  1. About 3500 miles into Limited with Ecoboost and am getting 27 - 29 mpg so far, 75% of which is highway. Don't notice any power / performance issues whatsoever. In fact, my 5.4 Expy that I had for 12 years and 225,000 miles had 265 hp, whereas this is 240hp. Heck, my '95 t-bird 4.6l had 200hp. So going from 0-60 in about 7.5 sec and getting close to 30 mpg is very much a no brainer for me, even with the additional front end cost. I also would expect re-sale value to account for some of the add'l up front cost, particularly as fuel prices continue to rise. The Range Rover Evoque basically uses the same motor (made in Spain I believe) in a fairly high-end vehicle, which has been universally well reviewed. Thankfully, my boat is only about 1500lbs, so can pull it with no issues. Kinda wish Ford would use some of their European diesel's over here. They can make financial sense when getting 40-50 mpg, even with increase vehicle & fuel cost. Performance is much improved with the new turbo diesels (no lag, tons of torque).
  2. Definitely the steering wheel, both in terms of angle and amount of tilt travel as well as having the 6 o'clock position open and not closed with the center bracing. No underhood light is simply ridiculous, how much $ was saved on that? I am adding one now.
  3. With the hood up, 2.0 sounds very much like a diesel, which I also equate to a sewing machine. Having driven some very good diesels lately in Europe (BMW & Audi), I actually don't find the sound to be a problem at all. From the cabin, all is quiet and the performance is definitely there, including 27-29 mpg combined so far (6 weeks).
  4. One month into my 2012 Edge 2.0l Limited and all is great so far. Mileage is 27 - 29mpg. Ride is great. MFT has not presented with any bugs as of yet. Came from an Expedition and have quickly adapted to having less room due to being more nimble - although the turning radius actually seems to be less believe it or not. The only thing I would change is the amount of adjustment in the steering wheel - needs to go lower and have the angle changed as it is too much to the horizontal. Also, do not like having the 6 o'clock portion of the steering wheel not 'open' with the bracing there. I also installed tow hitch to pull my 1500 boat & trailer, which I have not yet attempted. Curious to see how the ecoboost is able to handle it.
  5. The '01 Expedition was on borrowed time at 225K+ miles. I really loved the ride and having all the room when I needed it, but found that to be less and less of a real need. I also began to really loath the amount of fuel that I was burning through - just to basically commute back and forth to work. I researched new vehicles for no less than 3 years before pulling the trigger on '12 Edge Limited. It actually was not on my radar screen until just recently. I concluded that the 2.0 ecoboost was the way to go. It is not well mated in the Explorer and waiting on the '13 Fusion was not doable and nearly as practical as going with a CUV. So it honestly came down to a Toyota Sienna and VW Passat tdi. As I really didn't need all the room of the Sienna, it was out. As I needed a bit more room than the Passat, it was the Edge. Am glad I got one with most all of the options as I have come to expect those things that are in my wife's SRX. The only item I wish I could change on the vehicle is amount and level of variability in the steering wheel adjustment. It needs to go lower and have a revised angle. Absent that, everything is great at this point (1500 miles).
  6. After the first 1500 miles, I am averaging 28mpg on ecoboost. Mixed driving, although more heavily weighted towards highway. Ecoboost makes sense if do not need towing capacity, do not need awd and plan on keeping veh >=3 yrs. I would also suspect the resale value may be positively impacted with the ecoboost - due to rising fuel prices. Plus, it is smooth as silk.
  7. I have to say I like the look of the Draw Tite 75709 over the Curt, having, of course, just installed the Curt. Oh well. I am now ready to tackle the wiring on my 2012. I will not actually require a brake controller at any point - just pulling 16' Alumacraft w/50hp. Could I not just tie into the existing wiring harness connector that is located underneath along the rear bumper rather than at the tail lamps as I will not require the brake controller? Really wish Ford had provided the standard 4 pin connector on all models as they do on some other SUVs, primarily my '01 Expy.
