  1. We purchased our 2008 Edge Limited new. It now has a little over 33k miles on it w/o having a single problem to date. I shouldn't have said that. The long trip mileage is around 26-27 and that's mostly interstate driving at 70+ mph w/cruise control and the A/C on. Around town we are getting a true 19 mpg. The ride is very comfortable. We would definitely buy another Edge to replace this one.
  2. I wish I had seen this thread earlier. When I took my '08 Edge Limited in for the 15,000 mi. service and asked about the cabin air filter, I was told that my model did not have the flter. OK on my way. 15k later, I'm in for the 30k service and I'm told that they do not have a filter but it is on order. I ask about the original statment of my Edge not having the filter. No one seems to know until a more experienced tech shows the FNG where to find it. I go back this morning to have it installed and one, two three they replace the old one with a new one to the tune of $26.52 and that is w/o labor! After reading this thread, I went out and figured out how to remove my glove box and access the filter. That's the last time my dealer gets $26.52 for one of those things. Thanks to those who posted the info on locating the filter.
  3. Thanks for the link. I downloaded the file last night and installed it this morning. Seems to work but only time will tell.
  4. As for my beautiful '08 Creme Brulee Limited- this is what we have also. Overall Comfort ****1/2 Interior quietness ***** Ride ***** Handling **** Braking **** Engine(Noise Smoothness Vibration) ***** Power ***** Body Structure(Rattles Etc) ***** Overall Satisfaction ***** If you had to do it over again, would you buy an Edge(yes no maybe)? YES
  5. As I earlier posted, when we bought our 2008 we naturally wanted floor mats. After some research we bought a set of front only WeatherTech All-Weather mats in tan. They were good for awhile but I found it hard to get them clean from normal everyday foot dirt. The "tan" seemed to age some and got darker w/age. They didn't match anything in the interior. ??? I recently ordered a set of the WeatherTech Floor Liners in black. They arrived yesterday. WOW, what a difference. They look great with the black side panels and dash of the Edge. The fit of these liners is outstanding. The important thing is that my wife likes them better, that's a good thing, and now wants a set for the rear.
  6. Well, I've come to the conclusion that the SYNC system (in my Edge) is a POS!!! I activate the system, it asks for a command, I say call...it asks for the number/who to call. I give it a person listed in my down loaded phone book and it begins to dial someone completely different!!! It will do this three or four times in a row!!!!! It only works well on incoming calls.
  7. The single most important problem here is that Ford said it was a Verizon phone issue and Verizon said it was a Ford issue. Neither seemeed to have the technical knowledge to figure it out. The Verizon guy seemed to want to help a bit more than Ford did initially and I did get a free software upgrade for my phone. I feel it's a Ford issue because I bought a Ford and they chose to offer the SYNC feature to their customers. They should be prepared to assist the customer with ANY problem arising from this technology. I have a copy of the SYNC Handbook given to the Ford people which lays out how to assist the customer with the SYNC feature. It's pretty straight forward. I guess not many employees have read this handbook. Maybe that's why the salesman was so eager to give his copy away! Anyway, my phone is still working...for now. :-)
  8. Well, I get into the Edge today to head up to the dealer. When I started the vehicle, I saw the phone light up and a brief message on the radion panel. It connected!!! Made a couple of calls, downlaoded my phonebook again (I deleted it all yesterday) and it is good to go. Go figure. My phone is a Motorola Razor and it's about a year and a half old. I gave the contact person at my Ford dealer a call to advise that I wouldn't be coming in. She called me back a short time later and advised that they had a short meeting just this AM over this very issue. It's seems that my experience isn't an isolated one in this area.
  9. When we got our 2008 Edge, our salesman paired my Motorola/Verizon bluetooth-enabled cell phone service with the SYNC in the vehicle. For the most part, it has worked w/o problem until yesterday. The phone was not recognized, would not work and I could not get it (SYNC) to recognize it. After numerous attempts yesterday, I went to the Ford dealer today for assistance but found that they had not a clue and my salesman had left the dealership. Cutting this rather short, the Ford dealer tried another phone, got it to pair but did not make a call. My phone would not pair so he figured it was the phone. I went to my Verizon dealer and explained. They could not get it to pair either, even after upgrading the phone software. Another new phone there would not pair either. I have an appointment tomorrow with the same Ford dealer with someone who is suppose to be familiar with these issues. We shall see. Has anyone else experienced anything like this with their Edge or SYNC in general?
  10. We just returned from an 11 day trip from FL to NJ and back to FL. 90% of the trip was interstate driving the rest was around town in NJ. We had just over 1,000 miles on the vehicle when we began the trip. At 70 mph we averaged 27-28 mpg. Bump it up to 75 and the average dropped to around 24-25 so we stayed at 70 max. :-) Where we drove at 60-65 mph we averaged 30+ mpg. The trip cost us $380.00 for gas. I was amazed that this vehicle, FWD, could give that type of fuel economy. The onboard computer is very sensitive to the changes in the road, more so than any vehicle we have had with this type of feature. We are getting better than the listed 16 mpg around town. I would say the average is close to 19 mpg. I can live with this type of mileage from a vehicle of this type/size.
  11. I must have missed the part of the new vehicle intro that covered oil changes because I wasn't quite sure of when to have the oil changed in our new '08 Edge Limited for the first time. The service manual begins at 7,500 miles!!! I've never gone this long on any oil change, especially the first one. I'm a normal 3,000 mile type of guy between regular oil changes but I'm also use to 1,500 miles or so for the initial one. I went to my dealer's service dept. and asked. They confirmed that 7,500 miles was the first along with a tire rotation but, if I wasn't comfortable with waiting that long, I could come in at 3,000 if I felt better about that. What has everyone done in regard to their first oil change? Have you actually waited 7,500 miles?
  12. We bought the Weather Tech front floor matts listed specifically for the '08 Edge as well as the cargo liner. We also have the camel interior with the Creme Brule exterior so we bought the tan color. It looks real good in our Edge and fit is great. We are very pleased with Weather Tech products.
  13. The MSRP on our Edge Limited that we bought last week was $33.015.00. Setting aside all the "other" charges that every dealer figures in, we got $3,400.00 knocked off the MSRP which brought the price down to $29,615. $2,000.00 Ford rebate/incentive $400.00 for some kind of customer appreciation $1,000.00 for trading a Chev. on the Ford We're happy with the deal we got w/o running all over the country side shopping.
  14. We just bought a cargo liner and bug/stone deflector from Weather Tech. We're also placing an order for floor matts.
  15. Funny, we are waiting on a Weather Tech cargo liner and a bug/stone deflector. The Ford OEM deflector was too rich for my blood.
