  1. I'd call customer service, had to w/my F350 more than once. If you get no where ask for the next person up, they'll pretend @ first there's no such person but there is. That tends to get some feathers roused. If you can't "click" on it they more than likely don't know how to open it so I don't think a letter would work.
  2. First off my experience lately with our Fords has been awful, so sorry in advance if my response sounds off key. I'd call customer service (just went this route on my F350 diesel). In your case dealer said bad APIM, screen fine warranty repair, Now screen is bad, obviously dealer screwed up screen (not necessarily, but I'd go that route). Then the fact that they have a bunch of problems with these. They should good will it as you're so close on warranty. Just don't roll over that's what they want you to do. It took 6 months for them to fix an uncontrollable death wobble on my truck (technician suggested letting it crash), finally they replaced the steering box as I suggested and the problem is resolved, after (3) $100 deductibles, you get one every time they open a new work order.
  3. We have a 2012 Edge LTD, Just did brakes and rotors all around. Just a couple of quick notes. For the rear, remove dampener by opening plastic cap and use a 30 Torx. Remove caliper and bracket. Remove Torx screw holding on rotor using # 40 bit. If you have the typical rust you can rotate the brake disc until the end of the screw is visible through the hub on the back side, use heat, big or small, spray PB blaster on both ends of the screw. Nobody's can be worse than ours, it came right off. Rotor may need a hammer on the back side and some heat on the face, ours didn't require much of either. The fronts are much worse. The rotor rusts onto the front hub. Be prepared with big heat and big hammer. Heating the face of the rotor between the studs and pounding the crap out of it from behind is required. I also used an air chisel trying to brake if free, don't think it made much difference. Once you commit your screwed!
  4. We finally got our issues resolved almost a year later. The first dealer that screwed it up (3 times) we never returned to. Because they initiated the repair ford warranty wouldn't pay for the reconfiguration that was required when they (the previous dealer) didn't properly finalize the programming. Luckily our "new" dealer only charged 1/2 hour labor (maybe the $3800 for 2 extended warranties had something to do with it). Ford really sucks here, this isn't the first time that they wouldn't pay for a repair when one of their "authorized" dealers messed something up. It happened at least twice if not three times with my 6.4 now with the edge.
  5. Thanks for the response. I'll let you know how it goes.
  6. Ahhhhh....."changes in the system"! Shortly after getting it back my wife tried to sync her phone to no avail. We figured it was us, or where we are, or something, we'll deal with it later. Now we don't use this tech crap much (CRAP!), not like those that ride around all day with "Tom Tom" stuck to their windshield or a phone glued to their ear. The other day we needed to make a 550 mile round trip to a place that all we had was the (GPS) address. Went out to the car to put it into the Nav and where it used to say "Navigation" it says "Information". I knew the screen had changed but never researched it, figured I would just "touch" information and it would bring up Nav and go from there, and @ the time of picking up the car the technician (22 years old, fact) assured us he checked everything and reset it as it was originally . Well.....after a few minutes it was obvious we no longer have Nav. Made the trip using the old fashion method (your brain) and called the dealer the next day. After 3 times getting his (service writer) voice mail I finally reached him. No Clue! Never heard of it, I'll look into it and call you back. Which he did, 5 hours later. The answer; No Clue! we'll have to have the car here. "Here's what we'll do", We have a salesman that lives in your area and he'll pick it up and bring it back when (IF) we figure it out. Yeah right! were going to let someone we don't know drive off with our $38k vehicle with no plan (time wise) of when to return it! This vehicle has been a CONSTANT electrical/technical frustration! If anyone has had this or has an idea let me know, so we can "tell" the dealer how to fix it to try to avoid 3 more (useless) trips!
  7. If the dealership replaced the battery they should have prorated it (partial credit). I'm pretty sure those batteries have @ least a 60 month if not 72 month warranty.
  8. It appears to be working fine, we really don't use the vehicle much. I did notice changes in the system since the replacement.
  9. If you're having an issue I'm afraid a trip (OK many trips) to your local (hopefully) Ford garage is in store .
  10. Well our screen is back (module and APIM supposedly). All I can say is I put 2 vertical finger smears on the left side of the screen before it went into the shop when messing around with it trying to get it to work and they are still there. I asked if the entire unit was replaced and was told yes. The state inspection cost $128, they turned all 4 rotors and charged us for front pads. The slides seized and wiped out the pads. Rotors still look like crap. They say the charging system is normal. That's all for now.
  11. It should increase out put w/RPM not decrease. Also I don't think "smart charging" means if you hit it (the alternator) with a Brass hammer it smartens up and and starts working normal . Seriously though, this is the same symptoms as before which eventually ended up with it frying the alternator and burning the pigtail. And, the brass hammer actually would make the internal regulator temporarily start working before, this time didn't have to resort to this as it was going into the shop anyways.
  12. The Edge is back at the shop for its scheduled repairs. A recurring issue with the Alternator has popped up. I run w/a Passport Radar detector set for voltage readout, it's running in the range of 11.6 to 12.6 volts and is constantly fluctuating. Since they replaced the alternator after complete failure and plug burn out (10k miles) it has been 13.6+- constant, right up until yesterday. Funny thing is on the gas voltage goes down, off of the gas it goes up, same as before. Put the detector back in my 6.4 diesel for the ride home and it read 13.7 volts for the 1 1/2 hour ride home. This thing has electrical problems that I don't believe the shop has the ability to find.
  13. Thanks for the support. It's really a shame that I had to call the dealerships service department where we used to live and search here to arm myself with enough information to have them make the repairs without keeping our vehicle there for weeks as some of the other horror stories have implied. We're usually very loyal to the dealerships that we deal with, but this is the second one that hasn't seem to want to "cover" something that is clearly a warranty issue. The real kicker for me is I grew up in a family owned AMC dealership (40 years) then continued to work in the auto industry for another 10+ years, then was in the marine/powersports business as a service manager than as an owner for 13 years. I know how important repeat customers are, don't they?
  14. Just got back from another unsuccessful visit. 2 1/2 hours and supposedly the installation of the new APIM wiped something else out "Collateral damage" they said. Failed state inspection (27k miles) because the rotors are so bad, rears have all ready been changed once. At least now they may warranty it a second time, before they sais NO! And they can't find the mysterious green/yellow fluid leak (Not antifreeze, that's redish). The leak starts @ the front and leaves a drip trail the full length, I think R134A dye but they still haven't figured it out. Going back a 3rd time next week for all of the same issues, this time we have to drop it and leave it. I'll have $250 into fuel by the end of that visit with having to use a chase vehicle! Not finding Ford Quality to be "JOB ONE"
  15. Thanks for the support. I don't know why it is but it seems w/o the info I find on these forums (F350 Super Duty w/ 6.4 Powerstroke also) I have zero luck getting my Fords fixed.
