  1. We are just starting our third week with our MKX and we too tested the CX-9.The third row seats are only a plus if you are actually going to use them-and then only for kids or friends you are trying to punish. The manual shift capability is nice too but again how often are you using it, will it be cool for the first while and then you never use it? I would say that the ride is similar, after all it is the same basic chassis and engine. But according to Consumer Reports the reliability has been better in the Edge/MKX than in the CX-9.As far as price goes I found the CX-9 to be much higher than the Edge even when they are similarly equipped, and I didn't see any jump in interior quality to justify it(unless you have to have a import). I'm sure you will be happy with either but I would lean towards the Edge. Good luck.
  2. Sorry to here about your experience with that dealer.Try not to blame Ford though-that dealer seems like a knob to me. We picked up our 07 MKX just a couple of weeks ago and not only did we get the second key but I got them to throw in the trailer tow, winter floor mats and wireless headphones for the dvd player. The experience with Universal Ford here in Calgary, Alberta was fantastic and we love our MKX. :shades: I hope this works out for you,and enjoy your new Edge!
  3. I just picked up the new Consumer Reports Cars edition magazine. They say that the customer satisfaction is well above average for the Edge-82%.The Edge also has well above average reliability in 14 out of 17 catagories and was above average in 2.Only the audio system rated as average reliability. The MKX had above average customer satisfaction and had well above average reliability in 15 of 17 catagories. They say that both models have above average reliability for a used 07 and predict the same for the 08s.It adds amunition in the arguments with all those Ford-Lincoln haters out there(that means you Chevy guy). While you are having that argument you can let that GM guy know that 2 Cadillacs and 5 Chevy/GMC/Hummers made the least reliable list. Take that GM!
  4. I don't know what everyones mileage is but the owners manual does say that we have a learning transmission-it takes awhile to figure out how you shift so it might shift hard or soft until it figures it out.
  5. I used to think that leasing was the way to go(since I changed vehicles every couple years anyway),but my experience was not so good.Back in 99 I leased a Pontiac and everything seemed perfect. No money down,0.9 interest it was great, until I hit 16000km and had to have it at the dealer to replace every gasket in the engine.Of course this couldn't have been done at once, I had to take it back for 3 straight weeks. When I asked if I could just buy another car,any car they said not unless I paid out the full lease(3 years). So I spent 3 years trapped in a vehicle that was a bit of a lemon. If I could write it off on my taxes I would lease again, but until then I will own.You can also save alot by buying it even 1 year old.I picked up my 07 MKX for 12 or 13 thousand less than a 08 would have cost me.
  6. And here I was wishing that my MKX had the chrome wheels instead of the aluminum.I guess it's true to be careful what you wish for.You would think that a company that has been around for 100 years could figure out how to make a chrome wheel that is as good a some small wheel company.Hopefully your dealer doesn't give you any grief.Good luck
  7. We have just gone through the first tank of gas on our MKX so I can't really give a proper review on the milage. You know - new vehicle/heavy foot.As far as the interior surfaces-there has to be a upgrade in the Lincoln, if you gave the Edge the same interior as the Lincoln how much nicer could you make the Lincoln and not price in out of range. The MKX has the side dimming mirror and we haven't noticed it too much yet,and it came standard with the cargo management system and I don't see why they wouldn't make it standard on the Edge.I just can't believe they would soak someone $200 for it.I also originally thought that the turnsignals on the mirror should be there. If they can put this on a Mazda you know that they damn well could put it on a Ford.
  8. I saw a set of MKX 20s with new rubber on ebay for $1500 yesterday
  9. Congratulations,I'm sure you do ok without the navigation if you can master that tricky reading a map thing.lol
  10. My wife and I found a 07 MKX with only 20000km and it was too good to pass up.It's pewter with the black interior , AWD and it came with the dvd as well.We could'nt be happier with the vehicle and I was quite happy to see that this forum was here.It will be nice to talk with other owners and get some tips.I already saw the tuner programmer and it looks pretty good.Has anyone confirmed the rear wheel horsepower gains?
