I guess the question needs to be changed, cuz so far no one seems to know how to do that. How about this rather, does anyone have the electrical diagram for the lightning system for the EDGE equipped with foglights??? Once we get a hold of that, we can figure it out fairly easily. So please...if you're asking anyone about it, ask them if they have access to the schematic of the electrical system in the EDGE... that simplyfies the work on how to do the job because it will give us the colours of all the wires and locations of relays involved. PM if anyone has it or finds it, i can figure it out myself for us all once I get my hands on that.

Thank you i did get your pm but i couldnt read it for some reason. This answered my questions. I'm considering the 8000k's though cuz I like the look. Once I'm sure, I will be making the order through you. Let me ask you something... do you have the 3000k hid h11? I'm interested on those for the fogs.... and either 6000 or 8000k h11's for the low beam. Not sure yet. As far as the drl's... any issues with that? The low beam acts as the drl's as well. 2 Questions... 1) Are the kits made in USA? or made in Taiwan? or Korea??? 2) Do you have any pics of what the 6000's look like.... a pic with the 6000s in one headlight, and the 8000s in the other headlight would be nice too see. I want whiter but not too too blue.... I'm not sure if 8000 is too blue for my taste. Thank you.

Already did it, and it took less than 15 minutes to remove it- take the pics- and put it back in place... but only cuz I stopped to have a beer How long would it take you to do it DRUCK??? Oh wait, you probably need to check the book and see how it's done first! ROFLOL!!!!

btw, is that really the function of that net??? is it really a bug catcher??? I thought it was to reduce wind noise when the roof is open.... sorta like BMW puts those sexy corrugated pieces that cut the wind to avoide noise. I should have known though... they would have made such an ugly net if it was meant to break the wind from coming in.

Seems to me that the EDGE's sold in Canada have a few differences to the ones sold in the US..... That's interesting. I was reading up about the reply on the spring loaded mechanish....and apparently it wasnt approved for use in Canada...that and something else on the emittions system and a couple of other things are different between the Canadian Edge and the American. My EDGE was built in Missisauga I think....somewhere out in Eastern Canada. I had no idea of this things til I saw this website. Interesting. Like the LIMITED with the full nav system/ sync/ sirius/ headrest screens and all.... comes with the 14 (or is it 16) speaker THX audio system that in the US is only available on the lincoln vehicles. I find that extremely interesting. I think i'm gonna have to be careful when I order parts for my EDGE out of the US. Who knows what else is different between them. The interesting thing is that you have to actually be at the dealer to realize there are THX systems available on the EDGE's up here, cuz there's no mention of it on the website... but they do make reference to the 17in brake upgrade when you order the 20inch wheel package. Whao... this site is very educational. It has made me more aware of things.

Yes those functions ARE correct IF you dont have the factory alarm. I have the factory alarm with the remote start (6 button factory remote) and it works totally different to what the book says, cuz the book is refering about the KEYLESS ENTRY FUNCTION on a vehicle that is NOT equiped with the factory alarm. Read it again... you'll see that you're right ... but it doesnt apply to the FACTORY ALARM, only to the keyless entry. And if you think that because of this specific part of your pasted info, "Locking the doors 1. Press and release to lock all the doors. The turn lamps will flash. 2. Press and release again within three seconds to confirm that all the doors are closed. Note: The doors will lock again, the horn will chirp and the turn lamps will flash once if all the doors and liftgate are closed", that your car has the factory alarm, you're mistaking my friend. That is just a keyless entry system. But thank you for trying... you get points for effort.

If your EDGE has the factory alarm, it will honk on locking(arming) as well as when unlocking(disarming) the car. You can shut it off yourself, I just dont remember how, or you can get the dealer to do it. Maybe someone from FORD here can help you on the how to if you post on the employee area. As for the people who's car only honk when pressing the lock twice, and doesnt honk when unlocking...that's because you dont have the factory alarm. Once to get the alarm chirps turned off, you can press lock and unlock as many times as you want in a row, and no noise will be made by the horn.

Actually, you're not that far off. It does have to do ONLY with the EDGE's loaded with the VISTA ROOF. Open the VISTA ROOF fully, and you'll see in the front of it the wind breaking screen starts to come up (the mesh screen that looks like crap from the front of the car when your VISTA ROOF is open). That button cancels the lifting of that wind breaking screen. I thought that was the BEST IDEA they ever had... cuz that little screen really looks ridiculous while it's up. I have mine deactivated and I get no wind noise, unless I get at speeds over 60mph, at which point I would close the Vista Roof anyway...

i dont think i've ever looked down at the shifter on any of my cars when i've needed to put it into reverse or in D or L. I guess it's just too intuitive a thing... plus is not like it lights up on the dash like most cars do.

I figure you seem to be the people with the most info on the matter, so i'm gonna throw my question at ya... i think you might be able to help. My question is, can the box be reprogrammed to switch which headlight would be the DRL's without having to cut wires or modify relays etc.. etc... this is my idea... I as well have the H11 on the low beam as my DRL's. I would like to change these to HID but there are 2 things stopping me: 1)is the DRL's. 2) I'm waiting for someone to start making projection headlight for the EDGE. Anyway, my solution for the DRL's is more complicated than simply reprogramming some box. My solution involves rewiring the headlights so that the low beam wires go down to the high beam bulb making the high beam bulb the DRL's/Low Beam, and then wiring the HIGH BEAM to the low beam bulb so that the high beam is the top bulb rather than the bottom one. That would mean that for my low beam (top of the headlight) to light up, I would have to maintain my HIGH BEAM on (making the constant blue light come on which might turn annoying) Of course, to solve THAT problem, all I have to do is rewire the light switch stick... between the low beam and the hight beam. Like I said, mine is harder and complicated... but it would work, and I would still maintain my DRL's for legal reason, and still be able to wire some HID into the top of the headlight H11s. It would be great if you could me figure that out as you seem to be quite knowledgeable about the matter. Thank you

That sounds more like a hardware problem, not a software one... so it's not microsoft. Sounds like there's something unplugged... most likely behind the steering column... MECHANICS know nothing when it comes to electrical problems..... specially new technology. I think the dealer is better off sending the car to a stereo installer to tweak on it... they have the experience to deal with problems like that, and the equipment to test it as well.

Actually that's common for the dealer to say. They want to sell you what they have or what it's easy for them to get. You can have both the DVD NAV SYSTEM and the REAR OVERHEAD ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM, because not only the moonroof models have the NAV system. You can get a DVD NAV SYSTEM on the moonroof-less model... which means no issue there. Go to another dealer since they dont wanna cooperate. AS far as the giant moonroof, if you want it (believe me it's nice to have) then opt for the headrest screens rather. Not to mention that when the screen is down, it blocks the view on your rearview mirror anyway.

WHAO THAT'S EXPENSIVE!!! Why dont you try neon wire??? it's a lot cheaper and you can pretty much ACCENT anything you want. you can make a cool line that's around the cup holder or something cool like that. It comes in multiple colours, including the same colour as the dash lightning and even ultra white. here's a link to "1" of the mane manufacturers/dealers of it. It's under $2 a foot and for 2 cup holders...you wont need more than 2 feet, probably 1 foot will do. As for the wires to connect it to the electrical system, all you're gonna need is any 14-18 guage electrical wire (which goes for like a few cents a foot). http://www.vibelights.com/elwirebyfoot.html I would NEVER pay $225 just to light up my cup holders...there's tons of ways to do it for a lot less. Even the ultra bright LEDS... you know, the fake out alarm lights they sell for less than $10.00 for a pair??? even those would be a choice and still hell of a lot cheaper than doing the thing you're talking about. Anyway, best of luck with your mod, but keep in mind... why spend so much when you can do it better and cheaper???

You can shut off the easy access feature. It's done with the info and reset buttons. That will mean that your headlights wont light up when you unlock the car with the remote.... but all you have to do is turn it back on after the drive-in and you're set. OR...if you're lazy, bring 2large towels and wrap them around the mirrors:PLOL

No you cannot. If you put a regular DVD into the NAV SLOT, it will simply tell you to check the disc, and that it cant read it. Go try it, it wont damage anything and it will confirm what i'm saying. Someone in here did a recent mod that lets them use the NAV screen to display an aftermarket reverse cam and it also give you 1 extra video input (may it be for DVD player, or for PS3)...whatever you wanna use it. I think it'll help you accomplish what you're trying to do. Unfortunately there's no cheap way to do it. You have to spend a couple of bucks.

Try putting your vehicle in reverse, and reversing towards a wall or a car so that your sensor starts to beep. At this point come to a full stop keeping the vehicle in reverse. While the sensor system is still beeping, turn up the volume on your stereo. That will bring up the volume on the beeping of the sensors in the 2008 EDGE AWD LIMITED with the NAV SYSTEM and SYNC. Dunno if it's the same on all models, but that's how it's done in mine. (same goes for the nav system voice lady, if she's talking and you turn the volume up or down on the stereo, it actually affect the volume of her voice).

The factory REMOTE START and ALARM, are both PRE-WIRED on the AWD LIMITED EDGE's. It's basically a plug and play mod. IF you go and give some bud to a ford mechanic, maybe he can hook you up with a couple of pages of the book they go read onto how to install them...cuz mechanics are not ELECTRITIANS, so they have to follow the step by steps from the book.

I'm looking to see if anyone has any pics of the rear of the NAV SYSTEM (where all the wires are plugged in). Maybe from a previous install you did..... or someone that's about to remove the NAV SYSTEM, maybe you could take some pics and posted on here. Hell or if someone has removed the NAV sys, maybe you could take it out from whatever closet you have in, and take a few pics of it.... could ya??? Thank you.

So okay... no one has given anything useful as to how to do this mod then, that's what it seems like. I hate the feature SPECIALLY cuz when my wife is in the passenger seat, and I want her to find something on the NAV, the buttons are blacked off cuz of this ridiculous safety feature. They should have put it on one of the settings and options...something you could turn on and off. If they considered that too distracting, then what do they have to say about people that light up their smokes while driving? or the idiot paying attention to the baby in the back seat while moving forward??? it's their problem and they'll have to deal with it through the insurance. I cant believe you cant even have the option for the PASSANGER to navigate the damn thing for ya.
