Yes, the 21" wheel option comes with AS tires. Summer only tires are optional for the 21" wheels.
Thanks Magnetic Edge.
That is actually a great option for the northern people that are going to buy a second set of rims/tires for the winter. I recycled this from an earlier post on cost of Ford Edge Sport 21" tires. I got the 2015 Edge Sport tire size but didn't see a speed rating on the images floating around. Mo HP/torque = higher speed rated tire=mo money.
Take a look at the cost of 2015 Edge Sport tire replacement

Akirby - I always value your input because you see a different perspective than I do. That said, if you could give up the heated steering wheel for an advanced TMS, would you?

Magnetic,
Does the 2015 Edge have the individual tire pressure monitoring feature like the 2015 Ford F 150? Please see the link below.
2015 F150 has a great tire pressure monitor. 2007 RAV4 Limited monitors the spare as well. No graphical view, just a common to all indicator light. Not sure how Toyota's tire pressure monitoring system works today. I just thought it was a great idea to monitor the spare as well. The spare is the only tire I cannot easily get a visual indication of how the tire looks until I need it.

Magnetic Edge - Can you explain " 21” Aluminum Premium Painted Tarnished Dark Low Gloss Wheels Summer Only Tires1 (requires 21” Premium Painted Wheels)"? Can I get all season tires on the Sport with the 21" Aluminum Premium Painted Tarnished Dark Low Gloss rims?

Self parking vehicles may appeal to some people but that's because they can't drive. Taking away the need to complete a pretty common and basic driving task such as parallel parking, IMO, is leading to poorer drivers. What happens when they have to park a different vehicle?
Ever go to pay for something at a store and after the cashier has already entered in the amount tendered showing the change due and you hand over some extra coins? What happens? They look at you as if you're handing over a chicken or pig to pay with. They don't need to count anymore so they can't figure it out. Most have to go grab a calculator.
I doubt I would ever use Enhanced Active Park Assist except for a few times to understand how the technology worked. I enjoy parallel/perpendicular parking. If I get an Edge, I would get the Sport with 401A. May wait a year or so and look at the 2016 Lincoln MKX. I like the look of the Edge much better but maybe the MKX is a better fit.
-
The Explorer's mirrors do NOT auto fold. You have to press the switch for them to fold or unfold when required, so don't expect to get the auto fold feature in any case.
Hey Omar. I used the Lincoln MKC for reference and then assumed. Thanks for the correction.
-
This thread is about the US market Edge, not the global one. Just because a feature isn't offered in the US doesn't mean that it won't be on other market's versions. For example the MKX has had power-folding mirrors available in non-US markets for many years.
If US customer's wanted to pay for them, Ford would be offering them. But Ford looks at more data points than just a handful of internet forum posts when they make these decisions.
Thanks Waldo. I fully understand Ford doesn't care what one person posts on some message board that about 20 people read. I understand how things work. Ford states Ford social is a place to post ideas and requests and that is why I said I was going to post there. I DO understand one post on Ford social isn't going to change anything.
My reasoning:
The cost of power folding mirrors on a 2015 Explorer is $505 list. But on an Explorer Sport, power folding mirrors are part of 401A. 401A is the Sport model's highest option package.
2015 ExplorerWidth including mirrors: 90.2"Width with mirrors folded 82.5"2015 EdgeWidth including mirrors: 87.5"Width with mirrors folded 79.1"2016 Edge width has decreased by 1/10 of an inch. So basically the same width as 2015 Edge.First, I agree with everyone here. I didn't think about power folder mirrors until Blitz brought it up. After some thought, it would be great to have power fold mirrors when a new Edge is parked in the garage. Turn the Edge's engine off and mirrors fold in. I would have a wider walkway. Edge has an 8.4" delta between mirrors folded and unfolded. I'm in lock and step with Blitz, not a deal killer but would been useful. Giving up options like trailer tow package on the Sport model hurts. I have a bike rack and tow light loads with my 2001 4Runner. Very handy. No worries. -
Thanks Blitz. As others stated, information will start coming out now. I'm floored that a almost $50,000 CUV doesn't have some basic equipment such as retractable side mirrors and no trailer tow package for the Sport. I may post on http://social.ford.com/ just to piss in the wind. I know Ford isn't going to do anything and I understand how things work.

No, trailer hitch is not available on the Sport.
On the latest Ford Explorer, Sport model, Trailer Tow Package - Class III is standard. I wish the Edge would have made the Trailer Tow Package available on the 2015 Edge Sport.
-
Magnetic Edge - If you don't want to/can't answer any of my questions, I understand.
On the 2015 Ford Edge can the Roof-Rack Side Rails be ordered with the Panoramic Vista Roof? On the 2014 Ford Edge, the Roof-Rack Side Rails could not be ordered with the Panoramic Vista Roof. But the the latest version of the Escape, you can order Roof-Rack Side Rails and Panoramic Vista Roof.
Thanks.

Just NO SPORT in the upcoming Sport model !
Bland and not that distinguishable from the other models
RWF - What do you mean? The 2015 Ford Edge Sport is more of a Sport model than the 2014 Sport model. Are you saying in general, the Edge never had a true Sport model? Are you looking for manual transmission?
-
Also, are any 2015 Edge rims listed as chrome clad aluminum? No more questions, I promise (for today).
-
Magnetic Edge - Thanks for the posts. Wow, no power folding mirrors. I bet wrong on that one. 40K sticker and no power folding mirrors.
How about the 2015 Sport model, are the options limited like on the 2014?
Here is a list of some 2014 Edge Limited Option you cannot get on a 2014 Edge Sport:
Class II Trailer Tow Package with Trailer Sway ControlAdaptive Cruise Control with Collision WarningHigh-Intersity Discharge (HID) HeadlampsRoof-Rack Side Rails (even if Panoramic Vista Roof is not added) -
Anyone have any idea what the humps on the right and left side of the cargo area are? My 2013 has a subwoofer, but it does not take up any space in the cargo area. The two humps in the picture take up space in the cargo area.
I don't own an Edge but are you guys talking about the wheel wells?
-
Exodus - Thanks for the post. I liked the 2015 Edge Sport rims, preproduction better than the Sport rims in the 2015_EDGE_Preview_Guide PDF. I curious of other opinions.

On a little related news, the 2.3 Ecoboost for the Mustang has been rated at 310 hp & 320 lbs-ft if torque.
-
Akirby - Understood. Just trying to add to the conversation. I was looking for a way to interject what I discovered.

That's exactly how pretty much every current Ford is setup. Grab the owner's manual for a 2013 Explorer and read all about it.
Waldo - I agree with you but I believe the 2nd generation Ford Edge is different than 1st generation in regards to the paddle shifters. Currently you have to put the Edge into S to use the + - on the gear shift. With the 2 generation, you can use the paddle shifters anytime.

Also, can you please point out the procedure for setting the height of the power liftgate?

It's setup like the power liftgate on the Escape and Explorer now. Certainly an welcome and expected change.
Thanks Nick. I may stop and look at the Explorer setup.
I try to use Ford's terminology when possible. I should have stated the passenger side has a strut and the driver side has a power liftgate latch piston.

Same Ford Edge 2015 B roll as above but in HD (1080p)

Any idea what the shifter thumb rocker switch is for ~2:53? Also [P]ark, [R]everse, [N]eutral, [D]rive and ? What is S? The paddle shifters can be used anytime so I don't think it is part of the paddle shifter system.
-
Check out (~2:53), how close the Edge gets to the Fusion? during the perpendicular park assist. Matilda has a kill switch sitting on the dashboard. May be just the angle of the camera. I would have asked how close is the Park Assist software to release candidate.
-
Jim, The power lift gate on the 2011-2014 has one strut, and the 2015 has two struts. Is that what you are referring to?
Yes and additionally the 2011 - 2014's one strut mounts inside the Edge (you lose a storage compartment due to the strut mount) while the 2015 struts mount outside the cabin, along the liftgate frame.

Ya Blitz, wish you would stop showing me your great ideas , auto folding power mirrors and advanced TMS to name a few. Maybe Ford is saving these options for the 2016 Lincoln MKX. The 2016 MKX is the only way I get Trailer Tow Package - Class II AND the 2.7L EcoBoost engine. I like the looks Edge Sport much better than the 2016 MKX concept. You and I are in the minority.
