  1. The problem is that with headlights on, the display goes to auto dim which makes the backup camera almost useless. I turn off headlights when backing at night. You can program auto dim off, but that's a pain in the rear. Seems like Ford could update so auto dim is deactivated when in reverse.
  2. Yes J, I am referring to the sync3 display & your solution sounds reasonable. I will leave home before daylight tomorrow morning so I 'll try your suggestions. I got used to the system on my 2012 Edge that had back up display vision at night almost like day time, so I reasoned that the 16 would be the same. Using mirrors only seems inadequate to me. Thanks to all responded. Max
  3. On my 2016 Edge SEL with rear camera, the back up lighting disappears at night when headlight switch is in the on or auto position when I shift to reverse. If I switch head lights off, I get full back up lighting on the screen. Dealer told me that nothing can be done. Begs the question, why dim the back up vision when dark?
  4. My 2012 SEL with 13,000 miles does not have the seat problem. The only real gripe I had was the useless halogen headlights, have since installed after market HID's.
  5. Prior to the Edge I had a Buick Rendzevous, 190 hp v6. Nice vehicle but can't compete with my Edge in any way I can think of.
  6. My 2012 SEL 2.0 Ecoboost just passed 11,000 miles & I am still in awe of the quiet efficient power of that little 4 cyl. engine. Got 29.9 mpg on a recent trip to Portland, OR, 28.4 on return trip (uphill you know). Town mpg around 17 to 20, the 17 belongs to my heavy footed wife. Don't know how they solved the spool up lag on the turbo. Acceleration is instant & smooth.
  7. Just had the cracked fuel line surge chamber replaced under a recall. Ford rented a car for me while repair was completed, Volkswagen Jetta, road & engine noise worse than any vehicle I have ever driven. Happy to have my nice quiet Edge again.
  8. My 2012 Edge has a smell not unlike mold when A/C is turned on, but disappears soon. Seems like condensation is being trapped in the vent system.
  9. It was quite chilly so windows were up the entire time. Load was 2 adults. Out west driving 60 to 65 will get you run over. Your comment about 70 to 75 mph I believe is spot on. Whatever mpg I still love the Edge.
  10. My 2012 Edge SEL 2.0 ecoboost has 5300 miles. City mpg ranges from 19 to 21 mpg which seems very reasonable but highway mileage is sorely lacking. On a 400 mile drive yesterday (70% freeway at 75 mph--30% rural at 65mph)using cruise control & no a/c, mostly level highway the best indicated was 26.2 & averaged 24.4. I can,t say I'm surprised because at age 76 I've owned many cars & none have ever lived up to mfg's mileage estimate. I have often wondered how mfg's arrive at their mpg estimates. Now for the good stuff. The Edge ranks as one of the finest driving & riding vehicles I have owned.
  11. Does anyone else find the halogen headlamps pitifully dim?
  12. Update----- Talked to local Ford service rep & was actually told that Halogen headlights have to warm up before reaching full lighting capacity. Left shaking my head. Glad it was daylight, didn't have time to wait for warmup.
  13. Love my 2012 Edge Ecoboost except the headlights. Worst of any vehicle I've ever owned. Vision difference between low & high beam is almost zero. Checked aim according to the manual & adjustment is correct.
