  1. So my introduction to the Edge came at the Washington Auto Show in DC and I fell in love with this car. When the big 25 approached last week, I said forget renting cars, I'm going to buy the car I've been ogling for nearly 6 months. I passed on the Mazda CX7 and closed a GREAT deal on a FWD Carbon Metallic SEL Plus, Med Light Stone with Vista Roof, Rear Sensor... everything but the Tow Package, Cargo System and Nav System.

The best part was the complete surprise on my girlfriend's face when she expected me to pick her up in my little Black 2000 Jetta GLS. The double-takes and remarks I received from family, friends and coworkers on Wednesday were priceless, but none of that was nearly as enjoying as the trip I took down to the beach the next night for a long beach weekend at the Outer Banks. One week (and 800+ miles) later I'm more than satisfied with my purchase. I wake up excited to sit in DC traffic.

The Edge is nothing like the family Ford cars I worked on with my dad growing up. This one has bite. And it's making 25 easy to swallow :shades:

(Will post pics some time soon)

Congratulations! It must be the thing to get when you hit the 5's.... :happy feet:

  2. Does anyone know when Ford will start putting on the NEW 18" chrome wheels? I just recently ordered an '07 with them on (order code #649). The dealer said his rep. told him that Ford will not have those wheels until sometime in July, with delivery in late Aug. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well unless Ford ran out of them they have been available. My Edge was built April 24th and delivered (and sold) on May 2nd and I have the new 6 spoke wheels. I know they were not available in Canada, but I see you are in PA (and I'm in Delaware) so you should be able to get them. By the way, they are sharp!

  3. So in other words, they both close or open at the same time..one swith with 2 positions...uhmmm....is it worth the additional $1700?.....how practical..or better yet how much fun?...thanks all for the help

Personally, I won't buy a vechicle that DOESN'T have a sunroof :yup: ! I love my BAMR and it gets me as close as I can to a convertible without "going all the way"! I do agree with the earlier remark about the shades though, Ford should have made these independent.

  4. Well... I guess each of are different - I see the reflections - but they don't bother me at all...

    OH well.. guess Im different

I'm with you Edgy....I see the reflections, somewhat, but not enough to bother me. Edgy and I both have the charcoal interior and were built around the same date (end of April). It really is not an issue for me either. :yup:

  5. I noticed it too, while moving the car back a little in the garage and trying to get it positioned in a particular spot. It's got a lot more 'play' in it than my other cars, that's for sure.

I cannot agree with a lot of the "complaints", but this I will agree with. It does seem to move more than it should. I almost never used my parking brake in my Expedition, but I feel that I NEED to use it with my Edge. Not a big deal, just need to adjust for it.

  6. OMG I am FINALLY in the MAJORITY! I was just saying the same to my wife. it has been rather warm here in the Burgh lately and I have to keep the AC on MAX number 4 all the time for the freakin vehicle to stay cool. As soon as you take a notch off, WARMS UP QUICK!

I hope this is a recall!

Rather cool here in Delaware......I haven't seen a problem at all with the A/C. I usually end up pushing it up to 70 or 71 because it's too cool. Are you all using the auto a/c or pushing it up manually? Auto a/c works great!

  7. I think they just add the right amount to the what I thought was a "dull" rear door.

    Ultra

    Ultra,

Looks good! I thought the same thing, it needed something. I liked this because it did what the lights on the MKX did....broke up the back end. Hopefully, I will get mine on soon and I'll be sure to post pictures.

    Thanks for the follow up!

    Sue

  8. Quite honestly some people just feel the need to whine! My liftgate is not as heavy as my Expeditions was. Opened and closed that one for 8 1/2 years and guess what....I'm still here and maybe my arms aren't as flabby as they may have been if I hadn't owned the truck.

Don't think of it as something to whine about, think of it as another way to workout!! :hysterical:

  9. No problems here! I have to agree with Edgy Girl....the roof is a must have, but then again I wouldn't own a vehicle if I couldn't open the roof one way or the other!!! :happy feet: It truly is amazingly quiet - I was at a red light the other day, roof open, windows down and some guy next to me was playing some pretty obnoxious music (and I had my own to listen to!) so I put the windows up (roof still open) and I could barely hear his "music"! I am very happy with my Edge, unfortunately I just heard from Ford Motor Company and they are forcing me to pay for it! The nerve! The payments are so much easier though when you are happy with your purchase! Your wife will be very happy with an Edge as her new ride!

  10. It was your Edge enthusiam.... no worries.. I have gotten caught up in it too.

I am impressed with number of new owners joining - thats sooo cool.

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!! I have seen several creme brulee's running around town and although I will stick with my Redfire, the Creme Brulee's do look nice.

  11. :hyper: Hello fellow Edge owners,

Ordered EDGE SEL in Blazing Copper with the following options; Vista Roof, Sirius Radio and Towing Package. The plan is this is our retirement car for trips and week ends.

    post-829-1180574629_thumb.jpg

I only have about 900 miles on it at this time but my opinion so far is this is the best car I have ever owned. I like to drive it so much that it is getting some weekday use also. Very comfortable ride, soft seats, excellant front vision, plenty of power when you need it and reasonable gas milage with normal use.

I have added bug shield (dealer installed) which really works keeping the bugs off the windshield. I have also added cover on rear bumper to help protect from scratching paint.

So far are only issue we have is the lack of a grab bar for the front passenger.

Overall we love this car. :hyper:

Congratulations! I'm right there with you....just under 600 miles and I am enjoying it more and more every day!

  12. Hello everyone,

I picked up my new Edge a week ago. An SEL + in Light Sage with Lt. Stone interior. The only option is the Vista Roof.

I dont find the glare to be an issue and the brakes, not as bad as some make out I think.

    Thanks

Congrats! Enjoy life on the Edge!

  13. My 2005 Expedition (Eddie Bauer) the radio mutes whenwe are backing up...and I tell you it sure is a "God sent" convinience it forces you to apay attention

Okay, I checked mine again (backing up against a garage door) and it does not :stop: mute my stereo. I had thought it did it slightly. I looked it up in the manual and it does not mention muting. So.....I guess it doesn't, seems odd......

  14. A gal in my office mentioned to me she was going to trade her Pilot for a Murano. I told her about the Edge and even had her drive mine. She said she loved it and everything seemed to make sense to her. Then her husband sumarily vetoed the Edge without even researching them or seeing one to my knowledge. His answer? 'Ford puts the water pump inside the engine block'. Whether that's true or not, it hardly seems like a reason to not buy a better product for less money........ Sounds like an excuse more than anything to me.

Go figure.....long, long, road for Ford.

I told my boyfriend about this post. He is a 30 year Ford Senior Master Technician and he said it is true that the Edge's water pump is inside the engine block. He also said that like most Ford's, that is where the water pump is located. He also said that for all of the years that he has been turning wrenches, he has hardly ever had an issue with the water pump and he has had an amazing number of vehicles go through his hands. Some people are just so against a product that there is no way to sway them. For instance, a guy that I work with asked me what I had ordered, when I told him he said "why would you buy another Ford when they are going to be out of business in 5 years"! :banghead: Maybe because my previous Ford was a wonderful vehicle that I never had a minute of trouble with and the guy that purchased it from me was just amazed at how good an 8 1/2 year old vehicle looked. I guess that's what happens when you actually take care of the items you own and take pride in your purchases. His vehicle, by the way, is a Honda that looks like crap and apparently has had all kinds of issues with! Go figure.......

  15. My wifes 2004 Explorer and my 2004 F150 both have/had reverse sensing. They both had the Audiophile stereo. When the reverse sensing started to beep, the radio would mute down to a much lower volume.

Our new 2007 Edge with reverse sensing and also having the Audiophile does NOT mute down the audio. So if your music is even remotely loud, you can't hear the reverse beeps.

Is this working as it should?

Mine mutes slightly, but nothing near what our F-150 does. Possibly a setting we need to change?

  16. they are not checked randomly, they should all be checked. thin paint is not acceptable

One thing that I did notice the other day when I was washing mine was that the door inner and outer were not sealed completely. For example, my passenger front door has a "pouch" for lack of a better word in the front corner where the inner and outer are not sealed at all. I am afraid that water could sit in there and cause issues. Uglymugs, since you are seeing the doors on a regular basis is this the norm?

  17. Sheik,

I am in CS, but I am from Houston originally so I ordered mine from Helfman Ford in Houston. I was a little disappointed that there isn't a maron color, but I am hoping red will suffice.

I received mine on May 2nd....ordered on February 28th...what a wait! But well worth it! My issue, along with many others, was the navigation system but the shortage seems to be over. Aggie07 - I have the Redfire Sel + AWD and the color is absolutely beautiful. The metallic paint just sparkles. I think you will forget all about wanting a maroon one! Enjoy!

  18. Congrats on the new MKX.

What kind of options did you order? Was it an AWD or FWD?

I just ordered an MKX from my dealer, in Dune Pearl w/ a black interior and ALL the options, and hope to receive it before my next payment is due on my existing Aviator.

    Thanks in advance.

    Congrats and enjoy!

  19. I have some of these items on my Edge. I have a Carbon Metallic paint version and wanted to dress up the rear liftgate. So I got the trim for around the Ford logo and the lower door edge. They are really nice, adds just the right touch.

Have to say that you definately need to take your time when installing the items...also another company to look at is Quality Automotive Accessories at qaausa.com

I've had my Edge since May 2nd and the chrome pieces and body side molding since mid April, but I haven't had the opportunity to install them. Fear, I believe, is also a factor.....I would really hate to screw this up!!

Ultra96....I would love to see pictures!
