  1. Done. Rims replaced today. Now... how long will they last?

I should say - this was a good one for Ford to replace - they could have copped on those of us in snowy areas and blame it on winter salting - so I am not complaining one bit about the replacement.

I do remember specifically asking my dealer - how do I look after those? he said nothing. I said ok.

They will likely peel - he said NAAAAAAAAhhhh...

My experience with any aluminum rim - just a matter of time. My first car was GM - and the rims pitted after 1 winter - no replacement from GM at all.

  2. Seems to me, the mags need to find a reason to nail the Edge....

I love the ride, the handling and power of my Edge...

Just remember the 2007 Edge got slammed for not having a rear lower handle and power lift gate - added on the 2008 - IMO the rear handle takes away from the design lines and makes it look like a mini van from the back... the power liftgate would have been nice...

Let them whine... the proof is in the sales numbers...

  3. Ouch.. glad you are safe and intact...

Hope you can work out the replacement....

I have been rear ended - Im convinced the Edge is super safe... and evidently strong enough to withstand a semi..

  4. "I can safely say NO CAR IS FLAWLESS!!!"

I have a 2007 Edge that rolled off the line about 1 year ago...

I have no complaints... little rattles or cosmetic issues (my rims on being replaced) are a nuisance but I will take those problems over any other major mechanical issues.

I have been extremely happy with the ride, the handling and the look and finish. Everyone who sees it, rides in it... are always impressed.

Its VISTA roof season again... tons of Edges on the road...

Would really love to get my hands on the hydrogen Edge in about 5 years....

  5. Hi.. The quality was first rate.. all new parts inside including the 3x3 tempered steel bar inside the bumper. The paint finish was great when they did it the first time in November and its perfect now.

Matches up with the tone of the front bumper ... you cannot tell I had it replaced at all.

I went to this Ford Dealership because they were reputable and I know office workers who used them before. So far.. I am completely satisfied with their work.

And there was absolutely no argument about ordering my new rims under warranty.

  6. My spots are located at the rim edge near the actual tire.

They look like blacken spots (raised bumps) and you might feel cracklin when pressing with a finger

Looks kinda like a mold spot... does not come off.. not dirt..

  7. Well my Edge is back... with all NEW

Exhaust system (chrome tips all new) $1200

    1 new reversing sensor $334

New upper and lower bumper covers $1000

    Misc parts to complete $200

    Labour and misc taxes $1600

    Grand total $4495 etc

Having my Edge back on the first really nice day of Spring with Vista Roof open... PRICELESS

    :happy feet:

  8. Count me in TOO!!.. Rims ordered today....

Edge was at Ford dealer for collision repairs ($4495 for complete bumper and exhaust system)... took the collisions manager out to the car to take a look.. and he says "that's pretty bad"...

10000 miles on it.. 1 winter...

But.. I have my Edge back... and OOOOOOOOOOOooo so nice after driving a very noisy Explorer for a week...

  9. Thanks..

But here in Ontario Canada... and because I was hit.... I have no deductible to pay... and insurance (state farm) handles all the paperwork.... including full value for the repairs at the FORD dealer of my choice... they did a great paint job on the first bumper..

And my policy includes a depreciation waiver - which means in the first 2 years the vehicle is replaced for FULL value - therefore ALL NEW parts for me.

Its all covered...Im good... bummed that my Edge is banged up.. but it can be fixed good as new..

I love my Edge.. its a great ride and I enjoy it....

  10. Well.. preliminary repairs are totalling about $2800 - and that's before the dealer has it up on the racks.

So thats covers - lower bumper, complete exhaust, reverse sensing unit, full alignment, full electrical inspection.... dealer said it add would upper bumper cover as its scratched up and the snaps are broken - thats does not even include any structural damage to the bumper...

On Monday - Edge goes in for its repairs....

  11.

This is the 2nd time inside of 5 months I have been rear ended....

    Edge is holding up well...

On a side note... a lot of posters use this forum about the little things they don't like about their Edges - the quirks and not so perfect things...

But as someone who has been rear ended twice - the Edge holds up extremely well. The Honda Civic that hit me (who was hit by an Audi A4) crumpled up under neath my Edge bumper. The exhaust is bent, reverse sensing busted and god knows what else.

I barely felt it - a little "funny" feeling in my back - but nothing too serious yet.

As you can see with the attached pics - damage does not look so bad.. I figure its over $2500 with the bent exhaust. Just to do the bumper covers last time cost insurance $1600.

Yes - the Edge may have its quirks - but its an extremely safe vehicle.. after looking at that crumpled Civic - I am grateful I am driving a well constructed heavy vehicle.

So the next time you think - "damn why didnt they light those buttons" - or "the NAV does not have enough POIs" - be thankful you have not been in accident.. but if you ever are ... the Edge is safe vehicle.

PS - the cardboard under the tire is to catch any antifreeze that happens to drip out of the bumper. The Civic 's antifreeze went everywhere when it hit.

  12. Ooopss.. I should clarify - X plan is 4% higher than A plan price.. as I read the contract when I signed for my order..

A-Plan price (for Ford employees and immediate family) is as cheap as you can go.. no haggle, no fees, no delivery charges.. I think I paid the a/c tax - I also had no trade as I had a buyer for my old car.

PS -A plan is about $1000 below dealer invoice...

  13. Hey... try Eastcourt Ford in Scarborough - they do a lot of volume - family buys from there... all had a good experience.. Ask for Margaret.

    http://www.eastcourtfordlincoln.com/en/index.spy

Good Luck - PS could always try blueovalforums.com and get an X plan PIN price - which is 4% above invoice..

I had the A plan as my bro works at Oakville - so I just ordered from any dealer.

  14. I got a better one.... my office is on the QEW - windows facing the highway - and while I waited for my Edge.. I counted endless amounts of Edges on trucks driving by...

and then when blueovalforums tracking - told me it was on a truck... i eyeballed every creme brulee on a truck in the morning..

6 weeks of watching and waiting.. but it was worth it

So Gettn - if you are on the Hamilton Mountain and see a creme brulee edge - that might be ME!!!

  15. I willing to bet after driving the Taurus X - the blindspots are different...

I had a small issue when I went from my sport coupe to the Edge - takes a bit to adjust to your new perimeters - but the Edge has HUGE side mirrors which helped... and you need to train your eyes not to look at the A pillars in front...

Now.. its good to go... I am able to handle the Edge much better than the sport coupe...

  16. To continue.. had my Edge since May 2007 - only issue is to get the small piece of trim stuck around the back vista window..

Otherwise.. all systems great - no issues, no burning smells, no paint blisters, no brake issues, no glare issues.

For all you lurkers - the Edge is great - awesome ride and awesome styling...

Just remember its still a vehicle... and ANY vehicle can have problems. I owned a Pontiac Grand Am, Toyota Solara and now the Edge.. - the biggest issue I have encountered.. bad computer motherboard on the Toyota that chimed in at 200 miles... replaced at 6000 miles after I called Toyota head office...
