  1. Those are just the OEM Gen II Ford Edge front splash guards. As you may already know, they don't yet make rear splash guards to fit the rear bodywork the Edge Sport trim. To be honest, I am pretty disappointed with how the front ones fit. Its not terrible, but could be way better. Someone posted close-ups of the way the front ones look, I think on a forum topic about splash guards specifically if you want to see for yourself.

Thanks, I was hoping you found custom fit ones. I was thinking about replacing the trim with non-Sport trim...any thoughts on that?

  2. I've been reading this thread with interest, bummer about the bolts. I was trying to think of other vehicles that might have longer cam bolts. I guess the liability is the bolt might break if they just weld a cam onto a longer bolt.

BTW, I monitored my transmission temp using obdii mx wifi and iPhone. It went to 210! that seems high to me. I was driving up and down a tight mountain road where lots of acceleration and de-acceleration, top speed about 40mph. I think I need to double check the configuration.

EDIT: the PID used I believe to be wrong...But now I have found at least 3 PID for tranny temp...so not sure which is the correct one

  3.

:yahoo: Just picked up my Edge with H&R springs. Apart from being situated a litter lower to the ground, driving in a straight line definitely feels eerily similar to the stock suspension. It takes normal road conditions in stride and does not feel stiff or rough whatsoever. But as soon as I dip into a corner, the steering response is much more immediate and the body roll is non-existent. It feels so much better and I cant wait to take it to the canyons. Very happy so far, which was expected. Anyway, here are the before and after pics and ride height numbers:

Side note...it was nice to see that the springs leveled out the car to within 1/8" in the front and rear
There was a 1/4" difference in height from side to side with the stock springs.
After looking at the before and after pictures, the stock ride height just looks ridiculous in comparison
although, I think it does make the car's ass look bigger from behind now lol

Nice...whose front mud flaps to you put on?

  4. I too am old school and will change with true full synthetic. Mobile One or Castrol Edge (guess which one I used :-)

One reason is to change often is to help minimize the oil fouling on the valve train...not sure how real of a problem it is, but clean synthetic oil is supposed to help.

  5. I'm not on FB so....

But by modded, do you mean tuned? I'm tuned and I've never experienced wheel hop. If launched at the correct RPM, (2,000-2,200) I don't get so much as a peep from the stock Pirelli's. On summer tires I'd imagine I could bump up the launch RPM to around 2,300-2,500, maybe even a tad higher and not get wheel hop. Maybe I got a 'slow' model.

Yes by modded I meant LMS tuned. Have you recorded a quarter mile time? He also ups the octane by using race gas. I think his launches are around 1500.

  6. Oh hi,

In searching add to self program a third FOB, I found a lot of weird stuff...including two separate methods on the Ford site.

This page on Ford did not work:

    https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/vehicle-features/locks-and-security/how-to-program-your-intelligent-access-key.html

The owner manual page does work, but here's the rub. The manual tells you to wait 5 seconds between actions. I would just count 1001,1002, etc. Seems I count to slow. In fact if you read the section on how to find your factory combination to the door entry, it has the same basic procedure but says wait a couple of seconds.

After multiple failures I only waited a couple of seconds between steps and that worked!

    Hope that helps someone!

Oh I ordered my FOB of Amazon for 75.00 Now I need to get the real key cut!

  7. Hi,

I'm still investigating passive crossovers, I found one at 80 hz with 12 dB/octave roll-off. I'll probably order that but it will be a few weeks before I get to install it.

    Here are my measurements:

    60 -6.3 70 -7.5 80 -6.5 90 -6.5 100 -9 110 -10 120 -11 130 -14 140 -17 150 -18 160 -18 170 -19.6 180 -20.7 190 -22.5 200 -21.1 210 -21.4 220 -23 230 -26.8 240 -33 250 -37.4 260 -29.4 270 -27.7 280 -25 290 -25 300 -27

I does seem to do a 12db/octave roll-off but then gets a little weird as well. I also just realized that the lower door speakers are considered woofers hence their low end response. Ultimately I think additional Low pass on the Subwoofer and better door woofers might be the trick...we'll see. I think the front door woofers are contributing to the muddy bass.

Oh ya, it appears the subwoofer is 1.2 ohms...making it tricky to find a passive LPF, parts express has 80hz at 4 ohms but that would be bad.

    So I will keep searching.

  8. Hmmm. I did some frequency testing in my Sony 12 Speaker 2017 Edge Sport. My complaint is muddy bass. I discovered that there is a huge bleed over in the sub woofer, in that it is active all the way to 250hz ( it does drop in dB, and I have the data at home, but can't remember offhand)

Worse the door speakers are active below 70hz, which is bad at least for the OEM speakers

I disconnected the subwoofer and a lot of the muddyness went away. I almost was going to leave it disconnected, but then I was pushing the door speakers to hard. I am going to try a cheap fix and install an inline 70hz low pass filter on the sub and see how that sounds. This could be the poor man's fix.

  9. Oh hi,

So it seems that in the 2017 cycle, Ford changed the FOBs form factor where it is easier to access the actual key. I have a 2017 Edge with the previous style. I was thinking of getting a 3rd fob and going to try using the model. I can't believe there is an electrical difference, but thought I would see if anyone has used the newer FOB in an 2016-15 Edge?

Also these FOBs are really fat. What iF I used a magnetic "hide-a-key" to hide the physical and got a smaller slimmer FOB...has anyone found one?
