where did you score the tray?

www.fordautopartsonline.com seems to be the cheapest at $36.13 I think it includes the coin holder. The online Ford parts sites call it a console panel.

cool, did you have to do anything to the MKX tray to get it to fit in the console? The one in my step mom's had a extra lever that sticks out, I haven't looked at any newer ones to see if they look different, she has a 07.

Under the front lip and on the side their is some plastic that has to be cut or filed away. The only thing that is wrong is the location of the notch, the notch in the tray does not match up to the notch in the console of the Edge. But you can't tell when the lid is closed. I also used the chrome catch from the MKX lid, the chrome goes with the rest of the chrome on the console. Why Ford would use two different designs for the console is anybodies quess.

I changed out the lid to because I liked the leather look and the padded feel, I also changed out the plastic tray from the MKX because it is larger and holds more. Ford should have done this with the Edge.

try to search derivations of "Door Sill Plates" or part numbers and you get 0 results. try to use that crummy drill down expanding tree navigation... good luck. hard too even determine what "category" these go in. try front door > interior trim > door trim panel... 0

 

heck, maybe they just removed them, or I am being a tard, but even if so, they make it hard to find stuff and many of the ford auto places use that same navi structure.

I'm in the Auto business and get deep discounts (usually at dealer cost) however Accessories are priced differently then replacement parts.

 

These illuminated trim panels are identical to the OE's with the addition of fiber optic's.

 

 

Will post invoice part number for the black scuff panels later in the week if still necessary.

If anyone knows about illuminated kick plates or sill protectors that are for the Edge, would you please post the information? I saw these on the new Murano and they looked great. Illuminate in red when the door opens. I think Hyundai also has something similar for the Veracruz. These really look great at night.

I just installed the illuminated sill plate kit on our 2008 Ford Edge today. They replace the stock sill plates. The thing I did not like was that when you remove the sill plates from the vehicle their are two tabs that break off so you can't reuse them if you want to change them back. I think this was a design ford did, it even shows a picture of a trash can in the instructions so they know you can't reuse them. It's a nice upgrade a little pricey though, about $150 and wires into the door light wiring so when you open the doors they illuminate.

try to find a used cluster....unscrew the cluster and remove (carefully) the plastic gauge-plate. Then replace in your original cluster. I did this because I didnt like the black faces and found a used sel cluster. With a little care and common sense (patience), it was actually a fairly simple switch.

I remember reading a post about the BAMR control panel having built-in lighting, but on the ford edge, they are strangly not hooked up, The lincoln version is.

 

Can you let a fellow '08 AWD Limited owner know if its worthwhile wiring them up and how to do it?

Its easy to get distracted looking for the right buttons at night.

 

Other then that, love my car, and getting 22 MPG combined (5500 miles on it).

Yes they can light up and it does make a difference. I ran one wire to ground and the other down to the connector below the steering column to the violet/grey wire, others have gone to headlight switch. I have two pigtails with the correct connectors for the BAMR switch that I could send you if you want them.

any other tips on your install... how you actually pulled them off with finesse, what tool, what angle?

I used a small long flat screwdriver and bent back on the four top tabs that hold the mirror glass to the motor mount, then pryed up on the motor mount tab as tpm419419 showed in the picture he posted and it popped right off, the hardest part is to get the new mirrors to snap on. I redownloaded the pictures, hope the come out better.

glad to hear it your installation went well. I was curious about the metal tabs fitting the new ones as well. Mine didn't come with any

They just slide in.

I just installed the mirrors, took about 30 minutes, the passenger side did not come with the metal tabs so I had to use the ones I took off the vehicle, and they are not auto dimming, so their is no way to hook it up. The only hard part I found was getting the new mirrors to snap in.

On our 2008 Edge limited, the green connector behind the drivers side windshield pillar moulding has the wires that run from the interior mirror but the wires don't come out the other side. I don't know if their would be anyway to run the wires from that connector to the door mirror. Their doesn't seem to be enough room to reach the connector that runs from the vehicle to the door harness.

The mirror glass should arrive on Tuesday.

I was wondering if anyone has a 2008 Ford Edge with memory power mirrors, and if the drivers side exterior mirror auto dims like the interior mirror. According to the the workshop manual and wiring diagram manual if the Edge has memory mirrors it should have this feature. The workshop manual says "if equiped with a LH exterior auto-dimming mirror, and the auto-dimming feature is activated". I would like to know how to activate this feature since our mirror does not auto-dim. The wiring diagram manual shows what wires go from the interior auto dimming mirror to the LH exterior mirror, and I checked our Edge and it has these wires. I included pictures of the wiring diagram. The bottom of the exterior mirror shows a BN wire and a BU-GY wire that goes from the exteior mirror to the interior auto-dimming mirror. I emailed ford but haven't received a reply.

You can go right to the ford site, at the top of the site their is a link for owners then when that page opens and says ownership click on the first link that says "Ford Owners" an new page will open, on the left side it says visit genuine parts and service click it a new page opens. Our 2008 Edge Limited with 3100 miles started to have this problem. The digital display will display "check brake system" and the low tire presure, high beam, stability control, door ajar, brake warning lights illuminate. Then their are no interior signal or hazard lights and the nav radio will shut off. The dealer said that their was a glitch in the computer sytems and they reset it. It lasted a couple of days and it started to happen again. This happens for a couple of seconds and then it must reset itself because the lights go out and the radio turns back on. We will be taking it back to the dealer on Friday the 3rd to see if they can figure out what the problem is. Hopefully they will fix it this time.
