  1. So, I own a 2019 Edge Titanium. I bought it in December of 2018, after FoMoCo bought back my 2017 Escape Titanium with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine. The Escape was a lemon. After the fiasco with the Escape, I bought a 150k mile ESP for 4 years, with a $100 deductible. I'm glad I did. Last summer, my Edge started running rough. I thought I got some bad fuel. About the same time, my coolant level started dropping, so I started topping it off. I knew in the back of my mind it was probably burning coolant, but "I have a VEP engine," I told myself. Try and schedule an appointment with a dealership, no availability within three months! Finally found a dealer with an opening only two weeks out, so I take it. No fault found, $100 deductible. Ugh, coolant is still disappearing, so I reschedule two days later. Next appointment is three weeks out, so I take it. Meanwhile, I'm adding distilled water to my coolant surge tank, in quantities which are making me cringe. But, this is my only vehicle, and it must roll. My O2 sensor is wrecked, as is my catalytic converter and my resonator. Finally, the dealership found the leak. They applied the TSB 20-2234, replaced my O2 sensor, and sent me out the door. My Edge lacks any real acceleration at this point. Dealer says emissions controls warranties are separate from ESP coverage. Okay, gotchya - I'm gonna pay something. This is my only vehicle, and it must roll. Called FoMoCo Corporate, filed a customer request for financial assistance with an issue caused by a failure of one of their covered parts - namely the EGR valve. FoMoCo needs numbers from my repair order, so they can do their back-end calculations. FoMoCo tries to call the dealership. Dealership remains incommunicado for three weeks, not answering their phones nor responding to voicemails. All the dealership had to do is pick up the phone, and read off some digits. Nope, that Black Label dealership is more like a No Label dealership, service-wise. Finally, after three weeks, FoMoCo gets the numbers. They offer to pay 75% of the catalytic, while I pay 25%. Deal, let's do this, but they should be paying 100% in my eyes. Whatever, let's just get this done. But I ain't goin' back to that one dealership, they can't even answer their phones. I hope they suffer, somehow... Find another nearby dealership with a loaner vehicle. Catalytic gets replaced, as we don't yet know the resonator is plugged up. I pick up my Edge, and as I try to drive away I notice it still lacks power. Disheartened, I babied it home, and returned the following morning. Also, a new clunking sound exists when I accelerate. Tech diags the next issue as the resonator, and an exhaust hangar as having slipped off. FoMoCo offers to pay 75% for the resonator, and I pay 25%. Deal, let's do this. I just want it done... BUT as the tech was backing out of the service bay after diagnosing the resonator as being plugged, my Edge stumbled and tossed a code. You know how people always complain their vehicle NEVER acts up for the tech? Well, mine finally did just that... Service rep calls to ask, have I had the EGR replaced yet. I told her, that is what proceeded all this fun. Service rep tells me about the tech diagnosing my vehicle with a misfire, and that he was troubleshooting it, and says she'll have to get back to me. I later hear back from FoMoCo via email. I need a new engine. Surely autocorrect changed EGR to Engine for her, right? I call the dealer - nope, I need a new engine. The tech has scoped pictures of coolant in my cylinders. So I'm all like, "ok, how much is this gonna cost me, $100?" Service rep says she doesn't know yet, and says she needs to run my VIN. I'm all like, "if it's $100, let's do this already." I could tell the service rep didn't like this conversation, presumably because it was possibly gonna cost me a lot. She eventually came back with, "yes sir, it looks like it'll be $100." Neither the service rep, nor FoMoCo, seemed to know I had an ESP for my Edge. So here I sit, still without my vehicle. I've been without it effectively since January 3rd or 5th, I forget. At this point, the resonator has arrived, the catalytic is installed, the new long block engine to replace my verified VEP engine has arrived, and we're only waiting to hear from the ESP folks that Wear & Tear can begin their work (essentially waiting for the thumbs up that ESP will pay their part). Been in this waiting pattern for almost two weeks... So, how many people are out there with a VEP 2.0L EcoBoost engine, and needed a replacement long block due to coolant intrusion issues at the EGR? Also, how many out there can say their last TWO Ford vehicles both needed replacement long blocks ... and that at least one of those TWO vehicles (to date, anyways), was bought back by FoMoCo as a lemon? But I'll be honest. Aside from all the above EGR-related troubles, that vehicle has done well. It has been a dream to pilot, as evidenced by the 102,517 miles currently on the odo...
  2. @omar302 No love. I modded the PDM and DDM as needed, and could not get the mirrors to tilt down when shifted to reverse. Guess my 2019 cannot do this. Oh well...I'm off to find more mods!
  3. @omar302 I'll have to go re-do the PDM and DDM module alterations and test it tonight. Thanks! I did the interior light disable mod because it also disables the exterior lights (I failed to note this in my previous post). It might be handy one day for me to stealthily open my vehicle...without a bunch of lights coming on to indicate such.
  4. 2019 Edge Titanium here. I really do enjoy the FORScan mods! I can confirm, as of last night, I have gotten the following mods from the "FORScan Codes for 2017 Super Duty" list to work with my Edge: Fog Lights with High Beams (Unrestricted fog lights) Turn Signal Flash Count to 5 (could have chosen more or less flashes) Disable Illuminated Entry/Exit (No exterior lights, interior lights, or cargo lights when doors are opened, or when locked with IAK fob) Silent Car Mode (no honk when locking with IAK fob) I've had no luck reprogramming the IPC @ 720-02-01 for the "Enable Reverse Side Mirror Tilt" mod, detailed in this thread. The process always errors out, and kicks me out of the IPC programming screen. The DDM and PDM mods for the "Enable Reverse Side Mirror Tilt" mod take just fine, but the IPC bit spits me out. In the sake of keeping people from digging, here are the addresses which need altering for the "Enable Reverse Side Mirror Tilt" mod. Again, I cannot get the 720-02-01 address to let me alter it - upon writing all, or writing just that line, I'm spit back out and no changes are made... Enable Reverse Side Mirror Tilt: 720-02-01 (2013+ MY) xxxx Xxxx xxxx Note: Press Mirror Left or Right Switch before shifting into reverse (IPC) 3 (Disabled - Default) 7 (Enabled) Add Hex 4 to Existing Value: 3+4=7 740-03-01 (2013+ MY) Xxxx xx (DDM) 6 (Disabled - Default) 7 (Enabled) 740-13-01 (2013+ MY) XXxx (DDM) 00 (Disabled - Default) FC (Enabled) 741-03-01 (2013+ MY) Xxxx xx (PDM) 6 (Disabled - Default) 7 (Enabled) 741-13-01 (2013+ MY) XXxx (PDM) 00 (Disabled - Default) FC (Enabled) Anyone have any input on the "Enable Reverse Side Mirror Tilt" mod? I'm not sure if it's a FORScan issue (had to download the latest version, as the one I had installed wouldn't recognize my vehicle), or if it's an IPC protection deal, where I'm kicked out for trying to reprogram it... Thanks!
  5. Yep, spent this morning pouring over it! Snagged quite a few things to test on my 2019. Just grabbed my As Built Data from FoMoCo. Perhaps this weekend I'll have time to spend comparing my ABD to the referenced information so I may figure out what matches up (to know what is easily done), and then go from there. Thanks!
  6. Thanks! I'm excited to own it! One of the things which drew me to this forum was a thread pertaining to FORScan mods for the Edge. I come from a forum for the Ford Escape. Long story short, I bought a lemon Escape which I tried to love. The FORScan mods for the Escape were probably the most fun thing to learn about over there. And later, when the real problems began with my Escape, my FORScan experience paid great dividends in pulling codes and Mode6 (freeze frame) data to screenshot and provide to the dealership. After the first time I was told, "We couldn't find any codes, please bring it back the next time it throws a code," I quickly realized I had to become my own advocate, as nobody else was going to help me out when the vehicle tossed codes at night and on the weekends when the dealership was closed. Worst of all the Escape would only throw PENDING codes, so as soon as the Escape was turned off, the codes were lost. In the end, the dealership ended up breaking tons more things while trying to fix simple items. Example: Dealership - We replaced your misfiring engine with a new crate engine from Ford. Me - Awesome! But what's this new popping sound in the front driver's side suspension? D - We don't know... M - And what's up with this trim over the driver's wheel being broken? See how it's sticking out now? Look at the other vehicles on your lot, they're not broken like that. And, where did this bolt I found come from? It was literally laying on the garage floor when I backed out the other day... D - We don't know, but we'll fix those problems. ... M - You fixed the trim, thank you. But, the popping sound still exists, and when I popped the hood the other day to refill my windshield washer fluid, I noticed you all lost a few cowling clips when you worked on replacing my engine... D - We can't replicate the popping sound. M - Ok, well, here's a Google Drive link to no fewer than 60 videos from my dashcam illustrating the popping sound over the past day. D - Hmm, we'll look into that. ... D - We replaced the strut as per FoMoCo, hoping that'll fix the popping sound. M - Thanks! But that didn't resolve the popping. Here's a new Google Drive link with at least 40 new videos over the course of the weekend to show the popping sound still exists. And the vehicle misfired again. Here's the Mode6 data and pending code I pulled since you all were closed when the Escape threw a code... D - We'll look into all that. ... D - We replaced the strut a second time, as per Ford. But it seems there's a problem. Your wiper arm is chewing up your cowling. Don't worry, we've ordered a replacement cowling under warranty. It'll be here in a few days. M - Umm, hmm... Okay... (I took the vehicle to another dealership to have it looked at, and they said the original techs failed to mount the wiper motor as it should have been mounted, and the original dealership "jacked up your sh*t." Their words, not mine, and the blatant honesty was SO VERY REFRESHING. Got that in writing, but with more "appropriate" verbiage.) ... D - We replaced the cowling. M - Great, but what about the popping sound? D - It still exists? M - Yes. Have yet another Google Drive link with another 50 videos over the course of a few days, illustrating the popping sound. As before, I've narrated each clip with what I was doing with the steering wheel and accelerator pedal when the popping happened. I'll email it to you just as I have done with the other links... D - Okay. M - And what about the cowling clips you all have lost last time you worked on my Escape? D - We'll replace them. M - And what about this new bolt I found just laying in the fiber board under the vehicle? Where did this one come from? D - We don't know. M - If Ford thought this bolt was unimportant, like the other one I found on my garage floor, surely the would omit it themselves to save a few pennies. But they included it, so they must have thought it was an important fastener... D - (Blank stare) M - I'll leave the vehicle here. Please stick me in another loaner. ... D - We replaced the lower control arm, as per Ford. M - Great! Now, next question. The 2018 Escape loaner you put me in was able to play my thumb drive in the USB port located under the arm rest. My Escape cannot do so. Can we look into this? D - Sure. ... D - Tech says the USB port under the arm rest is for charging only, and they changed the purpose of that USB port with the 2018's. M - I respectfully declare bullsh*t. Let's talk with your tech together, please. D - I'm with you because you're the customer, let's talk with the tech together. (Service desk guy and I talk with the tech. Tech declares I'm wrong and stands his ground, since there are no other 2017's on the lot to compare with. I sit down and compare schematics pulled by VIN for my 2017 and the loaner 2018, and I point out they are identical schematics, yet also quite vague as the USB cable is called out as being one black wire, when they actually contain four individual wires - a positive, a negative, a "data+," and a "data-." Service desk guy gets the feeling I'm actually right and authorizes the swapping of my 2017's parts with parts from the 2018 loaner to diagnose what could be wrong with my 2017. Tech says he doesn't wanna do this work, so a second tech does this swap work and discovers the Media Hub under my arm rest was screwed up. Second tech puts everything back as it originally was for both vehicles, and orders me a new media hub, fixing the problem. What the heck - now I'm playing technician, even more-so than pulling codes and Mode6 data? Whatever, at least we're making headway...) ... M - Now the transmission is making a whining sound and shifting hard. Here's another Google Drive link with the video of it doing so. D - We'll look into it. M - Thanks. ... D - We couldn't replicate the transmission noise issue, but the good news is you have a 5 year, 60,000 mile drive train warranty. M - I'm grateful for the warranty, but that won't cover the inconvenience of being broke down on the side of the road and being without my vehicle yet again. D - There's nothing we can do for you, even with the video. M - Then, let's do a transmission fluid flush for preventive maintenance. I'll pay for it out of my own pocket. D - Okay, we'll get it done for you. I'd just like to add that, my transmission never again shifted normally after that time it shifted rough and made a whining noise - not even after the flush I paid for. Also, the dealership never discovered where those mystery bolts came from, nor did they ever replace any of the cowling clips - I had to pay for those clips out of my own pocket. I bought a new vehicle in 2017 because I wanted a new vehicle - not a vehicle which had been wrenched on by who knows whom, an unknown quantity of times. In the end, FoMoCo's buyback process for lemons, operated by the Ford RAV (ReAcquired Vehicles) Department, is totally stupid, and employs absolute agents of mediocrity who cannot tell the difference between a corn hole, and corn on the cob. I had purchases I made be declined for reimbursement because of things like, "This eBay receipt says this item is for a 13 - 16 Escape, and you own a 17 Escape." When I retorted the part number on the receipt cross references via Google with Ford's own website which says it fits a 13 - 19 Escape, they continued to decline reimbursement. Other items were declined because they refused to acknowledge the Kuga is the overseas Escape, and despite being identical vehicles with differing engine offerings, "That part isn't even for your car. We will not reimburse you for it." Suffice to say, I never want to deal with those idiots ever again. Anyhow, enough griping ... the FORScan mods for the Escape were awesome fun! Making my vehicle do things which it wasn't supposed to do put a smile on my face. Unrestricted fog light use (fogs + high beams), double-honk deletion (when I exited the vehicle with the IAK fob), Auto Stop/Start deletion, Global Window Open/Close with the IAK ... those were little, yet fun mods to perform. Biggest complaint I had was, the known working mods for the Escape were few and far between, while it seemed other vehicles had been better figured out. As I didn't have a ton of time to tinker and find more Escape FORScan mods due to life being what it is, and due to the dealership having my vehicle more this year than I did, I'm happy to escape the Escape chapter of my life and move onward toward the edge, with my new Edge. And I'm really, really looking forward to more tinkering with FORScan and my Edge!
  7. Hey everyone! Just bought my new 2019 Edge Titanium last night. Thought I'd introduce myself here and say hi. Stepping out of a lemon of a 2017 Ford Escape, which thankfully FoMoCo has bought back...and I pray I never have to deal with the agents of mediocrity in the Reacquired Vehicles department again!
