  1. could be lots of things, but my 2011 Limited started acting odd on just the drivers side. I would have to put the temperature all the way to high and then bring it back down for it to react. Took it to the dealer 2 weeks ago. Their diagnosis on my invoice says " HVAC Control Module reprogrammed with latest calibration per TSB 11-8-7"

Seems to have fixed mine. Not sure if will apply to 2012

  2. Thanks. I'd done all the research in advance and was thrown off by their use of the word "front"

And based on all these posts about adding the drain so we can service these and extend their lives, I'm wishing they would have installed the Middle Eastern PTU that apparently has the drain as I understand it

Great board, lots to learn here for the DIYer's

  3. Picked up my CPO 2011 Edge Limited today after asking the dealer to check for the PTU leak. Service slip says "excessive resistance found inside front PTU, almost unable to spin. Front PTU replaced." Cost was covered under the CPO warranty. I looked up the PTU part number on the invoice (AT4Z 7251 G) and see the part alone is $905..............

I think I got lucky taking it in as soon as I spotted the leak since it looks like it's days were numbered.

  4. 275 posts on this topic, so seemed like it was only a matter of time before it was my turn. Starting seeing the dreaded black goo on my garage floor last week. My 2011 Edge is a CPO with 47K miles. Took it in to the dealer yesterday and they kept it, said yes, it's the PTU, and gave me a loaner. Pick it up Friday......... Also found a hydraulic leak (transmission filter?)

    Update Friday

  5. This just happened to my 2011 Limited, so I've been doing research. Turns out it's a pretty simple DIY. Assuming it's the housing, it only comes as one piece but the most expensive one unpainted (every option like BLIS, heated, with memory) is just over $300 for a 2013 Limited. Use your model info to find yours. This is the lowest pricing I've found on the web for any Ford parts:

    http://stores.revolutionparts.com/parts.autonationfordwhitebearlake.com/auto-parts/2013/ford/edge/limited-trim/3-5l-v6-gas-engine/body-cat/outside-mirrors-scat

I believe the painted portion of your mirror if not damaged, that piece is removable and can be installed on your new mirror. This video for an Explorer shows how to get that off and it should be the same. Anyone who'd done this, please chime in

I'm about to order the new housing, my undamaged black cover will be getting reused

hope this helps, since the dealer seems to be ridiculously overcharging you

  6. As an update on leather headrests for my 2011 Edge Limited, the 2013 adjustable leather headrests arrived last night. They come in 2 pieces and it took me about 20 minutes all in to convince the leather covers to go on, but be patient and just inch them a little at a time. They have overlapping flaps that snap together to form a hidden, clean look underneath. End result is a fantastic improvement. I can now sit up straight, and they look and work great. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh...........................

All in, here's what I ordered from AutoNation Ford White Bear Lake (lowest price I could find on the web):

    CT4Z-74610A62-EB HEADREST COVER CHARCOAL, Qty 2, $65.40 x 2 = $130.80

    CT4Z-78611A08-A HEADREST PAD Qty 2, $93.38 x 2 = $186.76

    plus freight

    $300+, but worth every penny

  8. New here, first post, but love these forums and always contribute on other forums as I find/fix things or need help.

I picked up a loaded black 40K mile CPO 2011 Edge Limited 3 weeks ago, love it, and have been looking for upgrades. Weathertech added all around, and I installed this bumper protector and it covers the bumper lip and looks great. Got it here:

I've also ordered the headrests for a 2013 (the fixed headrests on the 2011 are painful) and those are on their way, so I'll let you know how that goes
