I'm also experiencing the ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED warning light.  It first started at 48,000 miles.  When it happens the steering wheel points to the left at 9 o'clock when the wheels are straight.  I brought it to my local dealer.  The tech couldn't find any problems or error codes on the onboard diagnostics.  It's been occurring intermittently for the past 4 month. About once every 5 weeks.   I brought it to the second dealership.  They recommend I replace the SECM, the entire steering wheel at a cost of $1729.  Has anyone has this problem successfully fixed?  If so, was it covered by the warranty or did you have to pay our of packet?>

Most of the people in this thread had this issue and got it fixed under warranty. Atleast I did. Its been working fine since repair.

  2. I got it repaired finally. They replaced the steering wheel column as expected.

But I have no recollection of how light/heavy the adaptive steering is supposed to feel.

Is there a definite way to verify the adaptive steering still works ? The menu entries do exist still.

  3. I have this issue now on my 2016 Edge Titanium.

    Quick questions :

    1) Is this issue fixed under warranty ?

    2) Is there anything I can say to the dealer so they go straight to replacement of the steering wheel and not waste time with other "solutions" ?

Is my life at risk by driving the car with this issue ?

  4. Agreed. I ought to remain positive.

After all, the shop is insurance company's preferred shop and both of them together promise lifetime guarantee of repairs.

The last and worst thing I could do is become the smart kid around the corner who guides them what exactly to do. Result would be them saying, since you lead the whole process, now you own anything that goes wrong.

  5. Thanks guys.

The shop said they will put only Ford OEM parts since my car's age and mileage is so low.

They however seem to be going overboard with what all to do.

It was a minor fender bender in the front left corner with minor scratch on the wheel.

They are going to replace the tire and have listed rear view mirror, door handle etc. which are far away from the damage.

On asking they said, its required for paint bending.

I guess I can just hope that they dont go overboard with repairs just to jack up the bill and screw up my car in the process.

  6. I had a fender bender recently and am getting repairs done from insurance company recommended shop.

My 2016 Edge is just an over an year old and thus still under the 3 yr warranty.

Question is : Must Ford be involved somehow in the process to ensure the warranty is not void ?

The repair shop said no need but I dont know if I can just take their word on it.

  7.

My Sirius updated as well this morning but not sure that comes from wifi? I keep hoping that when I pull into my driveway that the download icon on my screen starts showing something...

My sirius also got updated this morning. I am sure that came from a satellite as I wasnt connected to wifi that time.

Interestingly, there was no option for me to approve or deny that upgrade.

  8. I gave up hope on Ford as well finally and updated my sync myself.

Thanks a lot to everyone on this thread. Especially steps from Rocketboots.

    No issues so far.

But why do people on this thread say the voice commands have gotten better. I find it chatty still. Even worse, it speaks slower now which is annoying.

Another annoyance is (Android Auto fault), which has no way to hide the huge green icon on the left when navigating. So no way to see full screen map when navigating.

On the plus side, I really love the ability to do "OK google" without having to press any button before.

  9. I dont pay Apple/Microsoft or any other company 50 grands either.

Also one companies practice is not another companies bible.

Also a company not doing something doesnt mean it shouldnt do it.

I agree complaining wont help but the other person has the right to complain. Asking him not to complain is double insult.

And his post was helpful to others since it keeps other people from contacting Ford with same stuff and get frustrated also.

  10. I understand SW projects have tendency to get delayed but there are still things Ford can do :

    1) Come clean with the current status of the project. Tell us X% testing/fixes are still remaining with best and worst case ETA based on where things are. When a company cant keep schedules, they must give up their right to complete privacy of how they work.

    2) Stop insulting the customers by tossing them to the dealer. The dealers dont know @#$@ about AA/CA

    3) Apologize to Android customers since it looks like CA issues are blocking the whole update. I might be wrong on this one.

    4) Fix the price of the HW thingy CA users will need. Dont leave it to dealer mafia.

Being sent to the dealer for everything is the thing I hate the most. Does each and every Ford dealership have staff technical enough to explain all details ?

Cant Ford employ just 5 tech people to answer tech questions.

Anyways, having said all that, I would be surprised if the update comes before Feb next year.

And I am not even interested in that update anymore. I wish applink worked with more apps. (Seems like even spotify doesnt support applink anymore)
