  1. Radioshack. All you need to do is use your existing iPod cable and 2.5mm phono to phono plug.
  2. The maps in system do not know every individual address in the US. They know the streets and estimate where the address might be within the block. I would imagine some streets have better information than others. There are after all millions of miles of road contained on the disk.
  3. I am noticing the same issue, and I think it might be related to cold. I have 5G iPod that is dedicated to the car. I am noticing that the iPod is a little flaky below about 25 degrees. I have to either unplug/plug it in, reset it or worst case shove it my pocket to warm it for a minute. I also have a new 5.5G Classic iPod, I may put that one up in the car and see if it is a little more tolerant.
  4. Interesting development. I was cleaning my car yesterday, and my phone was in the house on the charger, and it still randomly switched to the BT source. The phone was about a 150 feet from my car, and there is no way that BT has that range.
  5. I have a Taurus X with the Nav and Sync, and I have a couple of issues that I would like to see fixed. Bugs: About 1 in 10 times when I start the car, the "User Device" which I alway want on my iPod, will randomly switch to my BT phone which doesn't even have music on it. I then have press the source button to get it back to where I want it. It seems to be a race condition as to which device Sync finds first. My iPod is dedicated to the car and is rarely removed unless I want to update the songs on it. When connecting to the phone at startup, a little popup dialog appears which says something like "connecting to phone". Sometimes that dialog will not go away unless you switch to a different screen (Nav, phone, menu etc.) Enhancements: I would like to know which playlist is currently playing. There is a status bar at the top when I am viewing the navigation system etc. It would be nice if it showed current track and artist. When I ask for a single track, I would like it to return to the previous playlist when done. Show me album art and lyrics. Allow me to alias the user device so I could call it iPod or Zune instead. User device is just awkward. Allow me to string together commands. "Phone call home" instead of "Phone" <wait> <bing> "Call Home" Over all it is a very good system, but it does have a some rough edges.
  6. I have a Motorola Motorazr Maxx Ve, which mostly works except that it cannot differentiate the type of phone numbers in the directory (Home, mobile, etc.) It also does not support text messages (not a biggie for me).
  7. These are the tags defined by the phone. When you create a new entry there is the Name, Home, Mobile, Work etc. The phone automatically capitalizes names so there are all in mixed case.
  8. I have a Verizon Motorazor Max Vee and everything seems to work properly except that when it reads the directory, it doesn't read the tags that identify the home or mobile number. I have the nav so I can browse the directory visually and all numbers have the generic phone icon, but according the manual I should get a different icons depending on the type of number. Unfortunately this means that it calls the first number listed and when I ask for "CALL <name> at HOME" it will say no home number listed. I have already put in the Sync service pack and last night I went to the Verizon store and had the latest firmware loaded and still no dice.
  9. I would like to see a tree structure breakdown of the allowed commands. I might try to map it out, if I can get some free time this weekend.
  10. You need to pair your phone with your car. You wouldn't want people walking down the street to use a bluetooth headset to start using your phone while it is your pocket. So with bluetooth you have to pair or manually permission the devices.
  11. There is a wire harness hack available for the Prius. I guess there is a indicator wire from the car that tells the nav the car is moving. The harness is most likely just a pass through minus one wire. Question is how does the Ford nav know that it is moving? Does the car tell it or does the GPS position movement tell it. I guess a quick test would be to tape some aluminum over the antenna then drive and see if you can input destinations.
  12. If you have the navigation system, press the phone button, then settings then advanced. There is an option to turn off the voice prompts.
  13. It is designed to pry about an extra $40 from your wallet.
  14. It is that time of year when we start to get oxygenated gas at the pump, and that seems to reduce MPG. Additional drag caused by increased air density and colder temperatures affecting the engines efficiency may also play a factor.
