  1. Thanks for posting the TSB. I bought a 2011 Edge Limited a couple of weeks ago. It drove great for the first week and then over the last 4-5 days, I've noticed the transmission issues described above. With my vehicle, it happense when I am stopped and then begin to accelerate. When it first happened, there was no jerk but it just felt like it was slipping out of gear when accelerating at about 5-10 miles an hour. Then the the issues got worse over the weekend. It now has that slipping out of gear feel but also a big jerk/kick as it accelerates. I would say it now happens about 40% of the time when accelerating from a stop. Even worse, two days ago as well as yesterday, the transmission got stuck in first gear. The first time, I was turning on a 45 miles per hour highway where I needed to pick up speed fairly quickly when I experienced a problem in which my vehicle was stuck in first gear. I pulled over as quickly as I could, tried some things but nothing would get it out of first gear except turning the car off and restarting it. I would say my transmission is having a few issues. I took my vehicle in for service this morning. I will be irate if they come back and tell me they couldn't replicate the issue. All one would have to do is go out for a 5-10 minute drive and you would definitely experience the issue at least once if not more. Getting stuck in first gear has only happened twice so that probably won't be replicated by service. Fortunately my Edge is still under the 5yr/60K powertrain warranty. I took the TSB in with me but who knows. I found out that the date of my vehicle build was March fo 2011.
  2. I just bought a used 2011 Ford Edge a couple of weeks ago. I was looking into an ESP but found them to be too expensive to justify. I called Ford directly and for a 4 year/100,000 premium ESP, they quoted something like $2,440. After reading this thread, I looked into Flood Ford and Anderson and Koch. They offer the same exact plan but for $980! That, I can justify. However, they wouldn't sign me up because even though I am only 2 1/2 years into the warranty, my mileage is at 37,000. Ford told me that they would offer me the new car pricing and allow me to sign up since I just came off warranty but Flood Ford and Anderson and Koch said they would not. That's really too bad, because for $980 ($100 deductible), that's a no-brainer for me. I guess I'm on my own.
