  1. I purchased my Edge used in 2012 with fewer than 20k miles. It came with Pirelli STRs which can be quite expensive and a rough ride. The size is P245/50R20. My local Pep Boys where I have been taking my Edge for tires and oil changes suggested Cooper Adventure H/T for my next tires. I would like to buy tires that will give me a softer ride so I don't feel every pothole, bump, etc. Any other suggestions?
  2. http://repairpal.com/estimator/ford/edge/water-pump-replacement-cost Find a local repair shop. Buy the parts from a reputable online parts business (Rockauto is good) and have the repair shop give you a quote if you buy the parts and bring it in.
  3. I may be recalling wrong but my past research leads me to believe that the 2010 model is more reliable and has fewer, if any major issues. We bought ours 2010 Limited used about 4 years ago with less than 20,000 miles. It's now at around 60,000 and has been running very well (knock on wood.) I always recommend the extended warranty. I went from a 1999 Ford Explorer Limited and that was a huge upgrade and I'm very happy with the ride.
  4. Twice within the past 6 months two separate drivers flung their doors open in a parking lot into my door (with me in my car!) and left dings in my doors. I have been looking into ways to repair it myself without body work. They're small dings but enough for me to notice and get annoyed with every time I see them. Has anyone tried Pops-A-Dent (As Seen On TV product)? Someone at a parts shop told me and showed me that it worked on his vehicle but how would I know he had a ding? So, I'm coming to the forum to ask others. Thanks!
  5. Just had to replace two tires on our used 2010 Limited Edge. The originals are the Scorpion STRa P245 50 r20. Pirelli says the STR are the newer version of the STRa. Couldn't afford 4 new tires and after returning home from an 11 day trip to Wyoming and Montana, we found a screw in the sidewall of one of the tires. This car is parked in our garage so it must have happened before our trip. Anyway, we have over 41,000 miles on the tires and can't recall how much tread is left on the two older ones but I don't think we'll get 65,000 miles out of them. Too bad we couldn't afford 4 tires. Won't be able to rotate them now from back to front since it is highly recommended that the 2 new tires are on the rear to prevent fishtailing even in a FWD. Ah well! Another point of interest is the "old" tires have dry rot. That shouldn't be but I should have noticed that when my husband and I purchased it but we failed to look at the tires. We had our mechanic check everything but didn't look over tires. Lesson learned.
  6. Ours is a 2010 Limited as well. We bought it used about 2 years ago. Our 1999 Ford "Exploder" was a limited and had some fantastic bells and whistles that this lacks. For one, the oil change reminder is one that I miss. It doesn't come with any of the 2010 models so that's hogwash. I thoroughly researched that before we bought it. The 20' tires was an upgrade not standard on the 2010 Limited Edge. We have them but I have heard the 18' are a better ride. As for the cancel for cruise control, OFF and ON are used on the steering column to engage the cruise control and turn it off. We don't have the computer "screen" on ours for which I am most thankful because there were too many issues with that from what I researched. Still, I love this vehicle although I'd have preferred the new Explorer but our budget would not allow for that....THIS time. Congratulations on your purchase! I think you will be pleased. We have the BAMR, too and love how it makes the Edge feel even more roomy.
  7. Have no idea about your question, 2011edgese. I still have to get my Edge into the shop to have them take a look at it but I'm afraid it's going to be a long battle and since it doesn't happen all the time, they won't be able to figure it out.
  8. I don't have AWD so it's not the problem I"m having with mine. Good luck with yours. I see the cost for repairs for yours is $1300. That's a pretty big ouch for this time of year. I have an extended warranty so as long as they find the issue before I hit 100,000 miles I'm good minus $100 deductible.
  9. Wow! This problem has happened at least 6-10 times since we owned our used 2010 Edge Limited for a little over a year. It's really frightening to hear and feel this abrupt and powerful THUMP. We traded in a 1999 Ford Explorer Limited with 148,000 miles since it was starting to have issues we didn't want to finance. We may have been better off keeping it! I thoroughly researched the 2010 Edge for any known issues and was sure this was an excellent purchase. I really enjoy this vehicle and find it excellent in most ways but this issue is so unsettling and has been happening more frequently and much more noticeable. I will be making an appointment next week for an oil change, tire rotation and more importantly this issue. I can only hope that the dealer from whom we purchased this takes me seriously after I share all of the above information and TSB. There is nothing normal or safe about this. It's not something for which I need to change my driving habits. This is a problem that Ford needs to acknowledge and perhaps consider a recall if it's happening with newer models. Any new information about this would be helpful.
  10. I guess these are all old posts but I thought I'd try to get a response on what appears to be the same issue that others posted on. I bought my used 2010 Ford Edge Limited a little over a year ago and within the first few months noticed this similar problem has happened about 6-10 times since I've owned the vehicle. Most recently, while pulling out into traffic and accelerating (not too quickly), the transmission (clearly) feels and sounds as if it's going to drop literally onto the ground. Another description would be it feels as if I'm being rear-ended. This isn't a small sound or bump. It's extremely noticeable and very frightening. Although the vehicle doesn't come to a complete stop, I am able to keep the vehicle moving it's as if the transmission is having great difficulty changing gears. Of course it happens so rapidly that I'm unable to check the RPM's. I have plans to take it to the dealer but since it doesn't happen every time I'm afraid they won't be able to replicate the problem. I have an extended warranty although I believe the transmission is covered up to 100,000 miles, no? If anyone has any information regarding this issue, I'd really appreciate it.
