  1. Here's the end result. The X42755 rims will not work with P245/65/R17 tires. The rims are too narrow. Have gone with P235/65/R17 tires with these rims. Doug
  2. Thanks for all of the replies. I have no problem sizing the tire. All of the web sites provide lots of guidance on comparing one tire size to another. It is the rim size that is causing me some grief. I have found nothing on rim sizes and fitment. Costco, in spite of knowing their stuff, provided conflicting guidance on matching 245/65/R17 tires on X42755 rims. One tech said its okay, the other tech said the rim width is too small but did not offer an alternative. I have not been able to find any web site reference that discusses rim sizes and their compatibility with various tire sizes. Virtually every rim I have bought for winter tires starts with an "X" from generic rim manufacturers. Costco quotes these numbers, as well as Canadian Tire, but the web for some reason has no available information on tire compatibility, which is quite strange in this day and age. From what I have read and what I heard in the responses, the TPMS will remain lit for the whole time I have winter tires installed (if they have no sensors fitted). I am ok with that. I was more concerned about the dealership's claim that it is illegeal to fit tires without TPMS. I have assumed that this is no more than a scare tactic on behalf of the dealership. Thanks for the feedback. Doug
  3. Am having some difficulty getting the goods on what winter tires to put on my Ford Edge. I currently have 245/60/R18 all-season tires on the car. My initial conversation with Costco indicated that I can put on 245/65/R17 winter tires on the car with winter rims X42755. In another conversation with Costco (someone different) indicated that the rims are not wide enough to accept the 245/65/R17 tires. Where can I find the dimensions of the both the tires and rims so that I can find out what's going on? Is there a web site that describes rim sizes? Have found a lot of tire sites, but the rims seem to be a bit of a mystery, particularly the generic part numbers used like X42755. Nothing seems to come up when searching the web. Does anyone know the bolt hole pattern size for the Edge as well? I had heard or read somewhere that it is 5x114.3. True? Our Ford dealership also indicated that it is illegal to mount winter tires without a tire pressure monitoring system. I found this to be strange, because none of the independent tire dealerships ever mentioned having to install tire pressure monitoring sensors as a mandatory requirement. Any help appreciated. Doug
  4. Has anyone installed the Window Wind Deflectors as an add-on accessory? If so, how are they secured? It looks like some form of double-sided tape is used to secure the deflectors. It appears they mount directly on the painted portion of the window frame? Any chance the tape will damege the paint job? Thanks. Doug
  5. Are there any other manufacturers besides WeatherTech that offer fitted rubber floor and cargo mats for Ford Edges? Thanks. Doug
  6. Picked it up on Tuesday and the wife is pleased to say the least. SYNC is all hooked up to her phone and the garage door openers programmed! Looks great!
  7. Wife and I just purchased a 2008 burnt copper EDGE Limited. Will pick it up on Tuesday. Wife is over the top with this car. Is incredibly smooth. Look forward to a long relationship with this vehicle. Doug
