  1. Discovering the the 2014 is more reliable than the 2013 is encouraging as our used 2013 Edge with 50000 km has revealed several small but irritating and rather expensive issues. Not sure if we would ever consider another Ford: not just because of the issues but because a) the dealerships initially told us they hadn't heard of the issue I had, but then mentioned that the less expensive "fix" wasn't successful in their experience (?!), and the response by Ford Canada is less than dismal. Mind you, the local dealership had very friendly staff and they had no problem taking my money.
  2. Just discovered this "feature" while trying to camp and leaving the back hatch open to access the cooler...had to look up the various solutions and decided to pull Fuse #12. Solved the problem however getting the fuse back in was a bit of a problem, dropping it twice. I couldn't retrieve it the second time so now I have to run out and buy a few spares. After spending $600 for the "door Ajar" fix, now experiencing the "Shift into Park" nuisance prompt and having Ford Canada email me to tell me that someone would call within three days (a month ago), I highly doubt that we would EVER entertain buying another Ford product. As my wife so eloquently put it, "I just can't trust it since its something new every time" It's only 4 years old with 52000 km on it for Pete's sake.
  3. Follow-up: just prior to having the door switch replaced at $600 CDN, our alarm starting going off randomly while sitting unattended in supervised lots. Issue went away after replacing switch. Also, a Class Action lawsuit has been filed by McCune Wright Arevala regarding this issue.
  4. This issue has been reported in multiple forums elsewhere. It appears that the switch in the door is faulty, however many responses have suggested that because its a flaw in the design of the part, the replacement part may fail as well. Suggested fixes (if you're outside the warranty window) include using a sensor cleaner (a lot of it) in the sensor contact area but that made mine appear even more so. That being said, I have found that if you acknowledge the alarm by pressing "OK", then opening and re-closing the door, it seems to disappear (until next time). I used the sensor cleaner over a week ago and this fix seems to be working.
