  1. Ok, went to the dealership and had my engine oil changed. I must admit that I was surprised that they recommend having the oil changed every 5K KLM (3000 miles) even though the manual recommends at 8K KLM for those using the Edge for towing, stop and go etc.... Their rational is changing the oil and keeping it clean is one of the best ways of extending the life of the engine. (Also helps make money for them). I went with the Ford synthetic blend oil. On the positive side the gas milage has seemed to improve. Currently at 11.5L/100KLM (20.5Miles per gallon) with 80% highway, 20% city. Not to shabby. The dealers recommendation regarding the chrome plastic 20" caps is to wait till either closer to the 36 month or 60K warranty period is about up and have them changed. The service manager informed me that "Ford" would do one cosmetic exhange under warranty. Best part is we are still enjoying our Edge and can't beleive how many of our friends say they are considering purchasing. I'll keep posting any changes, till next time. ps: still looking for snows, but have narrowed the seach down to NOKIA's
  2. I'm planning to put snow / winter tires on my 2008 AWD Edge Limited and rather than take a hit or miss approach would appreciate some input from any other Edge owners who may have some experience. I would really like to hear from owners in the Northern States and Canada. I spend alot of time on the road and conditions change rapidly,so my focus is on tires that are good in snow, slush, ice and don't make so much noise on dry road I'd need to plug my ears. The plan is put the tires on 18" rims (steel), make sure the tire preasure monitors can be installed and put them on all 4 corners of the Edge. I know my gas milage will probably suffer, ut the alternative of getting stuck or ending up in the ditch bothers me more.
  3. Apparently the 2009 Edge will be have optional 20" painted rims. I wonder if I could convince the dealer / Ford to sub those for the 20" chrome plastic rims that are getting more discoloured every day? I haven't heard back from the dealer / sales person yet in regards to my pictures and to be honest I didn't really expect a response as I indicated that I will be addressing this when I bring the Edge in for its first service in about 1000 KLM. Thats the only issue we've had up to now. I've also have to get some winter snow / ice tires. Anyone having some experience of putting winter tires on their Edge and if the tires did the job would be greatly appreciated. I have to travel in all kinds of weather, snow, slush, freezing rain etc.. for work and on the weekends we go skiing so having go traction is a must for us. Till later.
  4. Welll it looks like I'm another one of the happy Edge owners who liked the 20 inch rims even though he knew they can be a problem end up disappointed. The rims have started to change colour at the hub, there is now a brass / blue colouring appearing in the chrome and I have just under 2500KLM (1550 miles) on the Edge. I took some pictures of the discolouring and will be forwarding to the dealer just so it is documented. I plan to address it with them when I take the Edge in for it's first oil change. We still like the Edge and enjoy driving it! Let's hope that we don't experience to many other disapppointments.
  5. We have had 2008 Edge Limited AWD for only 3 weeks and the more we drive it the more we like it. We lucked in as the dealer had the exact model on the lot that we where looking for. Vapor Grey, panaoramic roof, 20 inch wheels with a trailer package. I drive my cars on regular long distance business trips (50k KLM yearly) and do alot of my own repairs /upkeep. I am thrilled that there is a forum for Ford Edge owners to discuss problems, share information and give some pointers. Currently the Edge has 2500KM on it and its running like a charm. As for gas milage, I'm not complaining as my previous (Montana Van) got about the same and it was FWD. Glad I'm back in a Ford. :happy feet:
