  1. My 2015 Edge had a bad PTU at 42K miles, after a dealer replaced a leaking input shaft seal before I bought it used at about 22K. If the first dealer really did just replace the seal without changing oil, that seems funny. OTOH, if they "serviced " the unit and it only lasted another 20K miles, that gives a lifetime of only 42K miles, even with an oil change every 20K miles, or so. The PTU was replaced because of gunk coming out the vent and metal filings in the gunky lubricant. Sounds like a life of only 40K, even when replacing a seal at 22K. Looks like keeping the edge only until the powertrain warranty is about to expire. Sad, because I really like the car, otherwise.
  2. The repair was about 6 months ago, the car had about 24K miles when we bought it, and it now has about 38K miles. It might be a different seal. Still, what good is a warranty if it does not cover warranted parts and labor? It seems like it would be incumbent upon Ford to take corrective action with the original service department/technician if they did not follow approved repair procedures. Especially if a repair is needed while out of the area, for example... Thanks for your insight.
  3. So, my ford edge (2015) had a leak in the PTU that was fixed by one ford dealer. It is leaking again. I called a nearby ford dealer and was told that, it the seal was improperly repaired at the first dealer, my local dealer wold have to charge me for its repair, since it was not one of "their" technicians who did the original work. WTF! This means that any repair done by one dealership will not be honored by any other dealership. Shouldn't Ford's own training and quality assurance processes mean that all work done by Ford technicians should be fully backed by Ford nationwide? Has anyone else run into this situation???
  4. There appears to be a plastic piece attached to the assembly and to the frame. Is the little square plus in the plastic piece covering a screw of some sort? No screws are visible.
  5. My right tail light housing is loose at the front. It was recently replaced by the dealer. How do I get access to whatever screws hold it in place? The dealer who did the replacement is quite a drive, and I figure it must be a simple fix.
