  1. Welcome to th eclub. Tomorrow makes the end of my first full week of driving my Edge. I love it. I volunteered to drive to lunch each day. My buddies were impressed with the rear seats and leg room. Of course everyone thinks the Sync is way cool. I had originally thought that the Edge was smaller than my old grand cherokee, but I parked teh Edge next to my buddies GC and they are about the same size. Of course the Edge looks much better. You will enjoy this forum. It is full of a lot of great info.

  2. My 2008 Edge has the factory roof rails and I am thinking about ordering the Ford cross rails to allow more flexibility to th eroof rack.

Does anyone have the ford cross rails installed? Can you post a photo. I haven't found any on the site.

I am curious how they look in relation to the overall appearance and styling.

  3. This was my first full weekend with my new Edge. I had read a post somewhere that someone bought a vinyl picnic tablecloth to use in the back whenever they hauled anything. I followed their advice. I bought the kind that is vinyl on one side and felt on the back side. I even found one that matched the Med Lt Stone interior for only $7 at Walmart. I bought a queen size rice bed at auction today and the table cloth (60"x100") worked great in the back with the rails and posts. I strapped the headboard to the roof rails. The tablecloth also fold up pretty small and fits easily in the spare tire area.

I plan to get the WeatherTech cargo liner, but you need more protection than that if you are hauling long items with the seats down.

I started to get the WeatherTech floor mats, but opted for some $20 rubbermaid ones from Target. They look and fit just as good as the WeatherTech for a fraction of the costs. I don't need the extreme liners since we never get snow down here in Savannah.

I have the Medium Light Stone interior and went with black floor mats. The contrast works well with the two tone interior. I saw somene selling their new factory carpet mats on ebay. I believe I will do the same.

I also posted a few new pics of my Savannah Edge in my gallery.

  4. Part II Weathertech Floor Liners

Great photos! Today was my first full day of enjoying my Edge and I immediately noticed how the Medium Light Stone carpet mats where showing dirt. Wish I had the Charcoal. I will surely get the WTech mats now. They look great and I don't have to worry about snow melt here in Savannah.

  5. First new car ever being picked up tomorrow, '08 SEL black on Black in Toronto. Moving from a 2001 Aztek. From bridesmaid to bride in a weekend.

We've been looking at the Edge for the last year. Test drove a bunch of other stuff throughout (patriot, rogue, escape, cx-7, vue, journey, CR-V, Liberty, Nitro, Rav-4, RJ, jeez, I didn't realize it was that many) the year. Bought the Aztek 3 years ago as a GM certified, thankfully got the extended warranty. $20,000 GM dollars later the warranty just ran out. We were nervous about driving it any longer (especially since the tranny was begining to act up) but thought one more year might do the trick. My damn parents had to go buy an Edge limited last Wednesday though and one quick drive around town in that sealed the deal for us.

Whew, lots of rambling. Anyways, good bye GM, hello Ford, hello my new love. Gotta love how much stuff the Edge comes standard with, it's what really pulled us to it. The one thing I would have liked to get from the limited was the upgraded stereo but for someone not an optional purchase on the SEL. The unit we got had roof rails, floor mats ($90, really?) and the reverse sensor which I'm curious to try out. It's a feature I wouldn't have factory ordered but should come in handy during the winter months as I back into the garage.

One thing I couldn't figure out throughout this process, how can Jeep sell anything when their lease rates are double everyone else, import or domestic. 6.9% on a patriot? good god.

Anyways, glad to be here as an owner after a year of trolling in the background wishing/wanting. From the looks of the number of Edge's I see on the road I'm going to have a lot more company out there then I did with the Aztek,

Great choice. I also test drtove about every SUV and CUV out there. I don't mean to rag on your old ride, but an AZTEK?????? Just picking on you. Hell I drove my Jeep Grand Cherokee for 15 years, so it had seen better days when I traded it in. Have fun living on teh EDGE.

  6. Hello all, I have just purchased a 2008 Edge. I want to thank this forum for helping me with my decision. There is a lot of great info here. I have had a Jeep Grand Cherokee for 15 years (153K miles), so I was due for a new car. I still needed the "U" of a xUV, but wanted something less like a truck. The Edge was perfect. My wife loved it, especially compared to the street rod I almost bought on ebay (1948 Suburban put on a 2000 Silverado chassis).

I went with an SE since the luxury options are wasted on me. I still got SYNC, SIRIUS, Convenience, and Roof Rails. The color is Vapor Silver with Stone cloth. I wanted the Cargo Mgmt and Trailer Hitch, but I am not paying the Ford Aftermarket price for those options. I plan to create my own Cargo Mgmt and will provide pics when I figure it out. Tomorrow I will have fun using the SYNC with my ZEN MP3 and my ATT Tilt phone. Before taxes and after rebates I got my 2008 for $23,060. I think I did pretty well. I loved it when I pulled up to the Lexus CUV knowing that they paid more than double my price.

Attached is the only photo I have taken so far. We live in an 1873 row house in the Historic District in Savannah. My wife wonders why I keep standing at the second floor window. This is my view right now.
