  1. It would be nice to be able to install navigation into the MFT. It seems that Ford has not made this MFT upgradeable. based on some of the previous information. I guess I will just keep using my Garmin.

The guys are correct. I have same day turn around. You can either send me your APIM and I will upgrade it or if I have the correct APIM on hand I can send you a direct replacement.

I don't take it apart....I program it to match your vehicle and add OEM navigation.

  2. Despite the fact that you're spending a lot of money for PImods to get your navigation, you're still not buying the software license which means it is illegal. Not much chance anything would ever come of it, but you should be aware.

I'm also very curious how he gets the cluster to change to "directions" since the cluster software is completely independent of the APIM. I've actually had navigation added the "official" way and the cluster always needs to be programmed separately.

As far as the license goes all NAV units use the same license, isnt that weird?

The cluster changes to directions during a route just as if using turn by turn. To do true nav cluster that has to be updated as well but obviously can't do that with just an APIM replacement.

  3. I know this is old but I now have a setup available to me that I can basically trick my setup into thinking it is any ford vehicle and seeing what options are available in IDS for a vehicle without actually being hooked up to it.

That's too bad, on my 2013 escape I was able to do some changes to the bcm and enable global open using a software called focccus and a OBDII scanner.

All you did was something that could have been done with factory IDS software or if someone broke down the coding which is what they did with that software. The software within the BCM would need to be reprogrammed to allow what you want to do. For instance on my 13 Taurus I enabled the global close (it already has open) setting in the cluster because the software in the cluster already supports it. IDS also has a setting for global close for the BCM to be turned on or off. I turned it on....guess what it doesn't work because the Taurus software in the BCM doesn't support it even though it is enabled.

If a vehicle line has an option in the upper end models and not in the lower end chances are the software in the lower end supports it just needs to be turned on. The AWD gauge on the Taurus is something that comes to mind as one of those things that can be enabled that the software supports but Ford decided to leave out of the cluster. Of course this is for items that don't need additional hardware.

  5. Ford does not have the BCM programmed capable of using the LED strips as DRL that I am aware of. There are only 3 choices that I know of: DRL off, DRL Low Beam and DRL Turn Signals.

On my 13 Taurus I even played with the values internally and while it did accept a 4th setting, that setting did nothing.

  6. I am doing some research on another Ford model and once saw a setting within IDS (Ford Diagnositcs/Programming software) on a 2013 Edge that I would like to investigate further. I am in need of an IDS session from preferably a 2013 Edge (I will take any model, base, limited, etc) or even a 2014. You can save sessions and email them.

    Thanks

    Jason
