  1. Well, maybe its the tranny, maybe its the diff either way its something! So even after the service to replace my faulty power steering hose. They "washed" the under carriage the propane smell is still VERY present and if anything stronger. When we got home last night from work we almost smelt a tar smell. The sounds were louder as well. Left for work today nothing new. Same whining sounds but according to Ford everything was fixed. Had to stop at a train crossing this morning due to a train. Got to a red light in town and the vehicle stuttered rather violently to a halt. Took a bit of power to get it to move as well. Good thing Ford was a block away from that red light! Opened the windows there was a noticeable and very loud grinding sound. So like KC said, it very well might be my front diff! In the shop right now, I hope to hear back from them soon to know the damage. Good thing she's still under warranty!
  2. Took it in due to my power steering leak, they also said the oil was blowing all over the exhaust causing the propane smell. They washed the under carriage after changing the hose. When I got home there was still the tell tale smell of propane but perhaps they didn't wash well enough. If it persists for a few more weeks then its back to the dealership I go.
  3. All right, went to pick up some power steering fluid topped it off started the vehicle revved a bit and moving the wheel slowly to let it drink up. Topped off again did the same thing over again. Seemed to level out. But it still makes the whining noises on start up and till revs hit a certain speed then it goes away. Had to phone Ford at this point. They told me certain line ups on their vehicles have hoses made from "new materials" that cant stand the pressure and rupture. Funnier thing is its not a recall of any sort. If your out of warranty your SoL. But yeah the guy on the other end immediately told me what it was without thinking for even a second. So I have it booked for Saturday to get the hose replaced and hopefully the pump is fine, if not that gets replaced as well!
  4. Hey, we are wondering if this is the power steering reservoir or something else: Once the engine gets a slight load, and when started from a cold start (after off for the night, or work day) the engine bay is putting out one hell of a whining noise. Looked inside, couldn't find anything but did see this tank VERY empty. You can see its at the tube and the min/max lines are both near the top. When we turn the wheel left or right there is more of a whining sound. The sound picks up with speed but gets quieter as the engine gets warmer but is still noticeable. Anyway, any help is appreciated. The sound started on Friday and is worse today. May need to take it in. Filling it may stop the problem but if its that empty, then there might be a leak somewhere I reckon unless that tank empties regularly.
  5. Its about half a year old now with close to 70k KM attached to it (work is too far away) and yes, it is an AWD. It just started too which was very weird. When it was new the only smell was new car smell. I may need to phone Ford if this persists unless its nothing to worry about.
  6. Hey, so this morning when I got to work, turned the car off, and all the sudden a very strong propane smell hit me. Driving home at some point this afternoon there was a slight propane smell. Then again once I got home and turned the car off, again propane smell. I don't have a tank in the back for emergency BBQs. I don't understand this! Is there something that can smell like propane, or am I simply craving BBQ?
  7. Hey, So I got a soundscreen windshield. Does Ford put anything on the interior of the window? I ask because back in the day I was trying out a magic eraser on my dad's old focus cause nothing else got rid of nicotine, however the eraser did! While I don't allow anyone to smoke in my Edge, every time I clean the windows I get swirls and smudges galore. I'd like to try the eraser on it, however before I do I want to make sure it wont damage anything, like lets say a plastic or silicone film they might put on the window. Thanks in advance.
  8. I came here to ask roughly the same question. Its only happened to me twice now since getting the car, I filled it this evening put $57 into the car (so I know its a full tank) and pulled off, started driving and noticed the tank only read half and the KM to empty was around 300. It took its sweet ass time to get to full, a lot slower then before too. The KM to empty revised even slower and when I got home it read 566 to E rather then just under 600 (a full tank gets me around 628 km to E.) The previous time happened sometime last year. I came here to ask but I see someone else also has the same problems only more common then me. So I will phone up the dealership tomorrow and see what goes on from there.
  9. Seems the front fender at the base also got partially ripped off. On the same ford site, I'm looking at a part #28370 and called Wheel Housing Splash Shield. Is this the front part of the wheel well that hides the wires and connectivity for the vertical DRLs? edit: Nvm I just found it, called the Fender shield, and it comes in as 1 piece rather then what looks like on the vehicle as multiple parts. Unless I'm wrong, please let me know. Thanks
  10. I'm Canadian, ill buy local save on shipping, unless Benny can give me some hyper deals? *wink wink* Thanks however.
  11. I did some browsing, might need 3 parts, and I got the 3 part #s from fords official website, I guess it is. I might need both Front bumper covers (the main fascia and the lower black bit) and the front valance. I will need to go check tomorrow, I'm hoping the valance is not damaged. Either way its looking to be around 500 just to buy, I hope that equals paint match. Still not as bad as I first thought.
  12. Hey, I need the front fascia and the lower rocker panel that attaches to the fascia please. (if that is called a rocker panel, the sides are, so I'll call the front that too!) I want to phone up my dealer and get just a price, even though I know its going to be very expensive. Waiting to pass a semi last night, and he dumped a pile of icy build up from I'm guessing one of his wheel wells, clipped my fascia, now I'm missing a chunk and the lower rocker panel. In a way I got lucky as its JUST under the vertical DRL. I'm still very annoyed no matter how "lucky" I may feel however as while it may be illegal to drive around with snow build up even for a semi, the companies fight these to the teeth in court to make sure they don't get any bills. They even win against speeding tickets..... to boot, his entire rear was covered in snow and ice build up so I could not even get a glimpse of his license plate. Oh well, the hazards of driving the highway all the time with grain trucks all over. Thanks.
  13. So on the weekend I finally finished putting in the front amber lights on the Edge. Tested out fine. Noticed this morning however when driving to work my signals flash at least double the speed of the normal. Leaving work getting onto the highway signals on, flashing slow. I found that if the headlights are on the signals flash fast and off they flash normal speed. I have Daytime Brite's LEDs in the rear and front (the optional LED package 2 reverse 4 amber) Any ideas why this is happening, and how to keep it at normal speed always? Thanks.
  14. So on the 8th I decided I needed my own xmas gift. I got the tails and LED light package. They arrived on the 24th... bloody customs!!!! Installed today and got a chance to check them out. Well in the day, the running lights when headlights are on you can hardly tell they are on. Looks more like sun hitting reflectors. Told someone to press brakes, good. Signals, mmm tasty bright orange. Reverse... I'M BLIND!!! and this is during the day! Once it got nice and dark outside I checked it all out. The floating LED is superb! so crisp and bright. Brakes couldn't really tell as I was out on my own, but could see the flooding of light. Ambers so much light, so nice. When I locked the vehicle and looked at the front a rear ambers SUCH a difference. Then the blinding white reverse lights. So white its almost blue! Gives so much light yet doesn't interfere with the camera which I love! Now I need to wait for my front ambers to arrive and I'm good. Speaking of front ambers, the side ambers on the headlight assembly, is that separate amber, or is it already LED? Also the rear top brake light is that stock ED or regular bulb? All in all I'm VERY please with the purchase. Good looks, bright lights clean installation. Next will be the vertical DRLs. 10/10.
  15. Im really digging the black grille. Im going to get a can or two of Dupli-Color's Shadow, and a can of their primer as well so make my grille black chrome. Silver chrome is bleh, black chrome has always been nice. Thanks for the help and the pic's everyone was a great help.
  16. Thanks again. Here I thought Sport only came in white, since that's the only colour I ever see. I guess I'm a derp for not actually using the tools that my fingers.
  17. Is there a way to allow the vehicle to choose to use the DRLs and orange turn signals as my choice of DRLs over just the headlights when its daytime? I know there is the selector knob on the dash I can use, but knowing me I'll forget something at some time and have to kick myself later. Just want to leave it on auto so I can let the car choose when its dark enough for the headlights and bright enough for DRLs
  18. Thanks, I knew the grille would be silver, the rims I was more wondering about. I read back and stated "I don't know what a black grille and wheels would look like on a silver Edge" however it was a slight typo and meant to just say the rims. The black rims on a silver Edge doesn't look to bad at all. Though How WOULD a black grille look like on a silver Edge, you see the black on white and it looks grand. Any photoshoppers want to dabble in a mission? Thanks though Traveler for the pictures!
  19. Hey, so I've got a silver SEL and want to do something with the chrome. I see this black SEL with the appearance pkg and it looks fantastic. Nice grille, nice wheels too they spot with it. Problem is its a black Edge, so all that black goes well with the look. I don't know what a black grille and wheels would look like on a silver Edge. Has anyone seen a silver Edge with the SEL appearance pkg installed by chance, got a picture or sixteen? I also saw that Dupli-Color Shadow but how would it work on non chrome goods, the painted wheels that comes with the vehicle is a great example, not chrome but more silver then anything. If it work out ok and black with silver isn't so bad then this might be a great solution to loosing all this chrome. Guess I would just buy a can and give it a shot, maybe by a wheel cover with a silver painted colour and simply spray that about.
  20. Hey so with summer in effect so are the road crews. Laying roads down by the miles! With that also comes many miles of fresh tar. No matter how careful you may be it still gets places. Sure I could creep but then I would need to leave home for work 5 hours earlier to get there on time. So! What would clean dried tar well without scratching the finish etc? Getting closer to the end of the season it's looking like road crews have finished their crap for the year from where I live to where I work and everywhere in between. Washed the car today however even though the soap says it cleans tar from vehicles, it did didn't seem to do anything for my tar. Maybe they mean fresh tar, or perhaps they mean it cleans the tar to a sparkling shine! Thanks.
  21. Well, on my wind shield on the bottom left corner there is one decal "Soundscreen" maybe that's the double pane. Id check though we are getting quiet a bit of snow at the moment. Well either way, thanks for the input. Now I can at least put to rest the tire theory, not not go about buying extra tires/rims for no real reason
  22. Hey, so I test drove a used 2011 limited with 20 inch rims. However decided to go with a 2013 SEL with only 18 inch. I don't know if there was a difference any more of not being so long from the test drive (mid October or late September when we test drove and took possession) but I want to say the limited had a quieter ride. Maybe we were still used to the G5's horrible road noise. But I first want to know before going to a dealership and test driving a limited again to be sure, does a limited have any more sound deadening materials then its SEL counterparts? Our dealer said it was the 20s that gave it such a quiet and smooth ride. I want to know all this cause I would like to upgrade from 18s to 20s, especially if it will make the ride more softer and quieter! Dont get me wrong, as long as there isn't a head on wind, the ride is on the quieter side, but I still find it on the loud side. Maybe its because I'm finally used to the vehicle. Thanks!
  23. A tad late, but my 13 SEL also came with the tray and who cares about the coin holder? its in my house atm in a drawer And a gapper here (Saskatchewan)
  24. Hey, wondering if anyone makes a rear winter blade for 2013? Mine keeps icing up from melting snow then refreezing. All the magic happens in the hinges and moving parts of the blade naturally, and with the angle of attack or lack there of one the blade is more of a snow stop allowing snow and road kick up to gather all over the entire blade. The plastic "sheath" doesn't do anything to stop it either. Thanks.
  25. Hey, recently I was wondering why my fob came with a small key inside. Because it dawned on me there are no key entry slots. Well today that slapped me in the face. The driver side door has a key hole, for you guessed it a key. Now what irks me is where did my cover go to begin with? Im sure it came with a cover to hide that messy hole. Could it have blown off while driving highway speeds and being high wind speeds as well (really windy day) All I know is im really mad because of the hole I now see. Is a replacement cheap from Ford, or am I looking at a pricey piece of plastic? Thanks.
