  1. I do have the USB port in the center console so I'm good there, I ask because I know I read a while back on another Ford forum (Mustang, Focus, F150 ??) that there was a extra hidden factory USB port (might be mini USB, like on a phone) somewhere under the dash that was usable and owners were connecting iPods and keeping them in the glove box.
  2. this panel fell off the other day and I only have 1,000 mi on my Edge! easy to re attach pushing the trim screws back in, but I did not put a lot of thought into it, does anyone know if there is a 2nd USB port hidden up above this panel or behind the glove box?
  3. Ford Credit says no, and also that the dealership does not get charged back (dealership did say they do if I don't make at least 4 payments to Ford Credit). They can bill me, haha!
  4. Now, lets discuss..... What happens if I buy an ESP tomorrow, and then my Edge gets lost, stolen or God forbid totaled, let's say this happens even before it's out of the 3/36,000 warranty, is there any credit back or would i have spent money on something that would be as lost as the vehicle? Does this make a case for waiting to buy an ESP just before the original factory warranty is up even if it's a little (or a lot) more expensive at that time?
  5. HAZ said After speaking with several Ford ESP reps in Dearborn, I've learned that Ford has changed their position on ESP coverage for dealer-installed genuine Ford-Lincoln accessories. If an otherwise-covered item needing repair was not installed at the factory, then Ford ESP will not cover it. I made clear to the ESP reps that the hypothetical Remote Start was Ford-branded and materially identical to the factory-installed unit, but was installed by a trained dealership technician. The reps said regardless of the accessory being Ford-branded or not, anything not installed at the factory is considered a modification with an aftermarket/non-factory-installed product. So, if anything is to be added by the dealer, prior to new vehicle purchase or after the original purchase date, make sure you know what the warranty period will be for the item, whether Ford-branded or not. Ford ESP will not extend coverage to non-factory items. I regret relying on what is now an out-of-date ESP reference. My original comment on this topic was wrong. ESP rep said First Day Rental coverage provides reimbursement for a rental when the ESP-covered vehicle is in for an 8-hour or less duration repair. ESP rep said the 10-day maximum rental reimbursement limitation applies in the case of long-term repair actions, however, the ESP rep said the dealership should work with the customer on providing a replacement vehicle in excess of a 10-day duration repair. Good luck!
  6. SEL13AWD said Haz, on 23 Jan 2013 - 23:08, said: Regarding the add-on Remote Start unit: Dealer-installed genuine Ford-Lincoln accessories are covered under Ford ESP. Haz, does it have to be installed before taking delivery to be covered (or before buying the ESP) or is it just covered because it's a dealer installed accessory?
  7. Mark94 said Gotcha, thanks HAZ and JOEHIO. I'll get the rate I would pay over 7 years from Geico and weigh that with the $250 deductable. Just ran the numbers on Anderson and Koch along with Flood Ford. Flood Ford actually came out a bit cheaper than A/K. 2013 FWD Edge Premium Care 6 Year term $0.00 deductible 125,000 mile protection (wife drives about 21,000 miles a year) First day rental - Anyone know how many days they give you a rental? is it up to 10 days? I know the extended rental gives you a larger allowance and up to 10 days. Didn't chose the extended rental A/K price = $2,010 Flood Ford price = $1,980
  8. JOEHIO said Beware of extended warranty's other than Ford. About 4 years ago, my wife's sister bought a used Ford Five Hundred, took an extended warranty through the Ford dealeership she bought the car at, that was not a Ford one, some other company. When the throttle body went, this was not covered, cost her $1,300 for the repair, then a few months later, another repair was not covered, so another $900. These repairs would have been covered under Fords ESP warranty. Original warranty was $1,400, plus the 2 repairs came to $3,600 out the window !
  9. Haz said Regarding the add-on Remote Start unit: Dealer-installed genuine Ford-Lincoln accessories are covered under Ford ESP. If you are comparing Ford ESP to GEICO MBI, make sure you understand GEICO's process differences in addition to any cost differences. I buy zero-deductible Ford ESP because of its simplicity and universality-- I drive to any Ford-Lincoln dealer and they fix my vehicle for no charge. Every Ford-Lincoln dealer sells ESP and they know its claims process inside and out. The same cannot be said for GEICO MBI and their universe of licensed repair facilities which GEICO says I should prefer after paying their $250 deductible. Good luck!
  10. Mark94 said I'm also most likely going with the extended warranty plan from my insurance company. They offer a 7 year/100,000 "mechanical breakdown" bumper to bumper warranty that covers everything besides wear and tear items. Maybe call your insurance company and ask if they offer this and compare the cost to some of these other programs.
  11. SEL13AWD said good show! Keep me posted. I will probably do the same, I have to get through the vehicle purchase first, Then I can start the ESP buying thread, ha ha, for questions like "what does first day rental mean" is that only one free day, and "is the enhanced rental limted to 10 days over the life of the ESP" ?
  12. ls973800 said Well, after responding to this post with some ESP prices and searches, I have decided to pull the trigger and buy one for my 2013 from Anderson and Koch. I have been planning on getting one before my 12 months/12000 miles are up, and doing some checking around to help the OP convinced me I might as well buy now. Anderson and Koch is $140.00 less than the lowest price I could find on line. They have listed $1660.00 for my 2013 Edge 2WD, 84 months, 100000 miles, Premium Care, $0.00 deductible. No need for me to pay the extra cost for an upgraded rental, just the $70.00 which is included in the quote for the first day rental coverage. I am waiting on one reply to an inquiry I sent to one last dealer asking for their "discount" code before I call Anderson and Koch and buy it.
  13. SEL13AWD said info came from the dealer, i knew there were other ESP options, i was thinking about showing the price from the Anderson and Koch site and asking if they'll match it, but with sales tax consideration, i'll just buy online, probably from them. does anyone know any other good sites to check prices and buy online? at least there's no pressure on me to do it by Friday, the day i take delivery.
  14. ls973800 said edit: this is for the Premuum Care with the $100 Deductible, the only one Ford now offe Not sure where you came up with this? According to the Ford site and the Anderson and Koch site, you can still get the $0.00 deductible. Pricing my 2013 Limited with a 7 year, 100000 mile, $0.00 deductible the cost was around $1550.00. Well worth the $0.00 deductible extra cost of about $455.00 or so versus getting the $100.00 deductible with the same years and mileage. I know I would have more than 4 service visits within 7 years or 100000 miles, and I would hate to have to pay $100.00 each time. Mine is 2WD. Your AWD on Anderson and Koch with $0.00 deductible, 100000 miles, Premium Care (best there is) is $1750. Right there you picked up 25000 more miles and a zero deductible compared to what you are paying the same price for with your dealer. The first day rental and extended rental would be extra cost. Please take the advice given by other members and check the prices yourself on line. You usually don't pay sales tax either if you buy on line from out of state! The policy is issued by Ford and is good at ALL Ford dealerships! Don't let your dealer tell you otherwise!
  15. SEL13AWD said finance guy at the dealership offered me the 7 year 75,000 miles ESP for $1,795 if I buy it when I close on Friday. I asked him how much it would be if i bought in a few weeks, when I would have more funds available, and he said he had no idea (ha!) but it would be much higher and i should do it now. What do you guys think? edit: this is for the Premuum Care with the $100 Deductible, the only one Ford now offers (?) Haz, wow! Anderson and Koch ..... 16. Haz said If you're considering Ford ESP coverage, Anderson and Koch was nearly $1,000 cheaper than Ford ESP Headquarters' call-in quote and about $500 cheaper than the local Ford dealer's price for zero deductable, 7 year, 125k miles, 1st day/upgraded rental.
  17. The following is a copy/paste of discussion points of buying a Ford ESP that got intermingled with my "I'm buying a 2013 AWD SEL !" topic, I would like to discuss this futher and this will shamelessly up my post count! I hope it's ok with the moderators to have it in "Buying, Leasing & Ordering", "Recalls, TSBs & Warranty" seams to have mostly "mechanical" topics posted and i consider this a "Buying" topic. so here it begins...
  18. Today, I signed the doc’s with Bank of America to refinance my amazing 6.45%, 5 year Ford Credit loan, same term with Bank of America, my 2013 used car rate 1.59% ! Awesome ! (same feeling as getting the Deep Impact Metallic Blue! ha ha) A check for the ten day payoff amount is supposed to have been sent out overnight to Ford Credit today. As you all know I closed on the purchase of the Edge on Friday, January 25. I started calling Ford Credit for my loan account number once each day starting on Monday, January 28, so four business days to get set up on their system, maybe three as I called pretty early in the day yesterday. Some of the representatives told me it might take a couple of weeks, depending on how fast the dealership gets the documents over to them and the time it takes Ford Credit to get the loan loaded up on their system. I discovered an interesting thing, I’m being charged two extra days of interest, my loan start date with Ford Credit is January 23rd. That was the date the dealership finance guy priced everything out for me (and I tried unsucessfully to get him to lower that juicy Ford rate). When I went to sign the doc’s at the dealership and take delivery, I did notice the date of the 23rd, but I did not put much thought into it. I brought it to the attention of the Ford Credit rep today and she told me there was nothing they could do about it, as it’s on the loan doc, and I would have to go back to the dealership and have them reverse and reprocess the paperwork, too much trouble for about $7.00 in interest, and I am already refinancing it. But I want others to be aware of this on their future "stealership" purchases.

Pic is from when I saw my Edge for the first time, Thursday 1/24/2013, after it's 275 mile ride from Utica NY. Pic's a little grainy, it was about 5 degrees out and with the wind chill way below zero.
