  1. Cellbine - You have my favorite Edge. I still think your Edge was bitten by a black widow spider and your Edge is slowly turning into the Dark Edge. I'm trying to copy your Edge's look onto my 4Runner.
  2. 2015 Ford Edge has TPMS which show individual tire pressures according to the owners manual posted by Magnetic. The spare is not monitored. Page 103. Also most lamps use LED except front direction indicator, headlamps and license plate lamp. Page 275
  3. Akirby - You didn't link the study so I am just going by the information you posted and referencing parts of that. You said 5% in SUV so I looked no further. I can look at the study and offer my input. I'm more concerned about texting. Some kid slammed into me while I was stopped for a red light during a perfect day, great visibility. He said he was adjusting the radio but I didn't buy it. My 4Runner withstood the accident with minimal damage.
  4. Akirby, your statistics didn't indicate that DRL don't help, they show a 5% difference which you stated wasn't statistically significant. But if you have kids driving, you'll take all the 5% you can get. My 2001 4Runner came with DRL and I added a dash switch so I can turn the DRLs off and on. When I drive, I turn off the DRL. When others drive my SUV, I turn on the DRL. I just like than motorcycles stand out with their DRL. If every motor vehicle has DRL, IMO that waters down the motorcycles DRLs.
  5. 2015 Edge concept had a 10" touch screen and the 2014 and 2015 has an 8" touch screen. Given: "Sync 3 will be available next year on Model Year 2016 cars, though Ford spokesman Alan Hall could not say what percentage of cars will still have the old touch screens and which will have the new ones. Because the new touchscreens will include new hardware, owners of the current Sync with MyFord Touch system will not be able to upgrade to Sync 3." I wonder if the new touch screens will be 10" or 8*. My guess is 10" but my predictions thus far hasn't been too accurate.
  6. I went thru Ford Owners site and entered 2014 Ford Edge (they showed the new Escape in the video), so yes on a 2014 Ford Edge. On the Ford Owners I entered 2012 Edge and there was no power Liftgate video. I entered 2013 Ford Ford Edge and there was a power Liftgate video showing the new Escape with height adjustment. So appears the Power Liftgate with height adjustment was first on the 2013 Ford Edge. I believe the older video showed a Ford Explorer.
  7. Ford has had an adjustable Power Liftgate on their SUV/CUV for years. 2014 Ford Edge How-To and Info Videos (change the year link on page) http://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/OwnerVideoPage Power Liftgate [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_U655N7rDRM&fwid=1251735302076[/yt]
  8. No problem Autoansguy. I had the same questions as you and just recycled my research. I find myself in the same situation as you, looking for a CUV/SUV that meets my needs better than the redesigned Edge. As Blitz said in another thread, consider waiting for the redesigned 2016 Lincoln MKX. The MKX may come standard with the 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 and you should be able to get the Class II Trailer Tow Package as well as some other options you may not of even thought of. i believe more details on the 2016 MKX will start coming out soon. If you end up pulling the trigger on the Mercedes Benz GLC, please let me know your impressions. I worked on German equipment and was very impressed with their engineering.
  9. 2016 Ford Explorer Gets a New Face, 2.3L EcoBoost Engine and Platinum Grade http://www.carscoops.com/2014/11/2016-ford-explorer-gets-new-face-23l.html I see similarities to the 2015 Edge.
  10. I need to correct my post. The 7-seat Edge will NOT be produced in Canada. I guess I should have looked closer at Blitz's link. "This new version of the Ford Edge will be manufactured locally by Changan Ford starting in 2015 and sold through the joint venture’s dealerships. Compared with the global version of the Edge unveiled in June in Detroit, the Edge for China adds a third row of seating and other features “tailored specifically to the needs of customers in China.”" Changan has partnered with Ford and Mazda in the past. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ford_factories Blitz - No road trip.
  11. Magnetic Edge - Do you think the 7-seat Edge will be available in Canada? Blitz - Road trip, eh? I grew up close to the Canadian border. Guys drove to Canada to buy trucks back in the day. Had to do with the exchange rate and Ford deals in Canada.
  12. Thanks for the post Blitz. Very astute observation Akirby. "In China, the Ford Edge will be offered exclusively with the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 petrol engine estimated to produce more than 300 hp..." I couldn't help notice the Ford Edge in the link resembles the North America Edge Sport. In image 5/9 you can see the front and lower unique fascia and the fascia integrated exhaust tips which the North America Edge Sport has as well as the 21" premium painted Tarnish dark low gloss aluminum rims. I wish they would have shown the back of the CUV. I was looking for ”运动”. Probably just an Edge since Ford appears to be releasing one model in China. The fog light are also different. The roof-rack side rails are present with the panoramic Vista Roof which isn't available in North America. "Roof-rack side rails (NA with panoramic Vista Roof)" page 6 "2015 Edge Source Book" "2.0L EcoBoost I-4 and 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engines can operate on 87-octane regular fuel but 93-octane premium unleaded fuel is recommended." page 45 "2015 Edge Source Book" "This Edge will still be built in Oakville, Ontario, where Ford recently invested $700 million in a move that guaranteed 3,000 jobs. The Canadian-built Edges will be shipped worldwide, with the exception of the Eastern Bloc, whose units will be made in Russia. Ford Canada employees can therefore breathe a sigh of relief, especially since by 2018, one out of every three of the world’s SUVs will be sold in China—an immense market. This isn’t coming from me; these are the words of Jim Farley, Vice-President Marketing for Ford/Lincoln." http://www.guideautoweb.com/en/articles/25765/2015_ford_edge_from_canada_to_china/
  13. Chris - I ran across this. The story was interesting to me. What day of the month you buy you car may be important as to what deal you get. AT THE CAR LOT The sales team at Town and Country Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram in Levittown, NY, is hustling to sell their quota: 129 new cars by the end of the month. http://www.thisamericanlife.org/at-the-car-lot/
  14. Autoansguy - Here is a video from Ford explaining Edge's trailer sway control. [YT] [/YT]
  15. Welcome to the forum autoansguy. Ford's explanation of sway control on the 2014 Ford Edge. "Tow up to 3,500 lbs. when your Ford Edge is properly equipped with the available Class II Trailer Tow Package, which includes trailer sway control. It works in conjunction with the AdvanceTrac® with RSC® (Roll Stability Control™) to help maintain vehicle and trailer stability while you’re towing a trailer. Trailer sway control applies brake force to individual wheels and, if necessary, the system reduces engine power to help the driver regain control of the vehicle and trailer." "Standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC®) uses two gyroscopic sensors to monitor both yaw rate and roll rate. This allows AdvanceTrac with RSC to help you maintain control whenever it detects wheelslip, understeer, oversteer or roll motion. It also helps maintain control in adverse road conditions such as ice, gravel or rain." http://www.ford.com/crossovers/edge/trim/limited/ Don't get me started on how plastic facia prevents the 2015 Edge Sport from having trailer tow option. I realize the 2015 Edge Sport uses the new engine designed for the 2015 F150. The quick answer is Ford believes the consumers don't want to tow a trailer with the Edge Sport model.
