  1. My 2008 Egde antenna (the one mounted on the roof next to the vista view sunroof), broke off at the connection. Do I need to replace the whole magilla, or is there a quick fix, part number, etc?
  2. OK. I guess the wife had a senior moment when she put the rear mats in, and I followed suit. The rear mats DO fit fine....just needed to switch positions. :shades: Unfortunately, though, the camel flooring that is exposed (entry to rear area, left foot rest for driver, hump in the rear, seems to get dirtier than anything we've ever owned from Ford. We're not in a particulary muddy or dirty area. Even our dealer said that he was upset about how quickly the carpeting gets dirty as well. Interesting on the White Sand color... we believe it looks better than the creme, and we keep getting stopped by people interested in our vehicle, even drivers of the Lexus and Beemers. Rusty
  3. Same thing happened to my '03 Expy. First noticed that the seat and A/C moved and turned on without any key in ignition. Possessed! Then my engine could not be turned off with key out. Needless to say, after much investigation, turns out that the wiring harness inside the vehicle terminated to power instead of ground. The dealer pulled everything out of the vehicle...seats, carpet, roof liner, you name it. They did their best trying to put it back together. Fortunately it failed in front of them, but we found that the harness near the left passenger rear area was the culprit. All under warranty, but I should've lemoned it due to the length of time to repair....over 1 month! Rusty
  4. The 2" fish eyes work the best, since the 3" takes up a good amount of regular mirror space. I've been using fisheyes for over 30 years on all my vehicles, and they have saved me many times. However, you may notice that your rearview mirror defogger does not 'defog' the fisheye due to the insulation of the sticky pad. Contrary to the instructions on the fisheye, I always place it on the upper left side (driver's side) of the mirror (upper right side of the passenger). This enables a clear vision of the two lanes, blind spots, and other areas in case of backing up, including the white parking lines in a parking lot. Rusty
  5. I figured I'd add to this thread since I'm a newbie and don't want to get yelled at.... I'm a sound engineer and feel that the noise gate on the mic for the phone in the mirror is not properly set. When someone is talking to me from the Edge (I'm the other caller), I hear a low tone (disturbing) intermittent in the background. This is in addition to the shhhhhh of the road noise of the freeways. It doesn't matter if it's asphalt or cement, it still sounds the same. The mic in the mirror is probably a hypercardiod to eliminate the noise from the mirror, but a passenger needs to speak up to be heard since the mirror faces the driver. Does anyone know if there is a way to set the sensitivity of the noise gate to eliminate this tonal noise? Are there modifications available through the factory or a phone number I can call to Ford for this problem? Thanks Rusty
  6. Time to get a new digital camera. No pix yet. These were purchased through the dealer parts department as an accessory, and were not part of our vehicle's package. The word "Edge" is imprinted on the outer edge of the front floor mats perpendicular to your feet (Isn't there a grammar rule about using a word twice in the same sentence?). I believe you can see a copy of the pix in the accessories catalogue online (sorry for no link). The rear floor mats DO NOT match the original factory mats which leads me to believe that they may have ordered the wrong year mats? I plan to go to the parts department next week to ask and use the mats for comparison. The actual color is black and perfectly matches the stitching in the leather, the steering wheel, and all other black colors in my camel interior. The camel color picks up dirt so much that the left foot rest area on the driver's side is already dirty. I wonder if spraying with scotchguard would help?
  7. The headrest/restraint system is horrible. My head is pushed so far forward that it kinda chokes my neck and is very uncomfortable. I've owned 5 star crash test Fords before and this is by far the worst. My wife has problems with her hair in a pigtail as there is no relief for tilting it partially backwards. I wonder what criteria had to met on this Ford only, since others are ok? Exchanging for a different headrest is essential for long trips. I believe someone mentioned comparison of the guide posts to another vehicle? Which ones are interchangeable?
  8. I have the FWD, but am wondering why you chose winter tires? Is it because chains/cables are not encouraged in the owner's manual if you have 18-20" rims? Or is more of a Canadian snow thing? Rusty
  9. I'll look them up on the Web, but we like to purchase actual Ford products for our vehicles, to a fault. Will still check them out... Thanks. Rusty
  10. Great idea with the comparison thing. I'll do that tomorrow. And I'll get some pix to show the floor mats. I have to say that everyone that sees the black mats with the embroidery, including our Ford dealer, really likes the idea. We owned a Volvo XC70, and the rear cargo mat, very thick, had a tight loop carpet look to it and withstood much abuse. Wish I could get something like that material for the Edge cargo area as the black rubber mat doesn't work for storage of white color clothing without rubber marks. Thanks for your comments.... Rusty
  11. The mats look great and am happy we purchased them since the dirt will now be concealed. Thanks for the clarification. Was wondering why the back mats don't quite match the seat bolts though. However I am happy with the look. Just added fish-eyes (wide mirror) to the side view mirrors. There is a blind spot on the driver's side, even for a huge SUV. Been doing this since I drove a ProSound Truck in the 70's (back in my day!). Thanks again. Rusty
  12. I can't believe how quickly the camel floor mats got dirty. After only 3 days, they're filthy and dark. So we purchased the black floormats, and they look great in the two tone interior. However the rear mats don't really fit around the seat bolts. Anyone else have this problem?
  13. When I purchased my 2008 White Sand Tricolor, the camel floor mats came with it. After reading some of the threads, I decided to purchase the charcoal (black) floor mats since the interior is two tone. So here's the prob....the camel mats are just plain mats, whereas the black floor mats have the word "EDGE" in raised letters. I like the raised letters, but am wondering why the original camel mats didn't comet that way. Anyone else have this?
  14. I know there is an option to get the lower portion in White Sand, but think that the black grill doesn't look as good as the fake chrome, IMHO. I know Ford is pushing that 3 slot grill (not sure why it's so great), even though the cars of the 60's and 70's really boasted their grills.
  15. Just purchased the white sand tricoat 2008 Limited with 20" rims, but have a couple of questions: 1- Does anyone know when the bra will be available for this vehicle? All of my vehicles have had bras, even the bikini bra for the hood, that has saved my paint from pitting on long trips through the Mojave desert (only way to get to Las Vegas). 2- I read in the manual that neither chains nor cables are allowed on this vehicle if you have 18" or 20" rims. I understand about chains, but cables too? Especially after the finance department requires a signature that you won't put chains on. Thanks
