  1. Thanks for the responses! I'm not the only one!!!! Actually, I'm glad you brought up Zaino products. I use them exclusively if I can. Waxes and detailing sprays are just the best and the depth of shine is nothing short of awesome. Made my blazing copper edge look like a burnished orange leaf with a mirror gloss. Got the thumbs up from a couple of motorcyclists this weekend. With the gloss and rims, I don't think they would have given the car a second look. BP
  2. I noticed that the headrests on the front seats of my Edge tilt forward and are not adjustable in terms of how they tilt. I feel that these were either designed very badly, or that the dealer installed them backwards. Does anybody have them tilting forward? If so, did you pull them and turn them around? Leaning forward headrests just seems wrong to me. Any thoughts or any suggestions? Anyone replaced theirs? Thanks! BP
  3. I too have issues with the sync of my Blackberry 8830 with Sync (no pun intentded). I've searched some forums and found that the solution for the 8830 is to completely reboot (pull the battery if necessary) to get a reboot to occur. Even after doing this, getting the phone to pair with the Sync Bluetooth is difficult. Before my Edge, I had a 2004 Toyota Prius. The bluetooth in that thing would pair with the phone even when the phone was in the kitchen and the car was in the garage! The Sync bluetooth is not copacetic with most Blackberrys from what I understand. Those of us that would like to use our phone consistently hands-free with Sync should complain long and loud. It won't be until they know the true extent of the user base that they will be concerned about fixing the firm-ware in the Sync bluetooth system. BP
  4. Hey Folks. I found the earlier post about a Nav screen protector, but the eBay link led to a deleted post. Thus I'm posting the question again. I haven't been able to find a protector that was meant for the Edge/MKX Nav system. Anyone know of a decent, finger print resistant, nav screen protection sheet? If yes, do you know where one can be purchased? Thanks BP
  5. Thanks for the responses! I had to laugh at the Holiday Inn Express deal! I loved those commercials - especially the one with the bear! Maybe it is just my imagination, but you wouldn't believe the crud that gets on the vehicle before it gets to your garage. If you've never used a clay bar on your car, try it. You will not believe the difference. Even on old cars, it can make a huge difference. Without the clay bar, you can run your hand across what you believe is a clean car and still feel little bumps of stuff stuck in or on the clear coat. Once you clay bar the surface, run your hand across the paint and it will feel as slick as your clean windshield! What the clay bar did was pull out or off all of the contaminants the washing did not. To me, it is a world of difference. Enjoy driving your Edge/MKX everyone! BP
  6. Hey folks: I took delivery of my Edge this past Saturday and have only driven the vehicle home. My first move was to wash all paint treatments off of the vehicle, including treatments to the tires and windows. Next I have used a clay bar on all painted surfaces to get rid of rail dust and other paint contaminants. The chrome rims needed the clay bar badly. Next I'm going seal the paint with Zaino Brothers products to ensure there is actually something on the paint that will resist acid rain and all of the other crap that assaults the paint on a day to day basis. Lastly the interior will get the same TLC. Then and only then will I start using my Edge as my means of transport. Did or does anyone else do this when they bring home a new car? Why would someone do this? Well, I can now tell you where there are blemishes in the paint. I can tell you which wheel is warping and should be replaced (after only 6 miles of driving). I can also tell where on the vehicle I need to be watching for faster than normal rust development. Lastly, I'll know about how long I'll be able to go without sealing and waxing the paint again. Basically, I'll know the outside of my car better than anyone else. If you don't do this much work when you first get the car, when do you give your new car it's first really good cleaning? Thanks! BP
  7. I don't see anything on your list that I have had a problem with, but I now use Zaino Brothers products and I have for the last several years. You just can't beat the quality and depth of shine. They can be found at www.zainostore.com (No, I don't work for them nor do I subcontract with them - I just like their products and I think they work better) I just picked up my Blazing Copper Edge last Saturday and it is sitting in the garage right now about 70% complete clay barring the surface. The car will stay there until I can get my next shipment of Zaino Brothers stuff to seal and then waz the car. Then I'm looking to add a clear bra to all the front facing surfaces and the hood. Then I'll finally be able to take my blazing copper baby for a ride. BP
  8. Solas and all: I have the same condition with my Blazing Copper Edge. There are spots where, while I was clay-barring my Edge, I noticed little spots that wouldn't clay bar out. I then noticed all of these spots were little, black specks that were on the vehicle prior to the time the clear coat was applied. This sure doesn't speak well for the quality inspections they are supposed to do, nor does it speak well for the cleanliness of their paint line. The folks at Ford need to wake up! This is why Toyota and Honda are making such strides. Did your dealership fix the places on your Blazing Copper Edge? If so, how long were you without a ride? Are you satisfied with the results? Thanks BP
  9. Well, shucks! My first post to something other than the welcome area and it is a negative one. Crud! I too found some "wobbliness" along the permiter of the rims last night while clay barring the rims. The first one isn't too bad, but I'm not one to settle for less than pefect results when the goods cost more than $1000. Has anybody found a good way to get Ford to replace each defective rim with a perfect one on the first try? If so, please enlighten all of us on how you did it. Thanks! BP
  10. Thanks for the response RKL! I'm pretty sure I'm going to have it applied, but I have to find a dependable installer here in Indianapolis - that's the difficult part. I've looked across the net to find someone saying something like "I had mine done by (insert person or business name here) and they did a super job1" but I can't find a hit relatively close. I'd hate to settle for Ziebart if there is a smaller group that does the job better. If someone out there is an Indy person that found a good installer of clear bras, PLEASE let me know! Lastly, how do you care for the bra? Wax normally? Did you use paint sealant on it? How do you get it to shine?? Again, thanks for the response and for the feedback! BP
  11. Hey Folks! Just wanted to say hello and mention how I'm looking forward to hearing all about every one else's Edge experiences. I'm also interested in executing the lighting mod for the skyroof buttons soon. Hopefully I can do it without too much risk of losing the board or zapping myself. Yes, you read the topic right. I traded in my 2004 Driftwood Pearl Prius for the Edge. After 75000 miles, I'm ready to have room and more comfortable car again. (though the Prius wasn't bad - I used the snot out of the Nav system and it did save me a ton on gas - yes, I know I'll get much less in the Edge - its a cost I'm willing to pay) Just took posession of an '08 Blazing Copper Edge on Saturday and am waiting to really drive it until I can get a clear bra put on the vehicle. I know there are folks that think this is a waste of $$$$, but I'd rather save the time of having to repair rock chips or of having to drop off the vehicle at a body shop to have the hood repainted. Let me know your opinions on the product(s) if you have used a version of a clear bra or just let me know your opionion if you feel like it. Looking forward to conversing with you folks and to contributing to topics I feel I can be a help on. Regards, Bad Penny
