  1. We are very satisfied with our 2013 Edge SEL. It is equipped with MFT and updated to 3.2.2. We traded to the Edge from a 2009 Mercedes C350. We've had the Edge for 3 months and have taken a few one tank trips. On the highway, I find that the Edge is quieter than the C-class. There isn't really anything I miss about the C-class with the minor exception that the C-class has an auto-dimming driver's side mirror. I use the turn-by-turn SYNC service and find it to be up to the task. We were initially disappointed in the quality of the bluetooth phone connection, everyone we called complained about hearing loud background noise. We discovered that if we adjusted the volume using the radio volume control while we were talking in a phone conversation, we could set a volume that eliminated the background noise, (basically adjusting the microphone volume). It is no longer a problem. I listen to Sirius, Pandora and TuneIn Radio, all of which work flawlessly. I have not found any gremlins or had issues with MFT. The voice recognition is superior to the system on the Mercedes, I very seldom have to repeat commands, but when she does misunderstand, hilarity ensues. The power, mileage and build quality all seem to be well above average. The 'sound-screen' windshield works very well in eliminating wind noise at speed. The ride quality is quite good for a tall vehicle and visibility is excellent. The rear camera and sensors work very well and are great features. Mileage around town is about 17 mpg and highway travel at 65mph averages 27mpg, at 75mph+ it drops to about 24mpg. I like using regular gas instead of premium, which was required in the Mercedes. The slightly lower gas mileage of the Edge from the Mercedes is made up by the difference in gas prices. I would recommend the Edge to anyone who is shopping for a quiet, comfortable all-around vehicle.
  2. I haven't run it through it's paces yet, but I wanted to report a successful installation on my 2013 SEL w/MFT, no nav. It took exactly 22 minutes start to finish. Only noticeable change so far is the temp display in the main screen. <eta> did not lose phone info, connections or any other stored info that I can see...
  3. When we took delivery, I had nothing but complaints about the background noise in my calls. I looked online and all through the manual looking for solutions. I was headed to the dealer on the freeway and called them on bluetooth so they could experience the quality of the call. I was put on hold (naturally) and when the muzak from the dealer was playing, I adjusted the volume, using the radio volume knob up a bit, and the muzak sounded a little clearer. When the service dept answered, I fiddled the volume while I was talking to the tech. He said he could hear the difference as I adjusted the volume. I made subsequent calls to others who previously could not tolerate the quality of call and they all reported that the problem was gone. Basically, in my opinion, the volume for phone calls is not tested as the car is built. When customers start making calls in their new car, they probably find that the volume setting is anywhere on the scale. It's a matter of testing up and down with the volume when you are on a call.
  4. I think I found a solution. While you are driving on the freeway make a phone call, and during the call you can adjust the volume of the incoming and outgoing conversation by using the radio volume control. You will need to fiddle with it to 'fine tune' to get the ideal volume. This worked for me and vastly improved the quality of the phone calls on both ends. Try it. We previously had a Mercedes and this trick was in the instruction manual. I cannot find anything in the Ford manuals or on the computer that explains this solution.
