  1. It's been about a year since the steering wheel assembly was swapped from a new Edge Sport into our Edge Titanium. Fixed. No problems. No lights. The Edge runs and rolls like we had hoped. We are very happy now with our purchase. And I do love the adaptive steering... and the adaptive cruise control. I really like that on our trips to our son's home in Arizona. Between that and the lane keeping system, the car almost drives itself. And you get the best gas mileage when you use the adaptive cruise control. Anyway... after months of hassle... it did get fixed. And it appears the new vehicles coming off the line have the issue fixed. Happy driving everyone!
  2. Well, it's been over 6 weeks or 7 weeks since my Ford Dealership pulled the steering assembly from a brand new in stock Ford Edge Sport and put it into our 2016 Titanium Edge. The "Adaptive Steering Fault" issue appears solved. Again... the dealership did me a solid by pulling the steering assembly off a fresh off the truck $45,000 Edge that now, as far as I know, is still sitting in their back lot waiting for a replacement ordered for me. So, there is hope.
  3. Well, first, we special ordered our 2016 Edge Titanium from a Costco dealer back in December. So, it was one of the first off the line. With that said, I posted last week that the dealer couldn't get any delivery date on the steering part or parts needed to fix the Adaptive Steering Fault issue. So, they took a brand new Edge Sport off the line and pulled the steering wheel, et al off and put it in our Edge. We just got back from a trip to Las Vegas (LA to Vegas) and have put about 700 miles on the Edge since getting it back. NO PROBLEMS!!!! Apparently, the newer vehicles coming off the line don't have the problem. Anyway, there is hope. Now our Edge is back to the terrific car we purchased. It was a joy to drive to Las Vegas and back. So, good news to anyone still having the problem. It appears (gotta be optimistic) the problem can be fixed.
  4. Well, we got our Edge back. We were told that the "part" needed to be replaced is on back order.... with NO ship date. None. Nada... zilch. So, Norm Reeves Ford, did what I think a few others have mentioned having done, pulled the steering wheel off a new unit in stock and replaced the malfunctioning steering wheel and adaptive assembly with the new one into our Edge. So... so far, so good. My wife is so happy to have her Edge back. We both love it. And when the adaptive steering works, it's great. She couldn't get over how much tighter a turning radius the Edge has over the 2017 Fusion Hybrid loaner we had. As least that's her impression. Anyway, right now it appears fixed. Keeping our fingers crossed.
  5. Was told that the "steering assembly" will be replaced. Should have our Edge back by Friday. We will see.
  6. I have a hunch that Ford knows it has a problem but doesn't yet know how to fix it. My dealer has told be that they have to work with Ford on this since they don't exactly know what the problem is. The Customer Service people from Ford appear to stonewall. I have contacted them and my local rep for my dealership ignores my calls and emails. Her name is Chelsea Smith. Then again, it might have been pressure from her that got the dealership to give us a brand new Fusion Hybrid. So, while Ford might be doing something... they are having to start from scratch. Anyway... we are taking the Fusion to Las Vegas. Great mileage and all the mileage on their car.
  7. Well, our 2016 Edge Titanium is in the shop for who knows how long. They are telling me the problem is the "sensor". Of course, that wouldn't explain why the steering wheel is now off center. Anyway... after making enough noise, the dealership gave us a 2017 loaded Ford Fusion Hybrid with 400 miles on it to keep till they can fix the problem. It's not our Edge... because other than the Adaptive Steering Fault problem, we love it. Hope to have it back by New Years.
  8. Just took our Edge back into the dealership. The warning light is now staying on and I notice the steering wheel has moved a tad to the left while going straight. I'm now at 5500 miles. I also filed a complaint, as was suggested, to the NHTSA. This might be nothing more than a software issue. Then again... it could be something very serious. What is really irritating is that Ford doesn't make a care available when you have an obvious design problem on a brand new car.
  9. I purchased a 2016 Ford Edge Titanium with all the options. I also have been plagued recently with the "Adaptive Steering Fault" warning. It comes and goes. Doesn't seem to alter how the Edge drives. I took it to the dealer the first time it came on. But as others have noted, the light was off when they looked at it. The dealer said they couldn't "replicate" the problem, ergo... no problem. About a week later it popped on again. This time my wife snapped a picture of it. This time they kept the Edge. For 13 days! Said they were waiting for Ford to get back to them with the issue... and how to address it. Picked it up, out money for a rental (they picked up half - still fighting that) and within a couple of days it happened again. And later again. I have contacted Ford and they assigned a Customer Service Manager to deal with this. They contacted me... I didn't hear back. replied to the email with pictures and so far haven't heard a thing. Bottom line? I don't think Ford has a clue why the warning light comes on. A ghost in the machine.
