  1. Oil change and new rear brakes.

    Hard to start

Decided to check out the owners manual...I know, shame on me... Starting the engine 1. Turn the key to 3 (on) without turning the key to 4 (start) 2. Turn the key to 4 (start), then release the key as soon as the engine begins cranking. Your vehicle has a computer assisted cranking system that assists in starting the engine. After releasing the key from 4 (start) position, the engine may continue cranking for up to 10 seconds or until vehicle starts. So, according to the manual cranking up to 10 seconds is acceptable? As I mentioned before, mine seems to start ok if I hold the key in the 4 (start) position until it starts. It is when I release the key, as in #2 above and let the CACS do the work that it acts up. I would not think it is the fuel pump...vehicle runs ok once started. Maybe all of the fuel drains back into the tank and have to wait until it is pump back up to the engine?

    Hard to start

Should there any difference in starting the motor using the CACS or turning and holding the key until the motor starts? I have always used the CACS and lately the motor acts like it is flooding or missing when starting. Once it starts everything runs fine. It seems to start fine when I turn and hold the key until the motor starts.

Have a 2012 3.5 that at times is hard to start. Before I go into detail though, what do you call the feature where you can turn the key, release it and it will continue to start?

    Map update

True...they want $150 for an upgrade to my 2017 Ram....which I have not done.
  6. I use Hercules tires (ST) on my RV, so I have heard of them. But never looked into their auto type tires. Have had good luck with the ST tires, so thought I would give them a try...70k warranty, 600 AA, $150 a tire. https://www.herculestire.com/tire-details/Hercules/Cross-V-Terra-Trac

    National tires

Decided to pass on the Nationals. Ended up with a set of Hercules Terra Trac Cross-V. On the short ride home, it was a lot smoother, quieter.
  8. Still had the original Michelin tires on my 2012...81,600 miles. Decided it was time for some new rubber. Ended up getting a set of Hercules Terra Trac Cross-V. On the short ride home, it was a lot smoother, quieter.

Anyone heard of these? From my research they are made by Cooper tires. Looking at the Commando HST tires. Thanks...

    Map update

It has been a few years since I started this thread... 😉 Update...Received the other day another letter from Ford for the $149.00 upgrade...still free shipping. I remembered our discussion here about getting the updates on ebay, decided to check it out further. I saw where they were selling A10, I was still on A5...decided to make the jump to A10. One of the vendors mentioned that for A10, you will need the latest Sync software version. So, started the research into what was needed for that. Went to the Ford support website and found there was an upgrade for my 2012. Downloaded that and upgraded to the latest version. Prices have really gone down. Purchased the A10 for $21.00. Was $26, but the vendor had a $5.00 off coupon. Arrived in the mail yesterday. Installed the SD, started the Edge up and so far seems to work. If I go into the Sync settings, it does show A10.

    Map update

LOL...I assume they worked ok? Like everything else...looks like they have gone up in price. $60 (buy now) was the cheapest...plus $2.50 for shipping. $65 with free shipping was next. i presently have the A5. I would assume the A7 would be a significant upgrade? Thanks...
  12. Received a letter from Ford saying that a map update is available for only $149.00. But wait, the offer includes free shipping! Really, that is the only way to get GPS map updates?
  13. Thanks...My 2012 is a CPO that I bought last year. I do believe it is past the warranty as a CPO, but will call the dealer and see what they say.
  14. After doing some research it looks like it is the HVAC Blend door/actuator acting up.
  15. Looks like the dual control is acting up on my 2012. With the A/C running get cold air out the driver side vents, but hot air out the pass vents. I checked all the controls, dual is off, temp set to LOW, etc etc...but hot air coming out the passenger vents. Any thoughts before heading to my mechanic? Thanks,
