  1. Got all my stuff ordered. I'll probably take pictures of the whole process and post them up after it's done. I got some MDF today to make a box for the two amps and the large cap once I get everything. I'm glad these cars already come with a pretty hefty 165 amp alternator. =) I took parts of the car apart today and I think I know how I want to tackle it and run all the wiring. Luckily it looks like there's plenty of enough room for my 0 ga power wire to run up the driver's side door threshold. I had 2 ga wiring in my Mazda and I had to do some "custom modifications" to get it to fit heh.
  2. Another question: Where should I tap into for the blue power on/off wire for the amp(s) i install? In my experience every car company uses different colours all the time for that too, I think on my last car (2008 mazdaspeed 3) I just tapped into the main power wire for the head unit and it worked fine. Would that also work for my Edge?
  3. Thanks for the info. I hope my 2011 is the same.
  4. I want to put a line out converter for an amp in my suv, but for over two years I have not been able to find a reliable wiring diagram or print out. I have a 2011 Edge with MFT (no reverse camera) and the standard amp/speaker setup. Does anyone know the colours for the two front speaker wires?
  5. You will find good and bad examples of every vehicle, My parents' yaris (which is usually a bombproof vehicle) had its VVTi system go at 35,000 kms and the alternator at 50,000. It has 198,000 kms now with no other problems, though. Luckily both of those repairs were done under warranty. Anyway, I got the caliper today. Im going to install it Saturday. Its fun to also have a sport bike as I can always leave the car at home haha.
  6. Just ordered the caliper from Part Source. $161 CAD tax in, will get $50 back when I return my old caliper. Great price.
  7. The smell is burning brake pads, same as a burnt clutch. The caliper is not leaking. Fluid levels are fine.
  8. Well my rear left brake seized a couple weeks ago and I had to do an emergency road side brake service to get myself home that day. Last weekend I replaced the rear rotors and pads because everything on that brake was burnt to a crisp. I drove about 400 kms this weekend back and forth on city highways and I noticed the brake burning smell again, but the caliper is still free. The rear left again has heat discolouration on the new rotor, but seemed just as hot as the rear right side which has very little discolouration. I'm thinking of just getting two rebuilt calipers for the rear. Will this fix the rubbing problem it has? Is there any way I can go about fixing it? This is very annoying, I only have 87,000 kms on the damn thing. It's a 2011 BTW.
  9. The 2011 panel looks different than the 07-10 door panel, but thanks. The 11 has no plug for a screw under it in the door handle or anything. Could only find two screws on the bottom. I'll figure it out eventually anwyay, I'm pretty good with working on my cars and bike.
  10. I am having this problem with my '11 SEL now too, it's at 71,300 kms. I just want to double check, so buying and replacing the driver's door latch assembly will fix this problem as the sensor is build in? Also, how are the door panels removed in the Edge? Is it just the two screws on the bottom, then it pulls out and lifts up like normal cars? I'll be doing the work myself. Thanks.
  11. Thanks for the replies. I know how to do it, I've done it many times before, was just wondering what Ford recommended for this vehicle. I actually just did it yesterday on my friend's work truck which is a 2004 ram 2500 with the 5.7L motor. That rear end is a beast and takes 4 liters of gear lube. After about 50,000 kms it was all black and smelled absolutely horrible.
  12. Does anyone know the service interval for changing out the gear oil in the rear diff and the amount of oil it uses? Couldn't find it in the owner's manual.
  13. Thanks. I checked Google for a while, but to no use. Do you have any idea the wire colour coding for the two front speakers for me to run a LOC?
