  1. Buddy there isnt that far off when he mentions Turbo. Actually the 3.5 V6 Duratec engine is presently in production cars in Australia, matched up to a twin turbo. From what I understand the first car to have that engine setup in North America will be the Lincoln MKZ. No mention if it's going to be put on the EDGE as it seems that the engine size will be reduced to a 4cylinder as previously mentioned by someone else here. The good news about this all is that teh 3.5 Duratec in the EDGE was designed with turbo charging in mind from the beginning, therefor, expect something in the market that you'd be able to go order at your local Ford dealer since it will soon be sold with a turbo matched to it. Anyway, it might not be a Cayenne and you might not be racing the darn thing... but it'd would be nice to have a few more ponies under the hood. Way too many vehicles are coming out with over 280 horses and well... I dont wanna feel like i'm driving a civic.
  2. In Canada when you order you EGDE with the 20" wheel upgrade package which is $800 more on the bill, it includes a 17" brake upgrade as well. It's what I was told when I bought mine, and also it's advertized on the website when you build and price an EDGE AWD LIMITED with the 20" wheel package. Check it out: http://ford.ca/app/fo/en/suvs_crossovers/edge.do That's why I opted to order my EDGE with the wheel upgrade. It's a heck of a lot cheaper to spend the $800 then, than to go hunting for aftermarket parts and spend an arm and a leg on parts and labour....not to mention you still have to upgrade rims to be able to fit such a large rotor and caliper. I have to say though, the upgraded brakes make a world of difference. The brake response is much better than the EDGE (with standard size brakes and 18inch wheels) that I test drove before buying mine. It gives you that BMW brake feel... I would totally recommended to anyone. EVen the calipers are much larger than teh 18inch loaded EDGE.
  3. Actually the upgrade would come from MICROSOFT, not from FORD and it IS a free upgrade if gotten through microsoft website. IF you opt to go to a FORD dealer, the dealer will charge you the labour of having a worker take the time to do it. So it really is up to you if you wanna get it for free, or pay for it. From what MICROSOFT gave me to understand, you can get the CD from the dealer as well (FOR FREE, as any update for any microsoft software is). The thing is, will the dealer let you have it for free, when they know they can just say they dont have any left and make you pay for the service to them rather??? Anyway, I got my update at the dealer but fortunately, I had paid for the SPECIAL SERVICING PACKAGE, where all my maintenance is covered... which took care of the update as well. I would look online for the update and put it on a DVD to install onto the system myself if I hadnt had it done already by the dealer.
