  1. I had a 2011 Edge that had a problem with the driver's door switch.  This was apparently a common issue with 2011 Edges.  The door switch malfunctioned and kept telling me the door was open when it was closed.  Although I did not experience the battery issues, I think that if the door switch was malfunctioning intermittently, it could cause lights to go on and off as well as other electronics in the vehicle running the battery down.

  2. This is probably a long shot but if your vehicle has traction control maybe it is detecting wheel slippage either due to a wrong size tire or a faulty sensor.  If it detects wheel slippage it cuts power to the wheels.  Traction control can be turned off for 1 ignition cycle.  On my 2015 Edge I was able to do this via the menu.  On my 2019 Edge there is a button on the dash.

  3. I have had 4 Ford Edges but never experienced anything like this on any of them.  I did, however, experience something like that on a 2002 Ford Explorer that turned out to be a steering linkage component that was part of a recall.  The vehicle would wander and got worse the faster I went.  I don't recall what part it was and the linkages are probably quite different on an Edge.  Hope you get it sorted.

Hello people, new to forum and new to a more computerized kind of car , sorry I'm old school, anyways my oil status on dashboard states that the oi life is at 22% .

I checked  the oil stick and oil level is where it supposed to be, and it doesn't look burn either , so honestly I don't  know what is the system check is telling me, any help , suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

The oil life monitor monitors a number of factors (in addition to mileage) to determine how much life is left in your oil.  However, the reading is only valid if it was reset to 100% the last time the oil was changed.

  5. I have a 2019 Edge Titanium with 4,500 miles.  My mirrors have never tilted.  I have had 4 Edge Titaniums and none had tilting mirrors.  I have never seen this feature described in any Ford literature or web site.  However, if you find it is an available feature I would definitely be interested in it.  The backup camera provides a lot of visibility when backing up but not along side the vehicle.

what kind of tires do you have on the edge?

Sorry.  I missed your post so am very late responding.  I had the original all season tires on the vehicle.  I believe they were Hanook.  Still no problem climbing the hill with traction control off.

  7. I have the same vehicle.  If I am travelling around 60mph with little or no headwind I get around 26 to 27mpg.  At 70 or 80mph with a headwind it will drop to around 21 or 22 mpg.  With a strong headwind it can drop to 20 or lower.  Not sure why you would get less.

I just purchased 2015 for edge 2.0 eco-and I’m getting 19.5 mpg. The rating on it is 21 mpg to 30 mpg with average 24.5 MPG. Any suggestions on why I’m getting this gas mileage I live in California and I use my car mainly on highway. Please advise!

  9. I want to pass on an experience I had with the traction control on my 2015 Ford Edge AWD. I live in NW Ontario, Canada on the shore of Lake of the Woods. My driveway has a steep hill that I have to climb to get out. I have been driving up this hill in winter conditions for 26 years with 3 ford Explorers, a Ford Escape and 3 Ford Edges, all with 4WD or AWD and have never had a problem until now. Shortly after snow and some freezing rain I tried to drive up this hill. 3/4 of the way up, the traction control light came on and I lost power which stopped me at that point. I admit there was some spinning and sliding but that is normal. I tried to back down the hill but as soon as I started to move, the heavier front of the vehicle went first and I started to slide sideways down the hill. This hill is not much wider that the Edge is long and there are steep banks down to large rocks. Eventually I got turned around and got off the hill without going over the side. I checked the manual and determined how to turn off traction control which I did and drove out with no problem. Over the next couple of weeks I drove out with traction control disabled and again no problem. Then one day after turning it off I attempted to drive out and part way up the hill traction control turned back on by itself and cut power to the wheels stopping me at the same spot. It was a strange situation as both the traction control 'OFF' icon and the traction control 'ON' icon illuminated simultaneously, a situation that should never coexist. That condition eventually cleared itself after another uncontrolled decent down the hill and several attempts to manually clear it. I went to the dealer who couldn't do anything as the condition had cleared. While traction control may be an important safety feature on level ground it can be an unsafe feature on a hill so if anyone has a driving situation like mine, just be aware.

  10. I had this issue with a 2011 Edge. Turning ignition off then back on corrected issue which just resets the computer. I now have a 2015 Edge and although I haven't experienced that specific problem yet, I have other issues, such as the driver's seat not always coming forward, when the vehicle is started. Not a big deal but disappointing that the system is not more reliable.

  11. Hi folks,

I'm about 1000km (600 miles) into my new 2016 Sport, and the one thing I have noticed, is that the seats just aren't very comfortable for the driver. I've tried adjusting lumbar tension in the back, raising the seat up and down, and the sides of my ass still hurt after a long period of driving. The way the seats are bucketed, it appears to really push up against your butt. Now, I'm not a big guy (200 lbs, 6 feet tall), so I find it a bit strange that I'm having difficulty fitting into the seats properly.

Has anyone else noticed this? And if you have, does it work itself out after awhile (building your ass groove, so to speak).

    Thoughts?

I'm experiencing the same thing with my 2015 Edge Titanium. Tried multiple positions but nothing helps. My ass just hurts. I have 12,000 km (7,500 miles) and nothing has improved. I even tried a thin cushion but that was just useless plus could not use the heated or cooled seats. This is my 3rd Edge but there won't be a 4th if they don't change the seat design.

  12. I just bought my 3rd Edge- 2015 Titanium with the 2.0 ecoboost. My previous Edges were '08 & '11 with the 3.5 liter. I only have about 1,000 km (600 miles) on my new Edge so can't really give much detail on its performance but I am pleased with its low end torque and fuel consumption. I do want to comment, however, on some of the threads in this discussion regarding the cost of the 2.0 ecoboost. Some have indicated that there is a premium for this engine but that is not the case, at least not in 2015. For all models (except the Sport) the 2.0 ecoboost is the standard engine (both in the U.S. and Canada) and a premium of $400 to $500 is charged for the 3.5 liter.

  13. Thanks all. Loving the vehicle.

I just got the hitch installed yesterday - went with an aftermarket Class III hitch - I negotiated with Ford when I purchased the vehicle that I select the hitch for them to install - and surprisingly they listened. I read reviews (and heard from the sales guys) that the factory installed hitch obstructs the hand free liftgate and also requires the cutting into the bumper - the Curt Class III allows the handsfree liftgate to work and also sits under the bumper which requires no cutting.

Here are some of the pictures of the install. Don't pay too much mind to the old tongue and ball.

It's my understanding that with the factory hitch towing capacity is 3,500 pounds but only 2,000 pounds with an aftermarket hitch. My previous 2 Edges (08 & 11) both had factory hitches and included with that was a larger radiator, bigger battery, larger cooling fans and a transmission oil cooler. My current 2015 Edge also has a factory hitch but no mention of these extras. By the way, the handsfree liftgate on my '15 Edge with factory hitch works fine. This was not true in earlier Edges but it appears your dealer was not up to date on his facts.

  14. Just bought a new titanium Edge. 3 days old. My question is seats. Anyone besides me finding they give you a back problem? Perfect on the test drive, but 30 minutes in I'm constantly adjusting the seat. Only happened to me with one other car during my entire lifetime. Yea, I know how to properly adjust the seat and lumber, even did a google search, but for some reason it seems put be putting a strain on my back.

Please chime in for fixes not exercise routines as I am fit. I love this car and know this can be worked out.

2015 Edge Titanium, Bronze, AWD, 4 cylinder 2.0 Eco boost, tow package

I just ordered a 2015 Edge almost identical to yours. My wife and I are retired and drive from Canada to Texas each winter. Uncomfortable seats will be a major issue for us.

  15. I did some simple math and the 2.0l are running a premium of about 4k more than the 3.5L in pricing. Based on my fuel consumption it would take about 3.5 years to break even on the fuel savings then figure in the additional interest on the loan for the privilege along with higher registration fee due to the higher selling price I would be most likely having to drive the 2.0L at least 4 plus years just to break even on the extra costs vice just staying with the 3.5 Liter. I am referencing the SE models and not even getting into the AWD or Limiteds.

Not sure where you found that the 2.0 had a $4K premium. I checked both the Ford Canada and Ford U.S. web sites and the 2.0 is $400-$500 less expensive than the 3.5 for the 2015 model. I just ordered a 2015 Titanium with the 2.0. This will be my 3rd Edge. Ford is obviously pushing the eco-boost but strange thing- I checked Ford dealers around both Canada and the U.S. and about 80% of the new Edges on their lots have the 3.5. Not sure if the dealers are really on board with the 2.0.

  16. I will be ordering a 2015 Edge Titanium in a few days. This will be my 3rd Edge having owned a 2008 Limited and my current 2011 Limited. They are a perfect vehicle for my requirements- decent cargo space and 3,500 lb towing capability. And no 3rd row seats taking up cargo space. We test drove a 2015 with the V6 and will be testing one with the 2.0 in a few days to compare.

  17. Hi everyone. Just joined this forum but have been a Ford Edge owner since 2008. Am currently driving a 2011 Edge and about to purchase a 2015 Edge Platinum. But I have 2 questions- should I buy the 2.0 eco-boost or the 3.5 V6? And should I go with a black interior or the Ceramic? I test drove an Escape with the 2.0 and it seemed a bit noisy and created some vibration throughout the vehicle when sitting at a stop while in gear so I am concerned it may be the same in the Edge. We live in a small community and a 2.0 Edge was not available for a test drive so if anyone out there has some experience with it i would appreciate your thoughts and comments. We live in Canada bur winter in Texas. My wife thinks the black interior will be too hot. I am concerned that the Ceramic interior (which looks white in the pictures I have seen) will get dirty. Any thought on that issue? Thanks
