  1. Hello Edge Owners, I have an 08 Edge SE 3.5l V6 and yesterday tried to do a cooling system flush and replacement. It was easy to find the drain plug on the bottom of the radiator (driver side) however only about a gallon and a half came out and according to the specs it should take 11.7 quarts or close to 3 gallons. I would appreciate anyone who knows where the other half is and how to get it out to chime in! Thanks in advance. Mark
  2. I do not know any details but see that this post has been lingering for some time. As I am now starting my research to portable GPS compatibility I came across this post from www.syncmyride.com in the owners section by searching for "GPS". http://boards.synccommunity.com/n/pfx/foru...btag=fordsyncmb "I've searched the net trying to find the answer and I found a lot of people asking the same thing, but no one actually confirming or denying The question is "if SYNC will stream GPS from a mobile phone through the speakers", and YES, YES it does. I should add, i'm using the Canadian version of the Samsung Blackjakc II (i616). Not listed on the tested list, but never the less it works with bluetooth audio streaming. The cool thing is that I downloaded mobile Sirius for WM5 and it works brilliantly with GPS still running. So, it doesn' mute the music when the next GPS prompt comes through, but the volume is perfect that it clearly comes through with the music playing, at any volume. It's a good feature to have so you can listen to music when using the mobile GPS. Good news so I don't have to get a stand alone GPS." I hope this helps anyone looking for GPS through their phone. 3. I have not but have been considereing making the jump to a locking cap myself. Hopefully someone who has will post their experiences. 19.3 gallons is quite a bit of gas to loose and we just recently had someone siphon gas from canisters in my neighbors boat. Thanks for starting this post. Mark
  4. Thanks for the suggestions. Here is what I ended up doing. Compared to my Escape where I really had the problem the dual exhaust cools the temp quite a bit and this heat shield that I added only cost me about 25 bucks. It did a great job of diverting the exhaust. I was concerned that the shield may cause an issue with the bumper while idling or in traffic but no issues. I hope this helps. Mark
  5. Hi Everyone, A problem I ran into with my Escape and it appears it will be the same with the Edge is exhaust melting gear on a hitch mounted cargo carrier. Because the after market hitches hang under the bumper it places your gear directly in the path of the heat. On the net I found many people recommend putting a turn down tip on the exhaust, but doesn't that affect the performance? The only time I really use this is when I am traveling a great distance so I would hate to put a turn down tip on for such limited use. I think that would look silly and then would require me to have two sets of tips to change out. That sounds expensive. Has anyone else came up with a solution for this? Thanks in advance for your help. Mark
  6. I went back to the instructions just to confirm on the bolt sizes from the reply above and it does list two bolt sizes. I am attaching it in case anyone is interested. Mark Curt_Hitch_Installation.pdf
  7. Man Bob, that is a good looking ride. I am glad to hear about the towing capabilities and how smooth she went. I plan on looking into the thread you linked to regarding the transmission cooler. That is something I did not know. I had my wiring harness done by the Ford Dealership we bought it at. This is something they offered to do for me to make up for the horrendous experiences throughout our sales process. I took them up on it once I saw the installation instructions. Mark
  8. Hi Everyone, I figured I would start a new post regarding the installation of the Curt hitch to make it easier for future searches, and since the Hidden Hitch thread was hijacked by us. Where I ordered it- Fast delivery and great price $115 including shipping. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD-EDGE-L...emZ140241765758 I installed my Curt over the weekend. It took me about 3 hours as I took my time and probably did things the hard way. Things I learned that really helped. 1. Use WD40 on the rubber muffler mounts. That helps significantly for removal. (Another users tip that saved me time.) 2. Take note there are two different size bolts. The larger of the two sizes go into the holes closest to the front of the vehicle, and require a deep socket because of the extra length of the bolt. I used loc-tite and this discovery had me scrambling for a 3/4" wrench because I don' own deep sockets. No worries. 3. Have a set of needle nose vice grips handy. (This helps your retreive your end of the wire easier inside of the frame by reaching up through the bolt hole and and pulling it back out.) 4. When drilling your holes use a new bit. (I did not, and it was a challenge. Others who did said it went through easily.) 5. When fishing the wire through for the drilled holes do the process in reverse. Fish the threaded end up through the drilled hole and out the end of the frame by the bumper. Then attach your bolt and square spacer. Then fish back through. (This helps because the angle of entry by entering from the access hole at the end of the frame sends the wire vertical up towards the vehicles body and is almost impossible to retreive. Once I reversed the process no problem.) 6. Oh yeah. I used my motorcycle jack to hold the hitch in place. It fit perfectly between the two exaust pipes, and helped significantly. Thanks to everyone that has helped and suggested this hitch. Link to other Curt threads: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=1698 http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2586 Thanks again. Mark
  9. Just got it today and it definately is the Curt. It does not look like the photo on ebay either. It is the hitch that has the two downward sloping angles and the receiver part becomes more horizontal hanging below the bumper. I am sure this is the same as what you have. I guess because I am on the East Coast it only took two days to get here. I hope to do the install this weekend. I will take some photos when I am done! Mark
  10. I found this trailer hitch on ebay. According to the downloadable instructions it is the Curt CLass III hitch. These are the u-haul version but according to an e-mail reply I received back they are made by Curt. I ordered it for $115 including FREE SHIPPING. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD-EDGE-L...emZ140241765758 I will confirm after it is delivered that it is the same Curt as the rest of you got. Mark
  11. Persoanlly I agree. I can't even beleive that 1.25 exist. I laugh every time I see and Explorer with the 1.25". But I guess someone smarter than me knows that they must function OK or they probably wouldn't exist. Does anyone know if drilling holes for the Curt hitch has any negative implications to the factory warranty? That would be my only fear of installing that hitch over one that does not require drilling. Thanks for your help again. Mark
  12. Lex, Does the Curt hitch hang below the bumper or is the cross bar concealed behind the bumper? Thanks for the info. Mark
  13. Which hidden hitch did you install? (Model #) I am looking to make a purchase and install one myself but am looking for one that doesn't require me to drill on the frame. I beleive the hidden hitch models all work with the existing holes. Does the hitch hang below your bumper or is bumper modification required? And lastly did you have to drop your muffler for the install? Thanks in advance for your help. Mark
  14. I just had my harness done by Ford, and I was told that it was a difficult install. It took 4.5 hours to do. The tech said he could have done it quicker but to do it right took that long. Thankfully they covered the cost of the harness and install because of some bad experiences with the sales process. Does anyone have any photos of any hitches they installed that may help me choose one? Are there any that do not require the exhaust to be lowered? That is the next step for me. Thanks. Mystery
