  1. Edge is still in the shop. I've had a loaner since last weekend as was told, "don't call us, we'll call you." No word yet. I believe last November they swapped out my steering wheel since it seemed different and the signals didn't work properly after the replacement (wouldn't turn off on their own), but per my previous post the dealer wasn't forthright about the replacement. They just simply told me that they did more software reset/reprogramming, but I shared the codes that were printed on my receipt with this forum and others concluded that they were the "replace steering wheel" codes. Needless to say, the guy I dealt with a the dealership is no longer there and no one spoke kindly about him, so I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't telling me the truth. So I suspect they swapped out my steering wheel without telling me. Worked fine for a couple of months before the light came back on this past January. And then the horrific scare about a week ago (mentioned above) - ugh. Since they already replaced the steering wheel (I presume) what else can they do...? Replace the clock spring? We're now looking into buyback options and our rights under the CA Lemon Law. They have one more chance to rectify this issue!
  2. Hi all- It's been awhile since I last posted (early Nov. 2016; tread #113 & 115 - and some before in Oct). Well I'm sorry to report that I'm have trouble AGAIN with my adaptive steering since the steering wheel replacement last Nov. I had the fault light come a couple times this year so far and they turned off fairly quickly, but this past Saturday the fault light came on and the steering wheel recalibrated 90 degrees (like others have reported)!! So basically the wheel was turned all the way to the right, yet the car was going straight! Scared me out of my mind. Got home safely and jumped back on this thread, and I read about it possibly recalibrating itself the next day, and sure enough on Sunday it did just that! Turned my Edge on and it recalibrated and the fault light turned off. I was going to take it to the dealer anyway (although they had said to only bring it in if the fault light was on and to NOT turn the car off), and ended up doing so today when the blasted fault light came on again! I nearly flipped my lid. Went straight back to the dealer and this time they gave me a loaner, but they seem perplexed about the situation (the guy I dealt with previously is no longer at the dealership) which doesn't make me feel hopeful, but hopefully the Ford Hotline has more info for them by now. They also mentioned that I might want to look into a buyback which is so unbelievable since this was the replacement vehicle for my diesel VW which was recently bought back!! Un-be-lievable!!!! So what has been the best fix so far for those with this issue? Complete steering wheel replacement or clock spring replacement? I really don't know what else to do...
  3. Thank you jmr061. I'm now convinced they swapped out the steering wheel without telling me, but why...?? The good news is all seems fine at the moment.
  4. And by the way, the codes stated on my last receipt are: CB100:87-08-SECM, CB100:82-08-SECM and U0121:00-08-SECM - are any of these the "replace steering wheel" code?? According to jmr061's post, DTC C1B00 is the code. Mine seem somewhat similar; somewhat different, so I have no clue? Does anyone know? Thanks!
  5. Hi all, Got my Edge back from the dealer yesterday after a second visit within a week, and all is ok so far, but here's the weird thing: I think they may have swapped out the steering wheel without telling me. I say this because there used to be a small plastic thread poking out from the steering wheel seam. Immediately after we bought it I noticed it and thought, shoot, that's annoying because it's where I place my hands. Well, that thread is now gone! It was really small and sharp so it was noticeable, and there was no way to snip it. Am I crazy? Would they do this without telling me and why? To avoid liability or word getting out? At this point they only told me they "reprogrammed" the system and if the light comes back on I may need a new clock spring. Been driving it for a day, and so far, so good. No light. But I'm so perplexed...
  6. CapeDave, I just got a call from the dealer (my Edge is still in the shop)...they did some "reprogramming" and are going to test drive and release it back to me today. IF the fault light comes back on they said I may need a new clock spring. I'm worried about this as it sounds like that didn't correct your problem...? How is your car today? Light still off? Can you drive in sport and regular mode? Are you hearing/feeling anything in the steering column? Thanks.
  7. Hi all, Well, my new Edge went into the dealer last Wed. Finally got it back on Saturday and they had no clue what caused the fault light to come on. By the time I took it to the dealer the light had turned off. All they could do was reset the system and give me the car back. They told me to come right back if/when the light comes on again and sure enough that happened today (Tuesday)!! Again, a few techs looked at it and they had never seen that message before, but they promised to call the Ford Hotline in Detroit tomorrow and hopefully they'll have answers...? Can't say I feel hopeful since this is new technology and no one seems to know how to fix this. I'm so depressed, and car-less with two kids! So is everyone certain it's a harness issue with the steering wheel - and that piece has been back ordered until late Nov? I'm relaying info from this forum to the dealer since they have no clue. Any update on what actually may be the issue is much appreciated. Thanks!
  8. Hi all, My adaptive steering fault light came on this AM and I'm feeling sick ---we've only had our 2016 Ford Edge Sport for 1 month. To make matters worse, this was our replacement car for our diesel VW--ughhhh... So my questions to those who have dealt with this issue so far is: -Did the steering wheel need to be replaced or is this just a computer glitch? -how long did the repair take (sounds like a long time for some)? -did your warranty cover it? We do not have an extended warranty - just the basic - but the car has less than 2,000 miles -is it safe to drive, at least for the next two days. I transport my kids in this car and I want to be sure it's safe. Thank you!!
