  1. :happy feet: CX-7. :happy feet: That's what we'll get 60 days later.
  2. It's said if you use regular gas on cx-7 you'll lose about 40HP and it'll behave like a minivan. And in my wife's opinion , the interior of Edge looks like hard cheap plastic piled together, no refinement.
  3. Where did you get your MSRP? I got it from mazda.ca build and price, I choose Crystal White Pearl, AWD GT with Luxury package plus cargo cover, MSRP is 38,638.10 but purchase total is 45,231.75 MSRP:38,638.10 Freight&PDE:1,390.00 PST:3,202.25 GST:2,001.41 Total:45,231.75 As I remembered, Limited Edge has Bose too, and power lift gate, sync
  4. After I test drove CX-7, this impression becomes more clear. The cx-7 only goes to about 3000rpm. But then I checked with both specs, for sure Mazda has an amazing engine, the max torque output is generated at 2500rpm, it doesn't need to go higher for max torque while accelerating, especially start from 0, it's running at low rpm and needs more torque. On the contrary, the new VVT3.5(used in Edge, MKX and 07 CX-9) or VVT3.7(08 CX-9) has different figure, it needs much more rpm to reach max torque, I guess that's part of reason why Mazda want to use this turbo inline 4 instead of v6 (of course the turbo 4 is lighter).
  5. Driving: CX-7 : Faster acceleration, lower engine rpm, better engine sound, more responsible steering, harder suspension than edge, about the same brake feeling (didn't test 100-0 emergency brake) as edge, maybe Ford improved the brake. Had fun, but is not as much as Mazda3. Buzzed by the turbo lag. If I step harder, the delay is more obvious, then all of sudden it seems want to jump out and out of control when I was turning which is dangerous. It's not feel like driving a big vehicle, I can tell from the feeling of width, seating hight, and the acceleration of the cx-7, more like a car, but the behavior is different than a car. I can recall when I just start driving the edge, I felt like the lane is not wide enough and in up hill it's harder to gain more speed, but I didn't have the feeling in cx-7 at all. But my son like the feeling at higher seating position and in a bigger vehicle. Easier to do a U turn than edge, but experienced turbo lag again. I guess if I drive a lot then I'll get used to it, it just doesn't feel good at present. Only feels LIKE a sports car, but doesn't have sporty feeling. Blind point: CX-7 : Not as somebody described "it's a whole blind point", actually I feel safe when I checked the blind points, no matter highway or city drive, only need one glance. And I can clearly see the nose, not a problem on parking at all. Roomy: CX-7 : About the same head room in driver's seat, but less leg room than Edge. Back seat is smaller, lower (because the driver's seat is lower) and less leg room. Rear cargo about the same, but more regular shape, easier to load more stuff. because of the design (no recline back seat), it has an cargo cover option - edge has the same option, but it shows "N/A" in Canadian web site Interior: CX-7 feels like use better material, the plastic is softer, same as other Japenese car, better at refinement, make edge more like hard plastic put together, the joint, the corner and the edge shows the level closer to luxury. Comfort: The seat, CX-7 feel hard while Edge feel solid. The difference is when I sit there, the seat in edge is more like holding me and the cx-7 is more like against me. Dashboard: Different design, because I'm familiar with Mazda, there's almost no difference between Mazda3 and CX-7 (the one without nav) but I like both. Operation: In the way to operate, I like Mazda more. The small things like power window, wiper, lights, etc, Mazda is better. I like to see current shift in dashboard like Mazda, I like to use manumatic like Mazda, but they're minor to me. Configuration and Cost (In canadian dollar): Edge: AWD Limited White sand with side rail and remote starter - without BAMR, NAV - financing 60months $725/month $0 down CX-7: AWD GT White + Luxury Package - include moonroof, without NAV - financing 60months $700/month $0 down Today's gas price : regular(87) 1.033, premium (91) 1.153 10,000km/year the gas price difference will be 0.15*100*13.1=196.5=$16/month Insurance premium is about the same, maximum $1 difference per month I didn't ask about the maintainess expense, but edge offer me free oil change for 3 years. Hard to make selection.
  6. I test-drove one tonight, at that time engine was about 4000-4500 rpm and my acceleration isn't that good, my mazda 3 has 2.0 engine, but much lower rpm and better acceleration. And in highway, it's not quiet at all, I can hear the tire noise and engine noise is a little bit too high, but steering is solid, but doesn't like a performance car. Traction control works. I just too concern about the engine rpm, it's too high for me, maybe that's way the millage isn't good. What about your edge?
  7. Thread link : http://www.mcx7.com/showthread.php?t=2786 I'd like to ask the same question here: It's narrowed down to this two crossover, they're within my budget, powerful, positive feedbacks, handsome looking, enough room for family of four, comfort (cx-7 maybe not) and quiet (cx-7 maybe not). I don't know how much do I care of fun to drive, but I'm driving mazda3 now, I haven't test driven either one, just from my research from internet, the ford edge is little better than cx-7 because: - more comfort - more quiet - V6 - Sync but cx-7 get its' own score at - fun to drive (how fun?) - cheaper - bigger glove box (and has a light) - bigger driver's space But the fact is, I saw much more CX-7 than ford edge on the road. Did I miss something or make something wrong? I will test drive both within this month, but before that I need more advice. Thanks. ========================================================= Some feedback from cx-7 forum: What's your opinion on Edge vs CX-7?
  8. I went to my nearest ford dealer (Whiteoak Ford Lincoln Sales), they said except 0% financing there is no incentives in March, but there might be some in April. Plus they only give me 4.4% discount ( I want to choose a 08 limited with no options or replace clad rims with the aluminum one, the window sticker price is 40,444, they only give me 38,652, plus 299 administration fee, 199 anti-stolen and 200 some other fee, totally added up was 39,350 ). I don't think that is a good deal at all! Even I love to drive an Edge, but if that's the only deal I can make, I'd rather go with Mazda, they give me a very good price on 08 CX-7 GT (Wife's pick), my monthly payment is only $700 for 6 years (after tax). It would be grateful if somebody can recommend some better dealer around my area. I still like Edge a little bit more.
  9. I also think that way, so I went ahead with edge dealer and turned out they give me only 4.5 percent discount, I'm sure there are some much better deal here somewhere (I live in toronto) wish somebody can recommend one for me. There is another one attracted me as well, the cx-7, I haven't test drove yet, but it is said the cx-7 is a little bit noisyer than edge. I will find out later on.
  10. I know mostly it's not comparable, but they're within the same price range (with the options I chose), same power, but different size. If I only have this much money which one should I buy? - Edge SEL without any option - Fully load VUE Red line by the way, I have two boys, 9 and 2, I'm going to replace my Mazda3, the vehicle is just for family of four and it will be the only one.
