  1. Well I had bad experience with newer turbo vehicles actually- Acura RDX and a 2012 Mitsubishi Ralliart. You can call it my luck :) I am not mechanically inclined but I make sure all maintenance is done as per the service manual. I drive about 30000 KM's a year usually. I am thinking of keeping this Ford Edge for about 6-7 years. So I opted for V6.

I too have had bad experiences, but I chalk those up to being the out layers. For the most part extended warranties are a waste, but like I said earlier this has to be judged by each person. I would never fault anyone for buying one.

Note: Having problems with a Mitsubishi does not surprise me as they have had a tough time for awhile now with their diminishing market share, but surprised with the Acura as Honda has had a good track record with reliability. Again, I would chalk this up to the out layers.

    Best of luck everyone...

  2. I test drove 2.0 EB and 3.5 V6 Edge. I have owned turbo cars before and maintenance gets expensive after the KM's racked up. I would advice people buying the EB version to get the extended warranty. Turbo engines go through kinda torture internally and make sure to do the oil changes on time.

I bought the V6 AWD. Personally I felt 2.0 was trying too hard to give the power/acceleration so wasn't smooth. V6 sounds and is a much more smoother ride.

Only thing I am pissed off about is unable to find Cheap Winter Rims for the 2015.

Turbo charged cars of the past (more than 10yrs ago) did suffer some from higher maintenance cost, but that was not until well after 100k miles. This was usually the result of not maintaining the fuel and cooling systems correctly. Routine maintenance is not different. It is important no matter whether it is normally aspirated or force inducted. I trust today's force inducted engines more than ever as they are taking all of the experience learned with diesel engines and applying that to the engines. Diesel engines run for well over 300k miles and are tortured getting there. Also, I would not buy an extended warranty unless you intend to keep the vehicle well past 60k miles. You will be wasting your money on something you will most likely never use. If you understand one of the key concepts around reliability following the Bathtub Curve, you will notice that once you get past "Infant Mortality" the chance a failure will occur goes down significantly. The car has a 3yr 36k mileage bumper to bumper / 5yr 60k mileage powertrain warranty that will get you well past that region. Then you fall into the "Useful Life" portion which relies heavily on timely, correct preventative maintenance (routine inspection, cleaning, and service). My education and experience (I am a Reliability Engineer) have taught me that the majority of extended warranties are a waste of money and simply not needed. With all of this said, have I bought an extended warranty before? Absolutely!!! If I thought I was going to use something much harder than what the typical use would be or if I was going to stretch the boundaries of typical use, then I bought an extended warranty. I doubt any of us will stretch the boundaries of use or even get close to what Ford did from a testing perspective.

So now for a quick response to a question I'm sure someone will say or ask "why do cars break down then?', if you are saying that the likely hood is low. Simple, we cannot underestimate the human factor that go into building and maintaining these machines. Infant mortality failures are largely due to design, installation, service and operation. This is simply not the time the vehicle is new, it occurs every time you have the vehicle serviced or repaired. So the best thing we can do is get educated on how to routinely inspect and clean our vehicles.

    Note:

There will always be out layers to this methodology as there is with everything in life, so do what you think is best for yourself. If getting an extended warranty makes you feel better then by all means do so. You cannot underestimate the power of your own internal psychology.

  3. My 2016 order is:

Edge Sport (2.7 AWD), Electric Spice, Pano Roof, Black Alloys, 401A package :-D

Congrats on your order...Did they give you a price? MIne is similarly equipped and it came in at 46,600 - XPlan. Now with that said, the price could end up a little different once it is delivered. The dealership said that often times the numbers presented in the order guide at time of order can vary slightly once delivered. He said usually better for the customer, but he said we will have to see...

  4. Own my 15 sport for two week, 718 miles. only prob is trying to not lead foot and use up all the gas.

I did not get the AWD only went with FWD and the other day stood on the gas getting on freeway

has some torque steer that time 20-60mph. Now questioning if I made the right $1500 decision to Not option it.

What drove you to buy fwd versus awd? That is a lot of power to push through a fwd only vehicle. I bet it brings a smile to your face when you step on the gas...:)

  5. As a 2015 F150KR owner with the cooled seats, I have been very happy with how they work. If you follow the F150 forums you will notice a mixed response around them working / and not working. Ford recognizes there could be a design / installation flaw and is working to correct it. I think the reason you are not hearing much about it is due to the work going on in the background to correct it. Best of luck to those having a problem with getting it fixed.

  6. Thank you - look forward towards getting past the learning curve with all of the new options.

It wont take you long. You will be a pro before you know it. I have not taken delivery of mine as I ordered a 2016 Sport. I currently have a loaded 2013 Fusion Titanium (triple platinum white with dark charcoal rims) and I'm expecting the edge to only have minor differences to that.

  7. Placed my order yesterday. Was told it will probably be January delivery. They will keep me updated. $46,600 - X Plan (not sure this is final price as they said no incentives or discounts had been announced)

  8. I looked at some MKX's recently and the Allure Blue was a great color. It is more greyish blue than a true blue. I was hoping for a softer blue like Blue Candy on the Fiesta or Nitrous Blue on the Focus RS. I have a 2015 Ford F150 King Ranch and it is done in Bronze Fire with Caribou Accent. Very nice color scheme. I would have chosen that color but did not want 2 vehicles with the same color choice. You must see Bronze Fire in person to appreciate. I hope in the end I will be happy with Electric Spice.

  9. I just received a phone call from my dealer and they are adamant about the fact that the Order Bank is not open yet. They are saying there is no way anyone could have ordered a 16 yet nationwide. They said the dealership may take your information but that the actual order bank is not open to receive actual orders...

Can anyone in the know confirm this...I doubt that my dealer is lying as they have been great in all past dealings and are more than willing to sell me a car...

    thanks,

Maybe Ford has opened up ordering outside the USA...

  10. Those early builds are stock dealer orders so they're shipped out and end up on dealer lots. And yes, in some cases they have issues like my 2013 fusion. But I don't expect those types of problems with the 2016 edge because it's not a new design or platform and except for sync 3 is virtually the same as the 2015.

Once they reach the ok to buy I think the line is at full speed. Not sure about before that.

Thanks for the info akirby...What problems are you having with your 13 Fusion? I have a 13 Fusion Titanium and have had no issues to date. I have ~55k miles on it and all is well (at least for now)...I was the first person to get one in the Indianapolis area, it arrived in either Late October or early November of 2012. BTW I have done a few mods to my car with STEEDA upgrades and now the car is where it should have been from the start.

  11. Production start is not 10/22 - that's when scheduling begins. Job 1 is 12/2.

    akirby,

Just curious is Job 1 the first mixture of vehicles being built and then Job 2 for those who order? I am going down this Monday to order, but I want to be realistic on how long it may take to receive my vehicle.

    thanks,

  12. Latest dates are the order bank opens 10/12 so the order guide should be out within the next 2 weeks but it's not available yet.

Thanks for the info. I was recently told mid October by the dealer...They said last they heard it will include adaptive cruise and sync 3...but as everything changes can be made last minute...
