. For those that keep asking their dealers about the rollback, there is nothing they can do as it is a design issue. (Note issue not a flaw.)

As you can see in the animated gif, the red parking pawl drops into a notch when placed in park.

    sandia-gearshift-movie.gif

The Edge has less notches, which means it moves father before the pawl engages a notch.

Which makes for a stronger system, but causes a little more rolling.

As akirby has stated the parking brake should always be set when parking.

And to correctly do this is very simple.

    1. Come to a complete stop.

    2. While still holding foot brake, apply parking brake.

    3. Remove foot from foot brake and allow parking brake to hold weight of vehicle.

    4. Place shifter into park.

    5. Remove seatbelt.

    6. Open door, and exit vehicle.

I hope this clears things up for some of you.

  2. now the question is... is that plug you reference at the end of an extension of the harness - say a 1 foot cable extension - added at the factory that is actually plugged into a harder to access plug farther up the line and is just added to make the plug closer to the hitch and accessible.. or is that accessible plug up there and on every 2008 just waiting to get used IF you have a tow package added?

it would be cool if someone with a 2008 and NO tow package looked around under this general area to see if they could see said plug.

Wow this is just incredible, if you have not ordered yet, heck even if you have you can change it, just get the factory tow package.

At $395.00 it is a bargain, you get "Class II Trailer Tow Package: Class II receiver hitch, engine oil cooler, larger radiator, upgraded battery and cooling fans, wiring harness and 4-pin connector", and it does not hang down below the rear valance, like aftermarket ones do.

Even if you never tow, the oil cooler is still working for you, not to mention resale appeal.

You are going to spend around $33,000, don't cheap out over a few hundred.

  3. If it weren't for the fact that I get Ford X-plan pricing, I'd be at the Infiniti dealer right now instead of the Ford dealer (does anyone who doesn't get Ford plan pricing actually buy Fords anymore?).

If only it was in my power to take away your x-plan pricing I would, so you would not have to lower yourself to drive a pittyful Ford product.

    Happy trails joker. :finger:

  4. in the 30 min's it took you to write your reply, I bet you felt silly once it got posted. check your time stamps

No not a bit since I did capture your original response.

And it was about 15 minutes, but even if it was 30 haste makes waste, or mistakes.

Hey, thanks for sticking up for me, yes I did forget to say it is a MKX, in that post! anyway my shade still flops! tommy o.

No problem, I just wish I could offer some help, with the flapping sun screen, other than to say open them up and let the sun shine in. :happy feet:

  5. Probably by now you've read another of his posts where he states it's an EDGE. Don't worry, no retraction on YOUR part is necessary.

I wouldn't think of it, considering out of his 4 posts only 2 list type, and both time he states MKX.

hey, everyone! just aline to say I happened on this site 2 days ago, very much enjoy seeing the changes everyone is making to their cars! I just bought an 07 MKX, & adding some BLING , also want to do a grill, if anybody comes out with a nice one? also want to lower mine, would appreciate any feed back on springs, etc., cost of them? a nice set of 20" also on the list! again, hello! Tommy Overstreet

Yes!, I am also looking for the same items, we really need something for the front of the MKX, btw, check out brighttrim.com, they have nice chrome items, I have installed several of their parts, :shades:
  6. once again, my engine light turn on today. I call ford dealer right away, and book a appointment on Monday at Ford dealer. Anyone have any idea, if my engine light turn on like this so frequently. Can I ask dealer give me some compensation since I just bought my edge one month ago. this is the third times!

    Thanks!

So first off did you do as Robert suggested, and put it back to stock.

And if not why would the dealer owe you comensation, for a problem more than likely caused by your aftermarket lights. :finger:

  7. I have no idea about the stuff they are selling on E-bay, but I can only guess it's not worth buying.

I was qouted $500.00 to get a clear bra put on the front of my Mustang.

Now that does cover the enitre front and about the first third of the hood.

I'm a believer in you get what you pay for, so if you want to protect your Edge get a good one professionally installed.

I almost forgot, all of my vehicles have been girls, riding around in a dude would make me feel funny. :finger:

  8. Sorry dude I'm just not feeling the sticker.

Being old school the only cars that have stickers, are race track only, or rice.

As far as wheels, just too much material for me, I like a more open design.

The gill dosen't look too bad, but a better picture would help, to really check it out.

But hey that's just me, if you like it that's all that really matters.

  9. I agree with Edgy Girl, an electronic odometer not reading exactly correct is not a major flaw.

And because it is electronic it can be fixed very easy by dealer, alot easier than a mechanical one.

And as Edgy Girl asked what is the difference between what the road side mile markers say and what the odometer says.

Maybe you could find a friend with a GPS you could borrow, and check it against the GPS.

  10. I've seen a number of formulas that calculate X-Plan. Does anyone know the definitive one? I'm also trying to figure out what other charges I would expect on a final bill.... advertising, delivery, taxes, administrative fees, registration, ...???

Basically I'd love to know, walking in to the dealership, what my final bill will look like.

Here is a link to what is suposed to be the full rules for x-plan purchases.

    x-plan rules

And a link to apply for a pin number.

    pin requests

Hope that gives you all the info you need, good luck.

  11. Unless you are in love with the chrome plated plastic of the Ford wheels, save the money and get some after market 20's, and some 265/45/R20 tires to put on them.

That way you can pick the style of wheel, and brand and type of tire you want, it will probably cost more but be truely custom.

That's just my 2 cents, but it is your money, so you will need to do what makes you happy. :happy feet:

  12. The brochure I picked up at the dealer is clear. A Class I trailer hitch receiver is listed as standard equipment on the SE and SEL models (rebadged SEL and SEL+ according to the dealership).

The Class II with all the associated mechanical upgrades is an option on both.

What have other Canadaian buyers experienced?

Your brochure must be different from the one I have, because mine says "Class 1 towing".

No mention of any hitch, of any type.

But even if the brochure says, a receiver hitch is standard on all models, legally they owe you nothing, read the fine print at the bottom.

"Ford Division reserves the right to change product specifications at any time without incurring obligations." :redcard:

Not saying you can't try, but don't get your hopes up.
