  1. Tiffany,

I wouldn't recomend you taking the taillights off and re seal it yourself, the vehicle is still under warranty and if they see you did it you will lose your warranty. I agree it is BS and this is the third dealership that we went to and that agreed that it is an issue and replaced them. Even with the new ones and the condensation is still there, so the dealership is waiting for Ford to give them a call back. I am going to call them next week and find out.

I would suggest you call ford and let them know what is going on, the more people that do it the greater chance they will get working on it and maybe have it as a recal, but hopefully a solution.

I will keep you posted of what they say next week. Have a good weekend!

    Pocoboy

Good Idea, Yes, When i get time, I will get a ford rep on this. My brother said, to tell them you have to replace your tail light bulbs often because of water. It will then become a saftey issue. AND TRUE, IF THE BULBS GET WET WHILE HOT, THEY WILL BLOW ANYWAY

I think that is what I will do..

  2. Hi there, I was able to download the picture of the taillight with the condensation in it. It is under pocoboy. Have you heard anything more about this? I haven't will keep you posted when I get anything.

That is just like mine. My dealer and another told me that they have to get worse for them to replace them.

BS...They have cleared up now, but the next good rain and car wash, I will be at their door.

Your is eactly like mine, in the same place

PS, I about 10 days, I will take them off and re-seal them and check the seals around the bulbs. I have an idea of why this is happening. I will keep you posted

  3. They snap on. To remove the old ones you have to grab from behind and both sides, putting most of the pressure on the side nearest the car. Feels like you're breaking them, but I thought, so what, I've got new ones. Paid $35 each at the local Lincoln Dealer. They came in just two days.

Hi. I like it. If I get the chome one, and look at the inside, will it show the locking tabs. can you post a picture of where they pop off at.

    thanks.

  4. Hand held devices are not designed into a vehicle and are not sold by the vehicle mfr, therefore it is unlikely that Garmin could be held liable for a vehicle accident. Auto mfrs, OTOH, are extremely vulnerable thanks to stupid juries that blame the big companies and require absolutely no personal responsibility.

Voice controls work fine. The only restriction is that you can't enter a new destination which requires typing the address, looking at a list, etc - not things you want to do while driving. You can choose a pre-entered destination.

I also have a now honda civic with navi, and it is full control by voice including number and street names, super

and you can do it by touch pad EVEN IF THE VEHICLE IS MOVING...COOL

  5. My Edge belt starts squealing anytime it rains. I don't think it is the serpentine belt, i think it is the other belt. I will get it looked at when i take it in for its first service. Right now, it has 4,700 miles on

I have my other half look at the belt yesterday. He said that he can't believe that there is no cover or rain deflector around the serpentine belt. He look underneath the car and said it is exposed to the elements under the car. Any rain or anything at all can get on the belt.

we have the same problem. They replaced the lights right away but guess what....the new ones are having the same problem. Now I phoned Ford and they said to go back to the dealership and let them look at them again. That is what we did, the shop manager commented that a lot of the lights have the same problem and he is waiting for Ford engineers to tell him what to do.. I'll keep you informed on what happens. If I can I will post pictures.

Going to the dealer today and telling them I want new ones.

  7. I have used the Nav and find it works perfectly..

Besides which of the 5 miilion POIs that you do not have, will you not use?

Do you need all of them? How many are truly valuable?

oh my.. what did we do without a NAV and POI directory? - Get out the CAA/AAA triptik and trip books.

well as a girl, I love to shop shop and shop..

I have a hand held garmin, and when I was driving around a new town saturday, my ford gps did not have one store, expept for the major malls in the area. but, it would be nice to find a StarbucK, TARGETS AND WAL-FARTS. PLEASE

  8. Well, tomorrow I'm going to pick up my new EDGE Limited AWD! Very excited.

I'm coming from a Mustang with a Pioneer AVIC-Z1 aftermarket installed Navi. I also had the XM radio with XM traffic reporting. This was a really great feature.

I know the Edge has Sirius, but it looks like Sirius also offers the traffic service. Does anyone know if I can add some hardware to my Edge Navi system that will allow it to receive the Sirius traffic data?

In SoCal, traffic data is very important!!

    Thanks,

    Tom

They may be able to add it by a software upgrade...this would be very nice to add..

I would like this also. but this is in limited areas too.

  9. did you make sure you have the latest Navteq DVD - will say 6p on it (printed right on DVD). You likely do if you have a 2008 - but I have seen a drawer full of them at the dealers and they often do not even know what they are grabbing as they reach in and you might have gotten an older DVD set than 6p?

update: you got me interested and I went searching on the POS facts for the 6p DVD and sure enough, only 1.57 million...

This DVD map update contains coverage across the continental United States and Canada as well as Alaska and Hawaii. It contains over 6.06 million miles of road and features more than 1.57 million updated points-of-interest including over:

    449,700 restaurants

    68,700 hotels

    103,800 banks

    108,000 ATMs

    90,800 gas stations

245,600 auto service & maintenance locations

    14,900 tourist attractions

    Yes, I have 6P

Thank you for findingt this info. Yes, look at the other auto makers and your will see FORD has the poorest of all for features too.

  10. First I am an engineer, and a electronics bug.

I have had a ton of GPS, every make and I have had them in all my cars since they have been out.

I currently have a 2008 Honda civic (8 Million POI's) and a 2008 Ford Edge, both have NAVI.

Most all OEM NAVI system sold with car have about 6-8 millions Points of Interest.

FORD IS THE ONLY ONE WITH A MEASLY 1.5 million...

I found this out today trying to find a target or Kmart store.

FORD I know Navteq sell you the data, WHY BE CHEAP...PLEASE PLEASE ADD MORE POI's. I would not mine paying a bit more.

THIS IS A MAJOR TURN OFF IN MY NEW EDGE...

  11. I didn't need any relay for mine. Works with autolamp and the perimeter lighting when you unlock the car at night. Two balasts, the harness' to each bulb, and the leads go directly into the factory bulb harness plug. The leads direct 12V power to the balasts as it would a light bulb, the balast turns on and directs the proper voltage to the HID bulb and on it comes... Easy as pie. .

I wouldn't bother with HID's for the hi-beams, no OEM manufacturer does and the lower reflector is optimized for throwing the halogen lighting up and out without regard for glare, so it's more then adequate. Only the 2008 Mustang uses factory 'bi-xenon' via a moveable reflector plate. Everyone else uses halogen high-beams. Wouldn't bother with the fogs either....

    hi

I have done a few HID kits with direct Plug N Play. I have read where you have to use a relay and seperate harness to the battery. WHY

I will say, I have never done this. I use quality kits like MTEC. If the ballast draw is only 35watts and stock halogen is 55watts, WHY USE A RELAY...

    ANYONE KNOW
