  1. You don't have to spend too much at the dealership - You can pick up a 2010 Ford Navigation system from Ebay if you're patient enough or you could pick up one of these for a good deal: Ford Aftermarket Navigation System
  2. Bringing back a dead thread - but for those who may still want to know this - If you're tapping into the Driver Side Kick Panel for the Ford Edge VSS Wire, you must tap into the Brown/Green wire... This Brown/Green wire is twisted with a Blue/Orange wire. Just make sure you use the Brown/Green wire for the VSS. Also, for Illumination, I just tapped into the signal wire from the Hazard Light switch... It's a Dark Brown wire, it lights up the Hazard button when you turn on the light switch... It's right there and easy to tap into! Now this thread could go cold again...
  3. Anyone selling or know someone who's selling the factory subwoofer and enclosure that comes with the Audiophile system? I'm really interested in picking one up for my Edge - Please let me know! Thanks!!
  4. Pics of my car by the way.... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3117239 - If link fails, try this: www.cardomain.com/id/fraychild
  5. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING I WILL SAY TO YOU GUYS IS THIS: The Manifold is a BREEZE to take out - Seriously - don't let that complicated-engine-look fool you!! - THE MOST time you will spend is trying to get a good grip on those rubber hoses connected to the rear of the manifold - That's because they are located in rather awkward spots and since the cars are new - they require a little elbow grease on your part to pull them out - Everything else is guaranteed easy!! Sorry - I didn't use a torque wrench - I've been working on cars for some time now - I'm not gonna pretend I'm some super-mechanic, but I know when not to overtighten a bolt - especially when the Manifold is made of hard plastic... It's actually an Intake Manifold - it has a built-in a gasket (green) - There was no need for me to change that as it looked brand new and didn't even have a dot of oil on it.... At this point i really wish i had taken pictures... i know how important/informative/helpful those pictorial write-ups can be... I've used quite a few if them in the past...
  6. I just did this yesterday - I should've taken pictures and do a write-up about it - sorry guys - but here goes: Background Info: I drive a 2007 Edge SE FWD at 51K miles - I do a lot of NY - AL - FL trips so I figured it was time to change the spark plugs and air filter - Parts I bought - 6 NGK Platinum Spark Plugs Item # TR55GP Stock # 3403 Gap: .054" First off, if you're attempting this, I'm assuming you're someone mechanically inclined or at least somewhat of a grease monkey - NO NEED for me to tell you how to change the first THREE spark plugs that stare at you when you pop-up your hood - These should be child play for you... if not, take your car to a shop and stop reading... (no offense)... The back ones are the fun ones to get to! Keep in mind you will need to move a lot of the wire harnesses around - you may have to cut a few tie-down clips or zip-ties to help you out. 1 - Remove the Air Box - Remove Air Filter - No need to dismantle the whole Unit into pieces... Loosen up the clip clamp at the Throttle Body and pull out the whole Unit - ** Disconnect the Sensors, Disconnect the Front Rubber Hose and the little valve underneath ** 2 - Loosen and remove the screws that hold down the manifold (6 total I think in the front) - There is a super long one all by itself in the middle - the others are at the edges ** Also, take your time to detach the Wire Harness/Hoses strapped to the Manifold (in the front) you can do this by removing the black electrical tape and replacing later when you're done ... 3 - There is one screw under the Throttle Body - remove it - it's kinda' hidden but you'll see it. 4 - There is another one on top of the manifold towards the back - it's hidden under the hood cowl ** Look on top of your engine towards the back - Locate two rubber hoses attached to the manifold - FYI - You will be working in a very TIGHT spot, but be patient and make sure you don't give up! ** 5 - Loosen/Detach Rubber Hose on the Left (Pass Side) attached to the Manifold (PCV Valve?) - Make sure you don't drop it - it connects the manifold to the Engine - it's a small "L-shaped" hose ** There is a tiny connector right below that valve, you cannot see it but you can feel it, it's easy to remove, just unplug it - AGAIN, it's a tight spot, but not impossible to work with. ** 6 - Loosen/Detach another Rubber Hose on the Right (Driver Side) and your manifold is ready to come off - Move it around, and pull it out... careful with the wire harnesses around and the other hoses that are sitting on top of the engine. Make sure you Disconnect the Mass Air Flow Sensor and Air Temperature Sensors!!! Once you pull out the Manifold - it is easy as cakes to replace your three other Spark Plugs - Follow the steps backwards and VOILA! - It is a LOT easier to do then all this jargon I've written - I may try to get pictures for those brave enough to attempt this - and in case you're wondering, my car feels a LOT better and smoother - granted... the Edge comes with Platinum Motorcraft Spark Plugs... I don't know about you, but I'll take NGKs over Motorcraft ANY day...
  7. That makes two of us - I'm looking for a factory Subwoofer assembly as well from the Edge audiophile system... BTW, could someone please post some pics of their factory subwoofer? If I can't find someone selling theirs, maybe I could have a better idea of how to fabricate something... BTW, if you're planning on adding that to your ride, you'll also have to consider replacing the passenger-side interior trim panel with the side pocket, I believe that's where the subwoofer cover goes... I've found it for a decent price here: http://www.parts.com/oemcatalog/index.cfm?...playCatalogid=0
  8. If you haven't installed them yet - YES - I have an SE and I installed fog lights in it and it looks stock now! Here's whatr you need... OEM-style Fog Lights with the Harness from www.Ebay.com Factory Chrome Covers from www.Parts.com Factory Stock Switch (optional) from www.Parts.com Check them out here: www.cardomain.com/id/fraychild
  9. Lee - I know this is a lil' late but do you still have the factory subwoofer/enclosure lying around? I'm interested in buying one - Let me know please!
  10. That makes two of us... If anyone has pictures of their factory subwoofer, I'd appreciate a picture as well - Thanks!
  11. That's a good suggestion and I thought about that too - The seats seem to be the same altogether - physically - ... But let me put things into perspective real quick... I live in NY - the Lincoln seats are in OH - The junkyard wants $700 + $255 to ship - I doubt it'd be cheaper to drive and pick them up - spending that kind of money to just remove the leather skin? - I'd rather go the Katzkin route... LOL I guess I'll keep checking on more local junkyards and if nothing turns up - Katzkin it is....
  12. He he he - I know about the Katzkin and of course I would've preferred having Edge leather seats - I wouldn't have to worry about the stitched "Lincoln" emblem on the headrests either - I'm asking because I know a place that has a set of MKX leather seats for sale for a fairly good price... I'd pick them up if I knew they were an easy fit - The vehicles are the same, so I expected them to have the same bolting pattern... I was more concerned with the connections part...
  13. Hello, Just wondering if anyone knew whether or not the MKX seats would fit in an Edge - Obviously I'm asking because I have an SE with cloth and would like to consider the possibilities of adding leather... My main compatibility concern lies in the connectors for the airbags, seatbelts etc - are they the same or different? (shapes/sizes/pin layouts) - Also, are they pre-wired for the seats in regards to the automatic funtions... etc. I'd really appreciate it if anyone had that answer - :stats: :hyper:
  14. Most definitely - I love my Edge, even with the heavy weight she's packing, there's plenty of power and torque to keep me moving on the road when I need to -:shades: Question, has anyone ever looked into leather seats from the MKX and the possible compatibilty with the Edge? I'm wondering if the connectors for airbags, seatbelts etc. are interchangeable or would "fit" each other... If anyone knows the answer to that, I'd really appreciate it!
  15. Actually this is the Carbon Metallic - another way of saying "charcoal grey" Installing the Fog Lights from Ebay was a piece of cake really... I did it myself for the most part. I bought the kit with the Harness... (I couldn't locate any factory harness on my SE and from what I gather here, they don't seem to have it, which sucks) - but oh well... I got them from a seller called "gummysource" --> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-Truck-...p4506.m20.l1116 If you're installing it yourself, you'll just need to remove a few screws and pull back the wheel-well covers and you'll have easy access to the back of the bumper - this will allow you to pop out the stock hole covers and everything else is candy from there.... Also, there is a huge grommet in the firewall through which a bunch of wire are making way from engine bay to cabin - I used that rubber grommet to run the harness/switch wires... I also plan on using that same grommet for my future amplifier install plans... Total was about $127 after shipping for the Ebay fog lights and harness only... I also purchased the two chrome hole covers from www.parts.com - about $30 each. They had them at a nicely discounted price for the Ford... I didn't really have to do that, I could've just cut the circles on the current covers and it would've worked just fine... but I kinda' like the chrome look of the front which matches the grille and headlights... I also took it a step further and purchased the stock switch from an SEL at parts.com - $22 - This switch allows for DRLs and the pull-knob motion for the factory fog lights... I took the truck to a shop and had them wire the Ebay harness into the stock switch so it would work like it came from the dealer that way... I spent the extra for stuff because of my taste... but the fog light install could've stopped at $127... I'll post more updated pics soon -
  16. I've been browsing for a little while but I finally decided to introduce myself and show off my new Ford Edge which I acquired about a month ago - The story - I was down on Vacation with my family visiting my sister in Alabama and hitting the parks in Orlando when I found a great deal on this 2007 SE in Pensacola - I hated the car I had... (it was a 2007 Dodge Caliber - total garbage) ... really though... I HATED the car. So I quickly ran to the dealership and traded it in for the Edge... Best decision I ever made in my life... Anyway, love the car and cannot wait to do a few more things to it... I have the pics listed here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3117239 So far, I've tinted the front windows at 35%, I've added the Ebay OEM Foglights using the factory chrome plates and factory fog switch, and I've added a Pioneer Avic-D2 Nav system - I have a few things in mind for it... such as 4300K Low Beam HIDs, H&R Springs, 19" Konig Heatsinks, sunroof, leather seats, new speakers and a sub, etc. Oh and yea... I drove her back to NY and enjoyed every second and every mile of the way...
  17. I can't speak for everyone else on these forums... and I certainly will not attempt to convince you otherwise akirby... but these are my two most common scenarios, 1- I usually drive with my wife and my 2 year old daughter in the car and often we wanna stop by the nearest store, restaurant, gas station, or shopping mall... it's a LOT easier for my wife to work the nav while I'm driving, rather than for me to pull over and have us fight over who can work the nav system better - Secondly, when I'm on my own and I need to get to different places at once, I'll play around with my nav and do what I have to do, without having to pull over the side of the road and risking being hit from behind as I attempt to get back on the road... I live in NY, worst yet, I drive a lot on the 495 Expressway which tends to be infested with Semi-trucks... you can do the math. Bottom line, you are entitled to your opinion... good for you if you are a safe driver.... but hey we can't stop the world right? I wish I could stop women from fixing their make-ups while driving 80 mph, I wish I could get every drunk driver and coke-head off the road, i wish I could get older/slower drivers off the fast lane - but guess what? life's a bizzatch ... and you just have to deal with it.
  18. Well, how about we all stick to the topic at hand - This thread wasn't originally built to discuss the advantages or disatvantages of bypassing/disabling the safety feature - So let's stay on track here and keep it informative shall we? From my experience, Aftermarket Navigations usually require that you ground the parking brake wire - for many Pioneer Units you can get that kind of information at www.AVIC411.com - But for Factory installed systems, since you don't always have a "parking brake wire" to work with, they usually rely on the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) wire to determine whether the car is in motion - You'll find this to be true in Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep cars. Also, in some others, such as the Toyotas/Scions, cutting the VSS wire from the stock harness will allow full control of the system while driving; in which case the navigation system of the vehicle is then guided solely by the GPS antenna... I can't express how much I mess around with my AVIC-D2 while driving, I would've hated the unit if I didn't bypass it... I'm not sure about the Ford Edge - but if anyone has that information, it would be greatly appreciated if it was shared -
