You can find the directions on Ford.com I have a 2008, the directions say 2007 but they worked just fine. Not the best walk through but the pictures might help.

Red power wire route under drivers door kick panel
Red power wire route under passenger door kick panel. There is a wire protector to run the wire through. You will see the harness allready running through.
Cutt the tape on the factory harness. gray wire with brown stripe connects to the yellow wire from the relay box. I cut the harness and the soldered and covered with a shrink sleeve.
Picture of drivers side shrink sleeves completed. Follow the directions and you should be fine.

Wire harness completed with new tape wrapped around.
trailer relay box in final location. It has a pre attacthed adhesive (peel and stick).

Completed fuse link (red wire) attached at fuse box under the hood
I have seen on many of the hitch harness posts people talking about having to run a power wire all the way to the front of the car. Wouldn't it be much easier just to tap power off of the 12V power point in the cargo area? If the car is on this would have power and it should have sufficient fuseing to handle the load of trailer lights.

Sorry, I did not make myself clear. The dealer threw in the Class II hitch and wiring kit from the Lincoln Accessories web site. I will be installing it myself. I will not have the upgraded battery, oil cooler, larger radiator and fans. My towing capacity will be limited, as stated in the owner's manual. No problem for what I will be towing.
The hitch and wiring kit arrived Friday with no instructions. There was a reference to a dealer-only web site for installation instructions on the wiring box. The parts man printed those out for me. Problem: He ordered the correct wiring kit, but had only ordered the replacement bumper/hitch unit rather than the hitch kit. He claimed it was correct, but the part number said otherwise. The salesperson took care of the problem and the hitch kit has been ordered. It includes the bumper/hitch and appropriate fasteners/hardware.
The wiring kit is spliced into the wiring harness at several places inside the cargo area. There is one power wire which must be run to the main electrical distribution box in the engine compartment.

yeah, the t-connectors have been talked about before here in other hitch threads. just note, you still have to run a power wire up to the battery to power the brains of the unit.. and it is not a 10 minute install (contrary to claims on that site), not even close.

Ok folks. A change of pace from blind spot mirrors, horrible smells, etc.
Check this out:

I can see the final scene now: back seats are down, Bond and Pussy Galore wrapped in a silk sleeping bag drinking champagne, the camera pans out above as we see the couple through the Vista sunroof, and the live happily ever after.

Thanks Lex. I checked out your bumper saver pic and I really don't think it is any thicker than the one I have. I will try and take a profile photo and post it. Yours is a little longer, but the one I bought does cover the entire width of the actual back opening, so I should be covered. I do think I like the look of the longer one better though.
Here is the profile view of the bumper saver / protectors that are being sold on ebay currently.

not bad... still looks kind of thin like the Ford ones are? To bad the ALS savers are not available anymore, those were a bit longer (so more coverage) and definitely thicker and more stout (click my gallery to see mine).
"Let me ask.. why do people black out the license plate on pictures? I mean, don't hundreds of people see your plate on the road when you drive? I've always been curious to that.."
anonymity - something that is hard to get anymore. those "hundreds of people" do not know you, but the moment they can tie you to a post on the web, they know more. also, if you posted a plate, people could track that back to you and know more about you like "hey, there is that chick I always see posting on the Ford board" - and who wants that? you are an online reseller, so less of a reason to think twice about it, but heck, for that matter, why do 99% of all of us use bogus pseudo names and such? anonymity, simply anonymity.

view my gallery.. several photos.
I love mine. very stout. plenty coverage for me, and I am at beach often with sand and wet, heavy duty, good lips so no drain off onto floor.
Thanks Lex. I have been using regualr walmart mats. They work just fine, but aren't quite wide enough.
It looks like the going rate for the factory mats is $70 plus s&h. I haven't checked with my Ford dealer yet.

Can someone post photos of Factory All Weather Floor mats installed? I am considering getting them and would especially like to see how well they cover the from floors. I searched the forum and could only find photos of Weather Tech and Husky floor mats.
Thanks!

I bought one of the rear bumper protectors from ebay. It installed very easily with three rows of 3M tape. It is thick enough rubber to truly protect the bumper during loading/unloading. I believe the Ford protector is just a thin sticker. The contour of the protector matched the curve of the bumper perfectly.
Description= FORD EDGE / MKX BUMPER COVER MOLDING 2007-2008 PREVENTS BUMPER SCRATCHES - Seller= tcmalcom. Price=$44.45 (including shipping).
I have attached four photos of the install and one scan of the install directions.
GO YELLOWJACKETS!!
TO HELL WITH THE UGA DAWGS!

Thanks very much for the photos. Thanks to every one else for there information. This has allowed me to shut down the salesman when he first tried to tell me that maybe they didn't come with any, and also when he tried to tell me that it was basically the same material that you line shelves with. I think he was actually trying to get me to go make my own instead of him having to handle it.
I can now forward these photos and ask to speak to the manager to get this handled.
Thanks again fellow Edgees.

Hi gradywhite. :D They are black rubber "cups". About two inches high. They sit in the bottom of the console cup holders. In this way, if you spill anything or have condensation dripping off a cold drink container, most of it will sit in the insert. Then, you can just pull out the removable insert to wash it and clean it, instead of having to clean the bottom of the non-removable console cup holder.
They simply make clean up easier. They also probably provide a bit of cushioning/rattle prevention/sound insulation, so cans/bottles etc make less noise while driving.
Good luck. :beerchug:
I am still getting teh runaround from my dealer (JC Lewis Ford Savannah GA). I have almost 2000 miles on my car and I still don't have cup holders. They are saying that it is just simple flat pieces of rubber similar to the door handle inserts.
Would someone please take a couple of photos for me? One with the cup holders installed and one with them standing alone. I would greatly appreciate it. I can't believe that I have had to make multiple phone calls and multiple trips back to the dealer for somehting so small.
Thanks in advance.

Can someone tell me if the Cup Holder inserts are the same cheaper material as the door handle inserts, or are they more like the molded inserts that are found in front of the shifter and on top of the dash?

Well ... it's STILL up for sale!!! Seems no one is interested ....
Email me at kingfish254@hotmail.com and let me know what you are asking for it. It would need to be shipped to Savannah, GA.
-
don't fret - you are suppose to get them, for cup and door handles, so just ask for them and if somehow they are not in place, or not in the baggies, they cam get them for you free of charge (or just take a set off a car on the lot that has them). mine was missing 1 in the door and 1 of the cup ones was all disfigured and they just swapped them out right there and gave me the missing one from another car.
I have had my Edge for a couple of months now and I still have not received teh cup holdre inserts from my dealer. I have checked with my saleman three times with no luck. He keeps saying that his manager has not approved them yet. I sent an email the last time to document to problem. If I do not hear from him next week, I will go above his head. It is a shame that such a small item should tarnish an otherwise excellent sales and service relationship.

i do not have the BAMR......
I did some searching prior to posting ( i hate duplicate posts too) but didnt manage to find EXACTLY what I was looking for....
I don't see any way you could install the roof rails without removing your headliner. The cross rails are easy (as you can see from my post that SoCal referenced).
I think there are some posts on here where people were thinking about get the roof rails after that fact, but I don't remember any where anyone actually talked about installing them.
Good luck!

HI
me 2
my camel floor mats got dirty from the first day that i took the car
i'm searching for the weather tech but i didn't find it
also i've told the dealer and they said we dont know
DAMN my car will be so dirty inside if i didn't find it
I have the Med Lt Stone interior and I ended up going with black floor mats. I just don't think I would get a close enough match with gray or beige (which are about your only choices with mats). I really like the contrast and the black doesn't look out of place because most of the dash and side panels are already two tone.
I went with the WeatherTech cargo mat in the rear, but I decided to go generic with the floor mats ($20 Rubbermaid at WalMart and they look great!). The WeatherTech mats are a bit pricey. If you live in a snow area, I would probably go with WT, but you realy don't need the total coverage unless you plan on being in a lot of mud or slush.
Here is the site you want.

ahh... on my Limited I have the auto lift gate option and the subwoofer (with audiophile) so do not have these and never knew they existed.
BUT, I have a great solution for you to make them cool and usable.
Go to a motorcycle shop (or maybe even a car shop) and buy yourself some of those cool black elastic mini nets used to hold cargo down. Motorcycle would be best as it is smaller and smaller weave for this application. then, you cut that to appropriate size you want and drill little holes in the molded plastic panel that line up with the elastic, slide the elastic into it and tie a knot in it and put the panels back on. in the end, you would have a cool black elastic net that is stretchy and allows for taller and bigger objects to fit in those cubbies and the black net would look factory as the netting terminate in holes in the panel that are tied off behind the panel so you only see clean holes with elastic running into them. piece of cake project.
feel me?
Great description. I will post pics when I get around to doing this. Thanks.
It really was bad design on Ford's part the have the lips so low. They wouldve been better off just covering the pockets completely.

How do you figure I got it at no cost? I paid for the car didn't I? So I paid for the DVD. So I can't sell it?
So, by your logic it seems, everyone here trying to sell parts of their cars they have replaced or upgraded: wheels, tires, rims, subwoofers, enclosure, speakers, floor mats, stock head units, springs, .. should not sell them to recoup upgrade costs and or allow the next person to also win by getting an item they might want cheaper than buying it full price retail?
I don't get it , but thanks for chiming into my thread? <_<
That is the beauty of capitalism!
Now there are some people, and I won't mention any names (nobama), that think you should give others (nobiden) what you have worked hard for (noway).
I don't want to turn this into a political forum. I just couldn't resist. This post is done completely for fun and amusement only.
-
interesting... any photos of these things?
I have the SE trim level, so it may be that these are used for something else on SEL or Limited. See attached photos.
You can also see my new Weathertech black cargo mat against the Light Medium Stone interior. I went with black because I knew the other colors wouldn't match. I think the contrast works well.
-
that is exactly why I recommended a stubby for you. now that you plan to put stuff up there, others have commented about that looooooong antenna being a pita so a stubby might be a consideration.
I added the same 2.5" stub antenna that Lex did. See attached photos. I like the looks of it and it shouldn't get in the way of roof rack items. You can see that is is lower than the cross rails.
For big items I still simply remove the antenna. That is what I did this weekend when I hauled a mattress and headboard on my roof.

huh... what are "rear side pockets back in the cargo area"?
The driver side pocket is where the auto hatch lift option goes.
The passenger side pocket is where the factory subwoofer goes (I believe).
Allow myself in introduce myself...

Enjoy your new Edge. I installed the factory cross rails and posted the install at th elink below.

Pretty cheap and easy to do. If you plan on carrying anything on the roof, be sure to get the stubby antena that is also in my post.
This forum is great. You will find multiple postings regarding floor mats. I am waiting on some factory rubber mats I bought off of ebay. Many people like WeatherTech or Husky. I have the Weathertech cargo mat.
Have fun.
