  1. LME will adjust shift pressures if you ask them. They have done it quite frequently on the 3.5EB platform. Also, they recommend "overfilling" the trans fluid by maybe a pint or so to keep cavitation from happening. Might be worth asking if this applies to the 2.7EB also.

With aggressive tunes, I like to run a bit more octane than the tuner specifies. Ecoboosts like their cushions LOL.

As soon as I experienced the hard shifts (LMS calls them firm shifts), I called Andrew. He told me the only difference between the 93P and 93A tunes is the shifting and more aggressive shift points, otherwise, the tunes are identical. That's why I went back to the 93P. I experience firm shifts on that tune, not the cringe inducing shifts of the 93A.

  2. Im not a fan of the race gas at the track. Only cause you arent driving everyday on it. Its like being at a red light telling someone you ran 13 flat but knowing right now your only gonna get a 13.4. Is it great for better numbers most definitely.

I agree. I just want the time slip. ;)

What LMS tune did you use to get mid to low 13's? When I am running a tune I use the 91 Performance.

I run the 93 performance tune exclusively. I tried the 93 aggressive tune briefly but the (down)shifts were harsh as f***.

If you're going to change from 91 to 93, make sure you run a tank of 93 through before you make the switch to the 93 tune. This is advice I followed from Jaime (or is it Jamie, idk) at LMS when I went from 87 to 93. I don't imagine a huge impact going from 91 to 93 but I like to follow the advice of the guys who tuned my car. :)

  3. Mounting it near the sun visor will put it behind the coating at the top of the windshield. This will attenuate part of the signal and dramatically shorten tbe reception range.

I respectfully disagree, unless you have metallic tint or a metallized windshield, of which the Edge has neither. As such, signal attentuation and the impact on range is negligible with a high mount versus a mid or low mount.

The OP has a 2017 Edge. When mounted to the visor the detector would be below the tint, just like mine.

  4. I got my letter in the mail and called my dealership the next day. They said they had to order the part. I said, that my letter states the parts are available. She said, yes they are, for us to order them... Will take two days to arrive at the dealership she says. That was early Wednesday, and as of today, no call from the dealership.

I'm not proud of it and admittedly, this isn't my most rational thinking but I'm not happy with this -

The parts should ALREADY be at the dealership. How many Edges (or affected vehicles) were recalled? As a parts manager, you should be aware of recalls and the affected parts, no? If so, do some simple math (with sales figures obtained from your sales department) and make an initial order of a small percentage of Edges sold from your dealership, say 10%. That way in the early stages of the recall, when customers get that stupid letter, they can take in their vehicle without delay and get it fixed! Be proactive instead of reactive, or is that too much to ask? Maybe my expectations are too high...or maybe it's not me at all. Perhaps customer service is dying.

I need a hug and a tissue. Thanks for reading.

    Rant over.

  5. Installed the Strut Tower Brace today, it fit like a glove without any problems. I cannot tell any difference yet, I believe that when I push the car in the canyon I will be able to tell if it helps then. Here are some photos of the installed Brace.

Looking at this pic, am I correct in assuming that the engine cover is removable without disconnecting STB?

  6. Yes by modded I meant LMS tuned. Have you recorded a quarter mile time? He also ups the octane by using race gas. I think his launches are around 1500.

Yes, I've run mid to low 13's at the track. I haven't yet ventured into race gas territory but I will the next time I head to the strip, anything to get a couple tenths, right?! 1,500 seems like too low of an RPM to induce wheel hop as the torque curve has barely started its' rise to peak...

  7. Well the modded sport apperantly has wheel hop, and "Leo" thinks he could break into the 12s for the quarter mile if he could get rid of it.

there is talk about it on the Ford Edge sport Facebook group.

    I'm not on FB so....

But by modded, do you mean tuned? I'm tuned and I've never experienced wheel hop. If launched at the correct RPM, (2,000-2,200) I don't get so much as a peep from the stock Pirelli's. On summer tires I'd imagine I could bump up the launch RPM to around 2,300-2,500, maybe even a tad higher and not get wheel hop. Maybe I got a 'slow' model.

  8. I have been attending Supercar Sunday of late, http://www.supercarsunday.com and running the Mulholland Snake, https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=GWhe1pbOBzE attachicon.gifThe Charm of the Snake.jpg as well as a few other select spots after the show. This last Sunday I found myself running with a brand new bad ass Corvette and the week before with a McLarin. As it it not a race but spirited driving I have found that I can run with these super cars, sometimes in front sometimes following. This would not be possible without the addition of the H&R springs. Having Rotora 15inch 6 pot brakes up front helps as well. The only problems are learning the road, lateral support of the seats and that huge "A "pillar creating a blind spot on tight left turns. Otherwise I run with them just fine . I receive tons of compliments on the Edge Sport and have received thumbs up from surprised supercar owners after running a canyon with them.

This only confirms my thoughts. The handling on my Edge has easily been improved 10 fold with these springs. Even on the stock Pirelli's I can take turns at silly speeds that I wouldn't think of without them. It will only get better next summer when I get my hands on some Michelin Latitude Sport 3's. I can't wait. Cheers!
