Has anyone been able to define what the "Sport Suspension" entails? Different shocks, springs, sway bar, etc? The question was asked early on, but as far as I can tell in searching the forums it has not been answered. I am trying to determine if I want to go with the 20" wheels and sport suspension that Ford offers or go with and aftermarket wheel and springs kit.
Any information that can be provided will be greatly appreciated.
Clayton
20" wheels and lower springs and firmer shocks what I was told. I drove both, and the sport handles much better, not mushy

One more thing to add:
The engine cover trim panel on the MKX is beautiful. It would really look nice on the Edge with a blue "Ford" oval on it. Ford should include this piece on the Edge. It covers all of the "busy" clutter on the top of the engine and gives a "finished" look to the engine bay.
I like it so much I'm thinking of ordering one for my Edge.
Me too, how is it insalled? I think I would like one too. the edge engine bay is ugly

I had to write this,
1, You can't vent the Vista roof without fully opening the sun shade.. SUCKS
2. mpg...HORRIBLE..I drive very easy too.
3. Navigation - NO POI's hardly, I had to find a big school in Ann Arbor MI, not there and they are next to a large well known Church - not there either. THEY WERE THERE IN MY CHEAP MIO NAVI - THANK GOD
and the GUI is very confussing, I found several mistakes in screens too. I am a programmer and a developer.
Maybe Ford will read this. If this does not change, this is my last FORD!!!
What are you top 3 gripes.

OMG,
I worked for one of the big three in quality control, and this is DEFINETLY A BUY BACK..
DO NOT, DO NOT TAKE ANY GUFF. THIS IS THE WORST factory PAINT JOB I HAVE EVER SEEN.
DO NOT JUST LET THEM PAINT THIS. DEMAND A BUY BACK OR EXCHANGE.
The paint system was not monitored and it was almost out of paint when this car was painted. It was suppose to be returned to plant becuase of this.
Get as public as you can on this issue, post in every ford forum and get the local factory rep on this.
THEY WILL OFFER YOU MONEY BACK TOO, DON'T TAKE IT. THIS IS BAD...
THIS IS SOMETHING THAT FORD DOES NOT WANT PUBLIC,
I am from Dearborn MI, FORD country, and I know a lot of people there, I will try to help. Please keep us informed.

Hi
I noticed a new Sync update. This update want know the version you are running.
what I don't like is that this update wants to install an ACTIVEX on my pc. and some old 2005 files. I am running VISTA
and do not like this.
anyone install it.

I have a 2008 MKX and the controls for the vista roof do in fact light up at night. The buttons to open the roof have lights where you activate for opening and closing. The buttons to operate the shades light up as well but the labels "open" and "close" actually light up. Not much more than that and is quite easy to use. The only button that does not light is the tilt button but it is fairly obvious by touch since it sticks out further than the rest of the panel. This may be different on the Edge.
wow, I wonder if i can get the swiches and replace them see...they just cut cost on the Edge.
can you post a picture of the vista roof buttons.
I am calling a parts guy to see whats up

You're not missing much...Ford did not do much to dress up the engine on the Edge.
Nasty engine bay..and valve covers are all spoted. terrible

BTW, i did disable my DRLs. I thought that would be the easy fix to my problem...apparently not.
was that after you tried it or before.

I'm in Kingston, Ontario. About 2.5 hours East of Toronto.
Don't know if I can return my McCullogh kit but I will definitely try. If not, I'll put it on ebay, I'm sure it works fine in some vehicles.
Please let me know if you can set me up with a good deal on an MTEC kit.
Thanks again.
Sure, we have them on order. It is an H11 kit. we use alot of H11's in cars today, esp on fog lights.
-
Thanks. I'm actually in Canada but if you are willing to ship me a kit, let me know. I'm just about to give up on this whole hid thing but might give it one more shot if you are sure this will work.
Thanks!
Where in canada, come to Toledo and we can do it
PS. You can not use the DRL with ANY HID kit. You must turn it off. I turn my HID on all the time anyway.
it you ran your DRL, which run the low beams at reduced power, you may have damaged the ballast anyway. make sure they are off in the BCM module. You have to have them programmed off. Reduced power will cause flicker too.

Don't give up. We are working on instructions and the kit for the Ford Edge too. It would be done with 30 days. You just have to have the right ballast for this to work.
OH, the kit we use the ballast is tiny too, 1/2 the size of the McC kit. Watch for our picture soon.

Hi Tiffany, thank you for the information. That's too bad because I spent alot of $$ on a McCullough kit as I heard they were very good. Might have to look into this a little more. By the way, are your HIDs 6,000K?
Can you get your money back. There are only a few kits that will work on the Edge or Ford products period. We have done alot of trial and testing.
-
One more thing, can you tell me where to get an MTEC kit if i was willing to give it a shot?
Thanks again.
I will ask the other half. and if you are around the Toledo area, we can do it for. Mine is installed to look like factory, if you open my hood, you would think it is factory. I will post some pictures this weekend.

I know, we just change a honda element from McCullough to MTEC because of the connections corroding.
yes, 6K very good. they are perfect color too. no yellow and very just enought blue to look good. Remember, to much blue is bad at night.

Hello, I installed a plug n play hid system (McCullogh) in my Edge yesterday (please no lectures on pnp hid kits) and I can't seem to get it to work. When i turn on the car, they come on for a few seconds, flicker then go out. I've deactivated the DRL and still no luck. It's not blowing fuses so I don't think a relay would be needed (plus, these kits don't seem to require relays). If you think a relay is needed, can these be bought anywhere locally instead of having to order one online. I would image Best Buy's car audio section might carry that sort of thing?
Can anybody with HIDs in their Edges please help me out.
Thank you very much!
it is the McCullogh kit that is doing this. it is old technology.

We own a car installation shop. First McCullogh are garbage. The are not very good and fail easy. I have MTEC on my Ford Edge D2 kit and they work flawless. they are true PNP. They are made in Japan and are very very high quality. Connections are water tight, and the ballast do not produce much heat. We have installed tons of them. THEY ARE FULL DIGITAL BALLAST. This is what is needed to work with the Edge
I can do a picture this weekend and post our installation. And no wire relay harnessw was needed. if you get a good kit, it will work with the factory output level. We use to sell McCullogh, but the failure rate was too high to sell them any more.
My edge has had my HID on for a month now, 3K mile vacation to Florida and back, in the rain and 8 hours of night driving too.

Hi Tiffany. :D No they are not interchangeable.
Good luck! :beerchug:
Kisses...thanks

I like the MKX tails better than the edge. I wonder if they are interchangeable

So in the last two days the MKX has done some weird things.
1) After sitting for a couple hours the Vista Roof magically vented itself and rolled down the two front windows all the way. Then the Vista Roof did not want to close. I had to drive it for awhile before it would close (it was about 38-degrees out).
2) The navigation screen was so dark no one could read it. The lights were not on and the brightness of the LCD was normal.
Several months ago I pressed the close button on the Vista Roof and it opened it further. I just blew it off as a temporary glitch. Has anyone else had weird issues like this?
Sounds like a computer malfunction. THere is one computer BCM, that control all that you are having issues with.
Go to the dealer now

I was kind of thinking about this topic and you know, neither my Acura, VW nor my chicks Mazda have lighted controls for the moonroof. I really cannot see this as an issue and suspect their is more than plenty of light to see by and that most vehicles likely do not have those controls lit up. heck, the light coming in from the BAMR alone would make enough light to see the buttons 1 would think - let alone stray light from the dash and what not.
I am adding some led that shine up. I have a friend with an Edge too and they said the exact same as me.
-
Our '07 had a drift/pull to the right. I was lucky to find the TBS post with the #. Turns out that was exactly the problem. The dealer ordered the part, installed it and aligned the car. It is fine and I hope it stays that way.
Other than that, 500 miles in and all is wonderful.
What was it?
thanks
