  1. Great...guess I'd rather replace it than get stranded. I think I'll just get a new one. I'm at 35,900 miles -- I should call the dealership and see if this battery is 12/12 or 3/36.
  2. So when I turn my edge off now, it says that the Battery Saver System is on and that I need to turn my ignition off or remove the key. It's been like this for about 2-3 weeks now. Seems to me like something Ford might enable when it senses your battery is low -- but the battery light never turns on on the vehicle.
  3. So far I probably have about 1.8k miles on them. I don't really notice a difference to be honest. My daily drive includes a few big mountain climbs -- but my gas mileage throughout all of this has always stabilized at 22.3 MPG both before and after the tires. I do feel like the vehicle tends to want to either A) drift toward the right or follow the slant of the road more. I can't really tell which one it is. If I'm on a roadway where the slant is to the left, I need to keep the wheel a bit more to the right. And if I'm on a roadway where the slant is to the right (which is like 90% of all right lanes in highways), I have to keep it to the left a tiny bit (maybe half an inch). Other than that, there have been no noticeable differences.
  4. I decided to start a new thread for the new tires: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/18980-pirelli-scorpion-verde-all-season-plus/ I will be checking to see if sales are allowed on the forum. Literally two of these Michelins are like brand new -- the bad one I had them dispose of at the tire shop, and another, I found another nail while inspecting them before putting them into storage. It would be nice to be able to help someone out who needs just one or two tires, so we shall see.
  5. So if you were following along in my other thread, I replaced my factory Michelins with four Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus tires due to an unrepairable nail in the left rear tire -- the Michelins had 31k miles on them but they still look new. The replacements were 245/60/18 105H. Initial impressions are that they feel the same on the road as the stock Michelins. Road noise seems about the same (non existent). Essentially, I can't tell that there are new tires on there when driving. The one difference I did notice is that while unloading the Pirelli's, the sidewalls felt VERY stiff and solid, as if taking a turn would be easier on the tire. I didn't realize that until I loaded the three Michelins back into the back after they were off the rims. The sidewalls on the Michelins feel very flimsy in comparison (possibly because the Michelins have been driven on?). I only drove around town though, so after I take it on the highway tomorrow, I will report back. Here is a picture of the tire: I like how there are some solid rubber sections that go around the circumference of the entire tire. To me, it seems like this will allow for increased tracking or directional stability on the highway and possibly give it a little more sturdiness on entry and exit ramps. There are exactly three of those solid rubber sections that go all the way around the tire. One directly inside of the outer tread lugs, and two more between the next to sets of lugs. Maybe the center one helps with rain evacuation? It's important to note that the tires need to be mounted with a certain side of the tire facing out. It's denoted in a few languages (the last bit of text saying "OUTER" in English) on the sidewall in rather small text, so it would be easy to miss. Luckily the tire guys at the local shop knew what they were doing because I didn't notice that until I was verifying my tire pressure after I got home. And here is the image zoomed in so you can see the solid rubber.
  6. UPDATE: So for the last 2 weeks, every 3 days the same tire was losing air. Finally today, I got under there and put some soap on where the plug is and sure enough, it's started to leak again. I tried to mess with the plug a little bit to kind of 'jam it in the hole' and when that didn't work I tried to just pull on the plug a little bit to maybe seal it up a bit better. That didn't work either. So I ordered 4x Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus after careful consideration from Tirerack. As soon as they arrive, I will go get them mounted and balanced and I'll update the thread again to note any initial differences I notice between those and the Michelins.
  7. Just curious if anyone has had this issue or knows if there is a TSB or anything. The light comes on as if it's working, but the sound doesn't change...and if I changed it to avoid a stinky truck or something, I can tell it's definitely still pulling air in from the outside. The last thing I want to do is drop this thing off at a dealership and them spend 8 hours ripping the dashboard apart just to tell me some part is 2 weeks away and I have to leave it. Thanks. 2014 Edge SEL with dual climate and auto button, etc
  8. Yeah it looks like the battery did reach a full charge. I just figured there was some 45 minute timeout, but after calling Traxxas, they informed me that the light only turns green for 4 minutes and then shuts off when charging is done...which is not in the manual. Thanks for the help. @candirun -- I actually wish mine did, then I wouldn't have to remember to turn my GPS off every time I get out of my edge. In my old Focus (and in my wife's current Focus), it would/does turn off automatically after about 10 minutes, then apparently the power point would get power back when you hit the unlock button on the key fob -- which was a really nice design.
  9. I have a 2014 SEL Does the REAR power outlet turn off after x amount of inactivity? I am trying to charge an RC battery with it, and after about 45 minutes, the amber light turned OFF. I know for sure the front power outlet will stay on all the time.
  10. Seems like it's holding up just fine. It is on the rear and it is already on the inside of that tire. I don't plan on rotating them since I'll get the Goodyear Assurance Tripletred's long before these are worn out.
  11. Well, my preferred shop said he'd try to patch it -- but something inside tells me that the process of removing rubber from the inside of the tire then gluing a rubber patch would compromise the structural integrity of the tire more than a plug would. I was also concerned about the rubber of the patch coming loose because that part of the tire flexes a lot. The Michelin dealer said he wouldn't touch that. The Michelin dealer also said it would take a day to get a new tire and it was $260 installed for it. -- So I bought some plugs and a kit from Advance Auto for about $14. I found an abandoned truck yard, backed up to the top of a loading dock and reamed it a little and put the plug in. It's holding so far. Honestly, I had to drive around the parking lot 3 times just to get it lined up to where I was backing up. Then, when I pulled the nail out with side cutters, the air was just spewing out at what seemed like a rapid pace. So I quickly tried to get the reamer tool in the hole to slow the air loss down -- and it wouldn't go in. So I pushed with all my might and it still wouldn't go in. Then I envisioned myself getting the jack out of the back and having to change my tire in this awkward spot I was in, and some superhuman strength came over myself and I was able to ream the hole out and shove the plug in. Once the plug was in, I twisted the tool one full turn, and pulled the tool out pretty slowly. I went to the gas station to put air in it and it only went from 35 PSI (I had to fill it up on the way home again today) to about 32 PSI, so not a whole lot of air came out. I figured it would be around 10 psi by how much hissing there was. -- I drive 70 miles per hour, 150+ miles a day. But it's held up just fine with the nail in there, so I figure a plug would be better than the nail. -- I think I'm going to run like this until before winter and pick up four Goodyear Assurance TripleTred (the directional tires) and also get the road hazard warranty. At least I'll save money by not having to rotate my tires, knowing that I'll be replacing them before they wear out. That's a shame because those Michelins are good tires. I really wish the Edge came with a full size spare wheel and tire for peace of mind.
  12. So last Sunday, my TPMS light came on, and the left rear tire was 5 psi low. This Sunday, my TPMS light came on, and the left rear tire was, again, 5 psi low. Does it look like it is repairable? Does it look like, if it is not, I will need to buy 4 new tires, or just one, based on how much tread is left? The tires have 14,100 miles on them. Please advise. Here are the pictures (first one of the nail, second of the tire size/name in case I need to look up a price) Edit to add: I will be driving nearly 40,000 miles in a year's time -- mostly highway, sometimes through snow...I do not want to take ***a big*** chance that something would go wrong. But I do not want to unecessarilly spend money either. --
  13. Just traded in a 2013 Focus SE Hatch on a 2014 SEL AWD yesterday. Haven't had a chance to do a whole lot with it yet, but going to activate the free trial of SIRIUS tomorrow (I think I need to call the number because I can't run to the car quick enough to get the refresh signal). It's White Platinum. Heated Mirrors. Backup Sensors. And all the other standard stuff. Bought it with about 14k miles on it, so it's like new. The best part is now my son has his own vents in the back. I also enjoy just setting the climate control to 70 and Auto -- and the vehicle handles the rest. Oh...and the Sport mode (I'm used to driving a stick, but they're hard to come by now days).
