  1. Check out the latest article in C&D. They rated 4 2008's and a 2009 Murano:

    1. Murano

    2. Sante Fe

    3. Edge

    4. Mazda cx-7

    5. Dodge Journey

Some things they liked about the Edge:

    High driver's eye point

    Easy manuvering

    The interior(Bright and roomy)

    Some of the the lows:

    Ride is harsh

    Gritty-sounding engine

    Noticeable road noise

    Leather seats hard

I don't agree with a lot of this but it is interesting.

  2. I think people should remember the months also. The owners manual says 6 mo or 7500 miles. I put

only 4000 or so miles in 6 months. Some might put alot less than that. I am old enough to remember

2000 mile oil changes. Seemed like you changed oil every time you turned around.

  3. Love my Edge!! Just got a 2008 Edge SEL and LOVE it! Had to get the "Vista" roof. I hope you all enjoy yours as much as I do. The first time I test drove one, I had a problem with the rear and blind spots. So, then I started looking into the freestyle/Taurus X, but the Edge is so much Edgier!!! I don't seem to have the blind spot in the 2008. Had test drove the 07. Pardon the pun! I will be coming to this place for any questions or concerns I have, just wanted to introduce myself and share thoughts with others! Sh from Indiana!

Welcome to the club. Just one question. I thought the 07s and 08s were basically the same cars. How can you

have a blind spot on the 07 but not the 08? Anyway, hope you enjoy your Edge!!

  4. Sorry to hear of all the problems you"ve had. I have had ZERO so far and just love this car. Hopefully all your

problems will be taken care of. I don't blame you for being pizzed. A new car should almost be trouble free.

  5. Thanks for this topic and the updates.

I'm also getting the burning smell. (2007 SEL FWD)

Do you have"front wheel drive". If so you would be the first FWD on this board to have that problem, I think.

Every car with this problem seems to be AWD. Now I'm getting nervous about mine!!

  6. 2007 SEL+ 2500 mi I have been getting 19mpg mixed driving so far. I check it the old

fashon way each fillup and the computer has been right on the money also. I have seen

numbers high and low but if I was getting 10-12 I would think something is wrong.

  7. Quick weigh-in on this from here... same issue with my '08 AWD (1400mi)... subtle low-toned 'grinding' or rumble/scraping noise as has been described during first drive off after sitting, when applying brakes.. especially during wet weather. Stops after the second or third brake application. Mine seems to come mostly from the front left each time, but that may just be because that's the closest wheel to my ears(?)...

I also have the same noise, 07 SEL+. After reading this thread and others I'm

now convinced its rust on the rotors. The last time I was at the dealers lot, I

looked at some of the new cars and suvs' rotors. Most of them had noticable

rust on them. Some looked like they were painted orange, while others looked

    normal.

  8. Just turned over 500 miles on the Edge - almost 3,000 on the MKX.

No issues on either. Tried the hypermiler techniques going to my dealership last week (to visit) - 40 miles on highway at 55 mph and got 29.6 mpg. I think by Spring when I'm ready for a full raod trip 1,000 miles each way. I'll get very high 20's on the road. Getting 21 Mpg overall - but mostly stop and go.

Love both vehicles. The 2007 Edge is an SEL+ with back up sensors, memory seat, audio system with Sirius, cargo management, 18" wheels, leather, etc. Did not get the BAMR, DVD or Navigation. We bought the Edge and leased the MKX - we'll decide in another 18 months which to keep and which to let our son buy from us -(they love them also.)

    I have been a GM guy all my life, I'm 58. That is until I bought a 2007 SEL+.

I now have 1600 miles on it with zero complaints. I cant wait to drive it. Almost

makes me feel like a kid again. Hope the feeling continues. Good luck

  9. Hi again Biff215. :D The Ford recommended maintenance schedule is 7500 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first. When you hit 6 months, bring it in for the oil change.

Even if you don't drive 7500 miles every 6 months, the maintenance schedule still calls for the change. And if your Service Plan covers scheduled maintenance, it logically covers an oil change every 7500 miles/6 months.

I also do not drive less than 7500 every 6 months, so I just change the oil at 6 month intervals.

It is all spelled out in the Maintenance Schedule booklet.

    Good luck! :beerchug:

My plan says I get 3 oil changes in 2 years. I can get them at any mileage

I like. I plan on getting the first one at 3000 because the car will be 6

months old then. After that I'll play it by ear.

  10. What color is your Ford Edge or Lincoln MKX and why did you choose it?

Pewter Met I wanted a 2007 because of the great deal the dealer

was offering. Had about 10 SEL's to choose from. The Pewter was

the closest to what I wanted. I traded in a 2001 Chevy Blazer and,

you guessed it, my chevy was a pewter also. However the Edge

is a darker pewter which I think looks great with the "crome" wheels,

and it doesn't show dirt like a dark one.

I will admit though, there is nothing better looking than a shiney black car.

  11. Hi everyone-

When we bought our Edge back in July, there was some kind of deal going on that provided a complimentary service plan for 24,000 miles. Unfortunately, I can't find any paperwork about it from the dealer. I'm coming up on 5,000 miles, which I think is when we can get our first service. I'm taking it to a local dealer who I didn't buy it from, so I want to make sure I have everything together before heading over there.

Does anyone have any information on this plan? Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Brian

I am in the same boat. Went to the dealer near my home,(not the one I bought

the car from), to ask about oil change intervals and such. They said "depends on

your plan". I'm going to call the dealer tommorow and find out whats up. I too

received no paperwork, which was my fault for not asking. But when you have

"new car fever" it's hard to remember everything.

  12. Hi Kevin. :D Yes, that is why America is such a great country. We can all do/buy whatever we like, and whatever makes us happy (as long as we don't hurt anyone else  )!

Good luck with your CUV (Edge, MKX?). :beerchug:

I do not need AWD for a number of reason, HOWEVER: Our economy

is built to sell things to people that they don't really "need". The list

    would be absolutly endless.
