  1. I have a 2020 Edge ST with the OEM tow package and I'm getting tired of the flimsy wiring connector that pushes in and pulls out of the flimsy metal bracket every time I hook up my trailer. Because of wear and some grit, I now have to get on my knees in order to hold the connector in place to put the trailer connector on or take it off and I'm hoping there is a better way. Knowing this vehicle, I'm sure Ford has some complicated and expensive connection to the blinkers and brake signals so I am looking for something I can mount thats more sturdy that will just plug into the existing female connector. I wouldnt have an issue splicing wires and removing just the connector head if I was sure that it would mess with anything Ford has going on but would rathe just have a passthrough. Even better, I would love to adapt it to something other than that 4 pin connector assuming I can get the corresponding adapter for the trailer 4 pin male cable. Something with a larger plug that turns and locks would seem to be more sensible but I know little about trailer connectors. I have done a quick search but cant seem to find any such pass through device. Any and all help is appreciated.
  2. I have an ST without the upgraded brake system. Not really having any issues but at around 65,000 miles, I assume my brakes may need a change. The questions I have are: 1. Is this a DYI thing? I have changed brakes on older Escapes and such but I read about rotors dragging if not done right with the piston and the e-brake so I wonder if its worth just letting Ford do it. 2. New rotors. Besides the sportier look which I do like but no one besides me would ever notice, is there a reason to change the rotors to a slotted/vented rotor? Reasons to keep the solid rotors? 3. Assuming I let Ford do the brake job, should I bring them the hardware (pads and/or rotors) or is standard Ford issue good enough? I was looking at the complete set, front/back rotors and pads from Powerstop but that set, the Z23 Evolution, is very hard to find in stock. Is Powerstop a good brand? Any others worth looking into? Just looking for advice on parts and service to get the best out of my brakes. Thanks
  3. Great! Thanks for the input.
  4. I have a 2020 Edge ST and I hit a rabbit doing about 70. Next thing I know, an alert popped up saying " Pre-Collision Assist Not Available Sensor Blocked" as well as no adaptive cruise control. Took it to Ford service and they said the bracket was broken behind the sensor plate on the lower grill and the sensor and camera were just sort of hanging there. Total to fix is $600 for the part and labor to pull the bumper, replace the bracket, put the bumper back on and calibrate. They said its about a 4-5 hour job. I dont really mind since this was an accident and no fault of the car but does the cost seem reasonable for the work and part involved? Asking other Ford mechanics... This is a super small Ford dealership in my hometown and I just want to make sure they arent trying to take me for a ride. Thx
  5. I have the performance sill on the drivers side but havent looked at the passengers.
  6. Yep, just the standard carpet mats. They fit like they are made for the vehicle, I am just surprised to see non branded mats in their sports model. I DO like those all weather mats.
  7. Just bought a new 2020 ST and the floor mats are plain black. They arent even branded with "Edge" much less "ST". Just want to make sure the dealer is giving me the mats thats supposed to come with the car. Anyone else with a new ST that has same/different mat? Now, the B&O audio with SYNC 3. I dont listen to music a ton but listen to audiobooks instead. They played beautifully in my 2011 Edge with a Sync 2 system but this new car wants to show all 21,000 mp3 on a single screen. No folders in sight that I can tell. Am I missing something? Thx
  8. I have a 2011 Ford Edge Limited and the original backup camera is dim, fuzzy and gets "blown out" when there's too much white in the picture. For instance, trying to back down my concrete driveway trying to use the camera is useless, it's just a big white blob on the screen. I thought it may by the old SYNC2 screen but it's not. I have recently switched our SYNC2 with SYNC3 and the capacitive touch screen. The difference is amazinfg and well worth it but it didnt do much for the camera. So I've decided to replace my OEM camera and while I have found the part number for the original cam, does anyone know if there's and OEM camera with active gridlines (ie, they move when the sterring wheel is turned) that will natively fit my Edge. I'm not sure where the cam gets the steering info from but I was hoping that the upgrade to SYNC3 may satisfy that. I am pretty sure the newer Edge's and/or Explorer have the active gridlines, I just dont know if one of those cameras will fit my Edge. Thanks in advance
  9. I started driving my wife's 2011 Edge. She never used the USB but I listen to MP3 Audiobooks exclusively. This car is driving me nuts. For one, it's super slow reading any drive over 16GB but I can deal with slow. Listed below are some of the quirky crazy things that have happened: 1. Started out with a 256GB flash drive formatted NTFS. This drive has all my books on it. The funny thing is, the car would read the back half of the drive. 2. Thinking it was either flash drive size or formatting, I put a single audiobook on a 64GB flash drive formatted NTFS and it played fine. 3. I tried a 32GB flash drive with 5 audiobooks on it formatted FAT32 and while it worked fine, the thing started back at book 1 chapter 1 every time I turned the car off and back on. WTH? 4. Thinking maybe something with the formatting, I used a 16GB drive with 4 audiobooks formatted NTFS just for the car to tell me it cant read the drive. I assume due to the NTFS formatting??? makes no sense. As you can see, I went from 256 to 64 to 32 to 16GB drives to increase the read speeds and that does help but I have no idea why this car can read a flash drive and pick up where is left off consistently. I also have instances where the audiobook sounds like a computer voice is reading them. You switch over to radio and give it a few minutes and that stops.???? I am hoping all this thing needs is a firmware update or a master reset I've read about.
