I put our 2011 Edge AWD on 10 inch ramps today and drained only about 6 ounces of PTU fluid. I used a good vacuum device, and was as far down into the PTU housing as possible.
The fluid was black and almost sticky. The magnetic fill plug had a small amount of filings on it. THe Eddge has 42K miles, and we bought it used. I refilled the PTU with 90-140W Royal purple and added Lubegard Gear additive to the Royal purple as well. I filled it to where it dribbled out slightly from the fill hole. It used about 8 onces of fluid. I am aware that the vehicle was not level, but I know I added more than what came out. I do not believe the car being on 10 inch ramps makes that much difference.
Well worth your time changing the fluid out every 4oK miles or possibly less than paying 2K dollars for another PTU unit prematurely...cheers
Odd that only 6 ounces of fluid came out. I have worked on cars for quite a few years off and on,,,
