  1. Too bad, the Weathertech vent shades work great on my SEL+. Your previous experience may have been a function of Murano aerodynamics.
  2. I believe it is only a big issue with those of us who have Camel or Light Stone interiors, in that the image of the light colored dash is reflected onto the windshield. It is distracting to some, others seem to cope. The use of polarized sunglasses cuts the image. The fix would probably be to have the upper dash painted the "taupe" color that accompanies the Camel/Lt. Stone interiors. I wear sunglasses (bronze color/polarized) whenever I drive during the daylight hours...it slows the development of cataracts, so the image doesn't bother me. It really doesn't bother me without the glasses, you just look through it...depth of field and all that. Maybe Ford missed this item, it's neither here nor there. I'm sure it will be fixed in the future, constant whining about it won't change the current situation. It's fixable...yes, at your cost probably. If that's not acceptable to someone, please sell the car, as it is obviously a distraction and we all have enough distractions while driving.
  3. Folks, I don't think it is the "metal" trim that is the issue. I have the light stone interior and there is a reflection of the entire top of the dash. I do not find it distracting or opaque in any way, and if you are protecting your eyes properly during the day a pair of polarized sunglasses make it go away. It is a matter that could have been addressed by a darker top on the dash with the lt. stone or camel interiors. Ford chose not to do it, perhaps for "thermal gain reasons", or they didn't identify it as a problem. In either case, it is what the individual sees as a problem and to what degree, when all is said and done. A good custom shop can remove the top section of the dash and color it the dark grey using vinyl paint, if a person desires a fix.
  4. You have stumbled upon a covert age marker (prolly), identifying it's user as young and impressionable and/or out on a day pass from the Day Center for the Tragically Hip.
  5. Go to another "stealership". Most parts departments can cut the key (standard Ford chipped blank- "Valet Key" no buttons) or provide the full button package key, and you can program it yourself...IF... you have BOTH of the original keys. If you don't then the dealer must do the programming. It's nice when the dealer thinks so highly of their customers.
  6. My $0.02 worth is that if you are towing on the flat terrain, on short hops to the water, with shallow slope boat ramps, things ought to be pretty good. Other than that, I think you would be pushing your luck for any longevity. You would be at the upper limit of the stated capabilities. You might want to weigh you boat/motor/trailer, ready to go with all the stuff in it, and a full tank. Go to a truck scale, unhitch and set it on the bow caster. You might be surprised at the actual weight of the rig.

    MPG??????

You really should read the entire sticker statement, before making an expectation about your bottom line. You will find that it is alot more than the "big" numbers.
  8. I'd check with the dealer, in that, the factory "tow package" comes with the hitch, oil cooler, larger radiator, upgraded cooling fan and bigger battery. Like most things, depending upon the total load, you might be OK with installing a hitch and oil/transmission cooler...BUT...any warranty related mishaps probably would be a problem given the non-factory installation. I would install the hitch, if you can find someone to "custom" or if dealer could provide. It doesn't sound like your "loads" would be a problem for the Edge. If your "trips" are relatively short and load is below the total 3500 lbs limit you should be fine. Just watch the temp gauges from time to time. That's my $0.02 worth.

    MPG??????

Jimmerz- Have you and your buddy considered swapping vehicles for a week? It might be an interesting experiment in MPG and make/model differences.
  10. I went to the dealer's lot, at their request, as they were NOT going to do anything until I had a chance to see it. The damage was on the passenger side and looked suspicioiusly like a "chain binder" had been dropped across one of the embossed stiffener channels. It was repaired within the week, with no perceptable trace. I took delivery on April 23, and I have been happy to own this vehicle. I can find none of the criticisms stated on this and the Blue Oval forum to be of much concern. I sense that some prefer to believe all that they read without actual experience, but that is their burden.
  11. Aren't the factory "chrome clad" wheels...clad in plastic chrome????? If they are, then all of the above could do some serious damage to the surface. Just a thought.
  12. After waiting 44 days, my SEL+ AWD, Light Sage Metallic, no BAMR/no Nav/no Rear Entertainment, finally arrived. I know that the turnaround time for my order was short, compared to others, but still a "long" time. I got the call from the dealer with good news and bad news. The Edge arrived, as ordered, yesterday, but.....it was delivered with what we call in my business: "Teamster Tracks" (sorry brudda's). It looks like someone during the course of shipment, allowed a "chain binder" or other device to fall on the roof. Nice size dent on the formed reinforcement of the roof. I will get to view the repair hopefully by the end of the week (dealer estimate). If all is well, the deal will be completed, if not, then time to start looking at the Lincoln lots, as they seem to have the best selection in stock, and be resigned to taking some of the options that I don't need/want. Sad that what appears to be a well assembled vehicle succumbed to a transport accident/lack of attention. I do wonder why it wasn't noted at the rail yard, or by the truck transport. Onward.
