  1. So in the last two days the MKX has done some weird things.

    1) After sitting for a couple hours the Vista Roof magically vented itself and rolled down the two front windows all the way. Then the Vista Roof did not want to close. I had to drive it for awhile before it would close (it was about 38-degrees out).

    2) The navigation screen was so dark no one could read it. The lights were not on and the brightness of the LCD was normal.

Several months ago I pressed the close button on the Vista Roof and it opened it further. I just blew it off as a temporary glitch. Has anyone else had weird issues like this?

  2. From what I've read on here I'm not the only one that is confused about the navigation system in the MKX. The help menu has a list of voice activation commands, but there is no apparent way to use them.

Anyway, I have my service manager looking into this. He showed me several pages of correspondence he has exchanged with Ford people (some manager, and an engineer) about it. He seems to think that Ford will issue a software update for it so we can either use it or get rid of the menu for it.

I'll keep you all posted if I hear anymore.

  3. So my MKX arrived at the distribution center in KC last Wednesday. The KC office promised it last Friday. Today is Monday...still no MKX. Now they are saying tomorrow or Wednesday. I'm not holding my breath. From KC to here, its about a 2 hour trip. Why it is taking them a week is beyond me.

I can fully understand why Ford lost $12.5 billion last year. The company is still operating like it always has...at least in order processing and customer service. The dealership has been great though, part of the reason I'm not on the phone ripping Ford a new one because of the slow shipping.

  4. Thanks again, jrod!

Your kind personal service is greatly appreciated.

Our Edge is great, and my father is very excited about his MKX.

    Dan

I completely agree. Jrod, you make our wait a little more bearable. :shades:

I hope your father has better luck with the shippment of his MKX than mine. It was built Monday, and isn't suppose to arrive until April 2nd. :banghead:

  5. They might not be wrong. From another VIN I tracked, I know the system was updated yesterday. It doesn't get updated on a daily basis. They might have just started building it today!!! It seems to me that the way Oakville seems to be cranking these things out, you'll have yours soon. I know it's easier said than done but, be patient!! It will be well worth the wait :yup: !!!!

Oh yeah. The ERL says it will be built next week. And the lady at Lincoln said it is scheduled to be at the dealership on March 9th. Can't wait!

  6. nsap,

    Still says the same thing.

Why am I not surprised that the customer relations person was wrong.? Thank you!

  7. :happy feet: It's further along in the process than I thought! The ERL has been saying it's scheduled to be built the week of Feb. 26th since the 8th. Maybe the build date has been pushed up since it is already blended?

    Thanks a lot jrod!!!

Hey jrod, is there an update on mine?? According to Lincoln customer relations it was "being produced right now" when I called yesterday.

  8. I have a question about orders and deliveries. Does Ford prioritize which dealers get vehicles before others? Do "A" dealers get vehicles before "B" dealers?? I have had an MKX on order for 8 weeks and as of today it is still "clean and unscheduled". I find this unusual when on this site I find, among others, an Edge ordered Jan 26 and produced Feb 20th. Thanks.

From what I understand, all dealerships are allocated a certain number of MKX's per month. This applies to all dealership in North America, not just large dealerships. So if your dealership had a lot of MKX's ordered prior to yours...chances are, their allocation is used up for awhile. [i may be wrong here, but that's the way I understood it]

It was about 5 weeks between the order date and the date my MKX got serialized. The reason it took so long was because of the lack of allocation.

Unless an employee on here can help you out further, you probably need to call customer relations and see what the deal is. On the order sheet, what priority was the order (should be 10-15)?

  9. Don't believe Ford (or the Navi manufacturer) would allow a movie DVD to work in the Navi slot. You can try, but don't believe it could/would happen.

Everything else - Ditto to what UltraHertz said above.

I've never seen a DVD-based navi NOT be able to play DVD's.

The vehicle canNOT be in motion while the movie is going though. As soon as you put it in a gear, the movie will stop playing.

  10. nsap,

    Pretty soon!!!

  11. What does the MKX offer that the Edge doesen't ? Big difference in $$

*Adaptive Headlamps (they turn when the vehicle does)

    *14-speaker THX Sound System (AMAZING!)

    *Heated and cooled front seats

    *Heated rear seats

    *More sound deadening materials

*Real wood trim in the interior

*Better materials in the interior (more luxury-like)

    *LED taillamps

    *Standard leather seats

That's all I can think of at the moment.

  12. No its not Superior, I think the name of the supplier is an acronym, ATX or something like it. They are located in the states. They are shipping to us right now so the rim ordeal is over.

Congrats on your MKX it handles superbly, very quiet, definately an eye catcher nice unit.

Ok. Cool. Hopefully the ball will get rolling on the MKX this next week or so.

    Thanks for your help!

  13. The supplier that produces the 18" chrome rims fell behind on orders. They are mass producing the rims now and all orders will be filled. Should take a week or so to get caught up.

If your dealership has high turn over of vehicles he/she should press Ford to get yours serialized. We have shipped 32,000 units thus far and currently have 25,000 in order bank.

Please be patient, it will be well worth it.

    Yours an SEL?

Just curious, but is the wheel supplier Supperior Wheel? The only reason I ask is because they are located close to me, and I know they are over-whelmed right now with the new GM truck rims. I wondered if maybe they were doing the Edge/MKX wheels as well...

The dealership is a small one. The move a lot of vehicles, but probably not a lot to Ford.

Its a MKX with Ultimate and Elite packages. It was ordered January 6th, and as of the 31st...it was not serialized. Any idea when the wheel fiasco will be fixed? A week or so you say?

  14. 1) About 4000

    2)Yes

    3)Yes............no

    4)One week left

    5)Dunno....doubt it

    6)No

Thanks! I'm curious...Are they even building any vehicles that have been ordered within the last month (you may not know that...but thought I'd ask)? The MKX was a priority 10 X-Plan order, ordered from a small dealership (which I hear allocation does not apply to the small ones)...so I would think that if they were building recent orders it would be one of them, or it would at least be serialized.

  15. Maybe someone from Oakville could answer these questions and thus help me understand why it takes so long for my dealer to get the VIN for my MKX..now six weeks and counting.

    1. How many Edge's and MKX's are produced per week?

    2. Are the two models manufactured simultaneously?

    3. Do you manufacture different paint colors and options at the same time or do you wait until, say you have x number of orders for copper Edge's and then manufacture them?

    4. Are the refits complete?

    5. Is the dealer inventory build complete?

    6. Are there factory tours??

    Thanks.

I'd like to hear the answers to those as well..

  16. Thanks very much to the entire crew at Oakville.

I picked up my Redfire Edge today at my local dealer in Hannibal, MO. I ordered this unit on New Year's Eve, and it was sitting on the dealer's lot this morning, January 30. Incredible short time for completion compared to many of the stories on this site.

The fit and finish is excellent. I have owned luxury Toyotas, Hondas, and several domestics. This is as good as I have driven in the last twenty years.

Excellent initial fit and finish! QUIET ride!!

    Thanks for the great product!

    Dan Galloway

Wow. What connections do you have? You aren't too far from my location (same 'region' of the country anyway). Ordered an MKX January 6th, still hasn't been serialized. Maybe there is hope of getting it in Feb. yet...
